  1. Thanks Morgan - us Demons supporters could use all the luck we can get.
  2. Sorry cannot stand this stupid response. In what way is caring about the jumper we wear in conflict with us winning games or not? It's not like it's a mutually exclusive propersition. I can thint of a lot of things I care less about posted on Demonland (like Ty Vickory) and this time of year, few more that I care about than seeing our club properly address this issue. I mean obviously there is the draft, but until it happens, it's like throwing darts at a dart board. And even then, until those players that are drafted actually produce on the feild, it's more an act of navel gazing for us mere supporters. And it's not like directing some of the club's management staff to take this issue up with the AFL and get an appropriate outcome is distracting our playing group, coaching or recruiting staff. Getting a good outcome for our footy club could also help to recruit and retain more members. Beyond all, when our team wins, I want to see it happen in a jumper that actually looks like our teams, not some crappy half baked version that looks more like a Sydney jumper than a Melbourne one. Every Heart Beats True for the RED and BLUE
  3. That's your opinion and whilst you may well end up being right, I hope you are wrong. I think both these guys have some potential and that it's the ability of coaches, medical staff and overall team culture to get more players to the point of producing the required level of output, whatever their inherent natural ability or past record. Being able to develop and grow the worst players on the list is a big part of what makes average teams good and good teams great. They are on our list for season 2018, so personally I'm not counting on any player being a lost cause until it's done and dusted. Last year our depth was severely tested in the middle to third quarter of the season. Just one of these guys had have been fit and available, it might have been the difference to us beating North or beating Carlton by a few more goals and we make finals last year, or perhaps hopefully the difference between finishing top four this year.
  4. So West Coast have launched their 2018 jumpers, going back to their 'traditional' royal blue and surprise surprise, a yellow and royal blue clash jumper with no white. https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/west-coast-eagles-reveal-new-logo-and-jumpers-for-2018-afl-season-new-jumpers-for-saints-magpies/news-story/3e3e7101110249d44b60569046df28ff So are the MFC and AFL going to continue to serve up this rubbish that all clubs must have a predominantly white clash jumper and make our team run around in one for half a dozen+ games a year? Will MFC suporters continue to allow this?
  5. I don't really disagree with any of this, like I think I aluded to, it's more of a romantic desire than something based in reality. He was bloody horrible against North, might as well have not been on the ground almost. I would say that Jack has good around football skills (a good strong mark and I'd suggest a pretty reliable if not close to an elite kick), is a hard inside type and good overall footy sense, but to have really elite footy smarts is where he would need to reinvent himself. I also reconise that is something probably more innate and instinctive that it's unlikely.
  6. Not dismissing what you are saying here at all, but being slow hasn't held back some great AFL footballers in the past. I just wonder if someone can reinvent a role for him that rejuvenates his career. Not that I don't think that Goody and the MFC didn't try that, but whatever they did, it didn't come off. I don't think playing off a half back flank at AFL level really worked for Jack, I feel he's the sort of player that needs to be in the guts where the action is. ... I know I'm probably grasping at straws, but I'd just really like to think this guy still has a chance of becoming a sucessfull footballer again.
  7. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2017-11-03/power-shock-delisted-demon-signs-on Super dodgy photo of him in his new Port jumper. Pumping out his guns with his fists cross armed, he looks stoned (I guess that's how they roll at Port) and the Port jumper really doesn't suit him (wish he still had a red and blue one on). But overall, I can't argue with the sentiment of others that have posted here in wishing this bloke all the best. Of all the players we have lost over to other AFL clubs the past ten years, I don't think there are are any that have gone with the same high praise and universal good will as Trenners.
  8. I just hope this Balic is better than the last opertunity starved midfielder we picked up from Freo. I've had enough of recruiting recycled players that are champions for Casey.
  9. Walker Texas Ranger - Leaver leaving for the money. Puss of Tex, he's no $cully $cum.
  10. Absolutely. I'm sure that it's been said before, but where do Adelaide get off thinking that two first rounders for Lever is anything like market value? Two first rounders is what they parted with for Dangerfield and good as he may be, Lever is no Dangerfield. Granted the Crows had a weaker hand with Dangerfield being a FA, but with Lever being out of contract, they don't exactly have a strong hand either. Adelaide themselves were not prepared to part with two first round picks for that Carlton bloke (Bryce Gibbs was it) last year either. Get real Crows, take it or Lever leaves for nothing.
  11. Has always been tallent and like the way he goes about his business with a minimum of fuss. Was a little dicky in front of goals in his first few forays forward, but it's pretty clear that once he was given the task on a more permanent basis, he put some time into his set shot routine and was excellent in front of goals.. I recon our permanent forwards are gelous of the free kicks he was able to attract and I'm sure he was much happier to be receiving them in front of our goals than giving them away in front of the oppositions - a bit of karma.
  12. Generally agree, but $1M per season isn't what it use to be and won't be in 3 seasons time at the end of his contract. Lever waited until the new EBA was out for a good reason.
  13. Assuming we get this deal done and Lever goes on to have a distinguished career with the MFC , it would be very sweet revenge for loosing Scott Tompson to them all thoset years ago.
  14. Good first up season for the red and blue. No out and out superstar, but solid, workman like and capable at the top level. Exactly the type of player we can move foward with, having more of in the team, plays his role and gets on with the job. Silenced some of the critics in the back half of the season. Will be good to see what this bloke and Hibbard can do for us backing up next year, with the benifits of comming off a solid year of footy rather thana year in exile.
  15. Surely Ben Ken has got to go? When he couldn't get a game this year at the depths of our injury woes, then that has to say something. You'd think he has some minor trade currency for someone like GC but I wouldn't expect to see anything exciting for him, perhaps a swap of final round draft picks or something ... I'd swap him for the Son of God.
  16. Clarry actually handballs more often at this piont than Deisel did. Based on that, I'd say his meters gained would be less than Deisels. Average total disposals per game stats are similar.
  17. Clarry best young player award - well that was predictable.
  18. Almost paniced that Oliver was a late withdrawal when I saw the headline pop up. Great article. Based on Oliver's and Pedo's performance this season, I think the standard recommendation over the off season should be for all our players to eat well, get on the Pi [censored] (act of drinking beer) and stack on the kgs. http://m.afl.com.au/news/2017-08-20/dee-hits-delete-oliver-moves-on-from-social-media
  19. If Brock McLean makes the list above, then surely players like Guy Rigoni and Paul Hopgood do as well. Did Flash play enough midfield to consider him as one? Mentioning McLean in the same list as Jnr Mac, Stinger, Viney & Co is a huge insult to those genuine Melbourne mids. Seriously McLean, you might as well throw in his mate Col Silvia as well.
  20. This is the AFL you are talking abut Biff. Do you really expect consistency and reason? (Just look at the 'clash' jumper debacle).
  21. Sorry to be a party pooper, but my hope is that we don't have one in the next 10 years, because our top group of players are all so good they pepetually taking and sharing votes between them, that we tally well Brownlow wise as a team, but not well enough individually to have a winner. More interested in having a Norm Smith medalist, along with breaking his curse.
  22. Are you forgetting Rd 7, 2016? We were up by 5 points at half time and ended up smashing them by 73 points. Jack Viney started the ball rolling, by kicking two goals in quick succession just after half time. I went to the game at Metricon with my old man. It was a most enjoyable evening. As I recall, it was a bit of a break out game for Harmes and Gawn got right amongst it as well (before all the media were worshiping Gawn Dawg as the super start MFC supporters knew he was). Also, whist the Hawks game last year was only in the order of 30 or so points, it really did feel that we put them to the sword and never took the foot off in that last quarter.
  23. Well, if it's good for Max. But seriously, the Demonland auto-censor is seriously lacking in intelegence on occasions. Admittedly, there are times when my intended curse words have been picked up as such, but there are also some pretty benign ones that seemed to get picked up, even in completely benign context. Eg: Was a good coin toss for Josey to win today; Or We gave Gold Coast an absolute flogging last year.
  24. Here with you on this one Maxy and happy with the outcome against Port on Saturday: "We focused a little bit on our start this week especially because our starts have been - excuse my language - sh--house," Gawn told Fairfax Media. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/afl/afl-news/melbourne-focused-on-turning-around-shhouse-starts-says-ruckman-max-gawn-20170723-gxgv7n.html
  25. I don't actually notice him that much in games compared to other players like Viney and Jetta, but he just goes about his game in a no nonsense, business like manner and gets the job done, week in, week out.
