  1. Many umpire apologists claim the umpires can’t affect the result of a game. They were clearly influenced by crowd noise in the first half. They must have been informed of it at half time, and came out with 5 straight frees to Bris. If the umpires had kept up with the same errors of the first half, Geelong would have stayed in the game much longer. The “noise of affirmation “is most obvious at Kardinia Park. With the odd shaped oval, training on their home deck, and travel for the opposition, Geelong should win the premiership every year. No wonder they’ve been up for so long. They’re experts at sweeping misdemeanours under the carpet. I’m hoping this disappointing result will cause some disquiet in their administration.
  2. Hyphens can be so important!
  3. He has the knack of taking a “hanger”. Good kicking action, too. Apparently was in intensive care with pneumonia, causing him to miss most of preseason. We can expect much better things in 2026.
  4. I think some people may not be aware that there is no added time on for the first 15 minutes of a quarter in the AFLW, except for after goals or if there is a major hold up, such as play being stopped if someone is injured. Regular time on, such as the umpires automatically blowing the whistle to stop the clock for an out of bounds or ball up, only happens in the last two minutes. The ball rolling about on the bowling green occurred in that 15 minute period so the umps didn't immediately blow the whistle. Having said that, the point at which it should have been obvious to the umps that we had a protracted delay and time on needed to be called was reached way before they actually did so. I haven't watched it back but I guess they should have pulled the trigger at least ten to fifteen seconds earlier, possibly more. Certainly enough time for us to have another attack on goal, given where the ball was. Certainly I'd realized what was happening and was shouting "Blow time on you (expletive)! at the screen. 👿 Thanks, Craig… I was unaware of that detail on time-on in AFLW. It is open to manipulation, though I’m not suggesting it was manipulated in this case.
  5. I like the Suns, but thank heavens it’s not them with the responsibility to knock Collingwood off next week. I was hoping for a convincing Lions win, since they can probably beat Collingwood, but I don’t think Gold Coast would have.
  6. With 3 min to go ,the ball went out on the full and over the fence on to the bowling green. The time-on clock did not stop. We lost 40 seconds. Also , there was no consistency in the time keeping on ball ups. Sometimes the clock stopped, and sometimes it didn’t. I think we’d have won with that extra minute, though we probably didn’t deserve to.
  7. I’ll never forget the joy that day!
  8. That should read….. “ we also got Ed Langdon.”
  9. We a So got Ed L
  10. As Pitmaster mentioned, Collingwood supporters still boo May every time he gets the ball. Why? Because he ( quite justifiably), at a private function, said we should have “smoked ‘em “ in that final where Maynard nearly killed Angus. The hypocrisy is staggering. We would be justified in booing Moore and Maynard for nearly killing two of our players, but I’m glad to say that most Demon supporters are above that sort of behaviour.
  11. Are Mynott and Milne related to the former St Kilda players? Interesting that George Grey has been a star for them. He played for Casey, didn’t he, in the past. He was good, but not a star, I thought, and I don’t think he kicked bags of goals. I always thought Corey Ellison was pretty good for Casey…. a better mark overhead than most of our AFL listed players. I wonder if Jed Adams will be on him.
  12. I think Taylor is a very inaccurate kick for goal.
  13. That would have helped.
  14. I reckon we’d have beaten Collingwood if we’d played Billings instead of Sharp. i.e. picked a player in great form instead of a proven non-contributor. Would have made at least 7 points difference.
  15. Wow….are you sure that’s right? Amazing if true, though he’s obviously very smart. I’ve heard him say he’s more interested in cricket than footy.
  16. Anyone who watched the Casey/Bris game would have to have noticed Spargo dominating the game. I’d select him for Windsor’s spot.
  17. I was amazed that ( as far as I remember), Jed Adam’s only had one kick-in.That kick went 60m to Gawny in the centre…..probably our best for the year. So he was relieved of kick-in duties. Perhaps it was against club policy to kick in up the corridor It reminds me of the brainless tactic( of all clubs), of taking a guy off immediately after he kicks a goal. Laziness by the coaching staff, because it gives them more time to arrange their interchanges. We could gain a small advantage on all other clubs by abandoning this habit.
  18. But I was hoping for 187.
  19. When he was born, Mr Miers wanted to call him Brian. The Mrs wanted him to be Graham. So they compromised on “ Gryan”.
  20. Mr Smug (otherwise known as “Fly”),is quoted as saying. “No-one’s bigger than the individual”. !!!!!! Certainly no-one’s bigger than kicker Mason Cox. Is that what he meant? I wonder if he mixes up another metaphor and says….” there’s no “I” in “side”. !!!!!!!!
  21. Sack Mc Rae!!!
  22. D espies umpires
  23. This is fun!!!
  24. I just checked AFL tables, in April 1991. Cuthbertson kicked 7 v North in our record equaling, score, then another 7 in our win v Collingwood( during my honeymoon,.), then 5 the next week. Then we had a bye, and he seemed to lose all form. I don’t know if this was when he lost his mate.
