  1. It helps to have 8 games per year on their own uniquely shaped ground, where they train, and with no opposition supporters at matches, which not only inspires Geelong players, but influences the umpires. These factors more than compensate for any ā€œ cultureā€ deficiencies.
  2. I’ve often felt our girls get a bad trot with the umps…..but not tonight!!! The one_sided free count( our way) certainly decided the match. I’d be furious if I went for the Crows. But we deserved the win for the relentless endeavour. Sorry……I meant to put this in the match thread.
  3. I was there. i didn’t see Clarrie but Tommy Sparrow told me that he was on their table.
  4. Thanks a lot for the podcast, Fritschy, . What a great interview!
  5. Am I alone in seeing an analogy to 2011 ( after 186)when we sacked Bailey, when all the players wanted Schwabb to go, not him?
  6. During the 57 years we were non-flag winners, I always thought that what we lacked were about 4 absolute star players. Finally, by 2021, we had them! Let's get rid of the lot! That seems like a pretty good idea!
  7. I was expecting Robbo to one day accidentally punch Gerard's ample nose with his wild gesticulations.
  8. Will Verrall is "only" 199cm.
  9. The umpires certainly determined the result of that game.
  10. Thanks for this post, Sue. Interesting to see which media personalities "sell their soul" to get the big bucks from the betting companies. Interesting also to see how unsuccessful Jenkins's tips have been. He's always pontificating about good bets on SEN. I've wondered how often he's been correct. Sports betting really is a scourge on our community. It's great that MFC has abandoned Pokies. The AFL hasn't followed suit. It needs to.
  11. 2 goals to North from v lucky bounces
  12. In a very guarded way, Speed implied that the current CEO probably should not be on the review panel.
  13. I’m enjoying watching Carlton , and their supporters, suffer!
  14. I remember that Final when they beat us. We were coming back strongly near the end, less than a goal behind, when Brad Miller gave them a downfield free , leading to the sealer for them.
  15. Did he mean "Hearsay"?
  16. I thought Bradtke showed promise. He had a lot of injuries, didn't he?
  17. I got such a thrill seeing Carlton having a last minute loss. I remember their gloating when they so luckily beat us in themFinals last season( and during the season if I remember correctly). It annoys me how the Carlton fans scream for ā€œ BALLā€ every time the opposition touch the ball. It works after a while, with the undisputed ā€œ noise of affirmationā€ affecting the umps.
  18. I hope this weekend’s results don’t help the Mudpies into the final eight….. BUT…..it would make for a bumper crowd at the MCG on Friday night. Our home game….is’nt it?
  19. Free kick prediction…. Scraggers 26 Dees 9
  20. Teague is Rod Grinter’s cousin. He was a terrifically gutsy player .
  21. I thought Hore and Tomlinson looked pretty good…. But who was on the guy who got their first 6 goals?
  22. Brilliant manufacture of an excuse by the recidivists! A player on the boundary was being treated for a tight calf muscle, while the groggy Mackay was being helped to his feet. Great triage by the medical experts! Perhaps they consulted their clever lawyers again to dream up that excuse. Of course the AFL has forgotten altogether about the Wettering disgrace.
  23. The AFL has reprimanded Carlton for the Mackay incident. They overlooked the Wettering incident in the Final last year. Carlton might have to face legal action in many years time if Mackay or Wettering show signs of CTE. That’s the problem exactly.
