  1. [quote name='belzebub59' "just possible effect that recycleds might have pushing some picks further up." Hey, Beelzebub, don't you mean "down" ? i.e. the young players might be selectable with lower picks? I think that's what you mean. And I think that's right. This suits us...we don't want old players, but sides in the premiership window do. It might just help us to get another "steal"...like the way we picked up Jack G at 15.
  2. [quote name='Curry & Beer' as long as it doesn't end up a Collingwood Cloke situation It wouldn't. Apparently all the boys are admirable characters like Jack.....a tribute to their Demon-loving Dad .
  3. Just think......we get Dylann, and he turns out to have Jack's class, then a coup;e of years later, the THIRD, Demon supportying brother, Aaron becomes available!!! He also turns dut to reek class. And they're all Demons from birth.....AHHHHHH!..... Dream on Demons! Worth a punt!
  4. Luke Norman was rugged, tough, untalented, middle-sized and determined. He was one of several who tried unsuccessfully to stop Dunstall when he kicked about 10 against us in that memorable pre-merge round 22 game in 1996.
  5. I reckon our batsmen should attack the spinners immediately they're introduced into the attack. Greg Chappell used to do it to Underwood, and Steve Waugh and Dean Jones did it to the subcontinental offies with success. They have to use their feet, like Michael Clarke. Early risks have to be taken, before these guys get the psychological edge.
  6. When's Ponting going to learn.....???? If you win the toss,......BAT!!!!!!!!
  7. Can "The Recidivist Gouger" use up any of his 3 weeks in the NAB Cup? If so , it's ridiculous. It's insufficient penalty anyway for potentially blinding a victim. This hypocritical Crusader for the Green cause deserves everything he gets. Why are people so accepting of his vicious behaviour?
  8. Interesting stats. And also, it's relevant that Jack's been plagued by injury which has made him miss games, whereas "the gouger" seems to play week after week, despite early O.P. Worthwhile post, RIP Troy!
  9. I know it's irrelevant,I think Sherman's Ricky Ponting's cousin. Can anyone confirm that? I reckon he's a top class player. I like his desperation at the ball. But I must admit, I thought his absence from the team was through injury, not form, so I may have over-estimated him.
  10. Thanks, Jack. It was Nick Walsh (not all Irishmen are Murphys, are they, and he was pretty forgettable!).
  11. Previous Judd form....little known. While at Caulfield Grammar, playing v. St Kevins, Judd deliberately stomped on that Demon Irish rookie, Murphy's abdomen, and twisted his stops around.(so Murphy told me at a sponsors' night, before Judd was drafted.) When I hear news reports of thugs kicking heads and ribs of victims already on the ground, I wonder about the mentality of the perpetrators. What sort of person does that? But broken ribs and bumped heads get better in time. Eyes are incredibly delicate organs. The consequences of damage are permanent and debilitating. Is Judd too thick to know that? I don't think so. He just has that vicious streak that normal people can't understand. 2 weeks is ludicrously lenient for such a heinous crime. Yes, I wanted him at Melbourne. I wish he played for us. I'd be deeply ashamed of him if he did that while playing for our Club.
  12. [quote name='Adelaide Demon' "Eishold's miss is still the most unbelievable shot at goal of all-time." Simon Eishold marked that ball very near the point of the goal-square. Umpire Howlett, who was 50metres away when he took the excellent grab , designated the mark to be where he ended up after being crashed to the ground by his Hawk opponent. He ended up on quite a severe angle, about 30 degrees. The correct mark would have had him greater than 50 degrees(I was sitting pretty close to you, "Why You Little". If you've got the replay on disc or tape, slow it down , and watch Kennedy's "goal " at about the 10 minute mark of Q4 hit the post. Yeats also missed a sitter running into an open goal late in q4. After the game I just went home and went straight to bed!
  13. That thug Da Rui had just crunched Greg Healy unnecessarily and viciously, and Strawbs just ran in and swung an indiscriminate straight arm across Da Rui's upper body(?glancing his very ugly head), justifiably protecting his smaller team-mate. It was an absolutely crucial blow for us to lose O'Dwyer. The selectors took Danny Hughes out of the backline to play ruck in the GF. This disrupted our backline and didn't help the ruck. I doubt Abbott would have got 6 goals with tough Danny nearby.(I'm not suggesting it made 96 points difference!).
  14. [quote name='Stop: Jurrahtime' post='261043'" I think we snag Pick 18, hopefully Panos is still around then." On further reflection, it's pick 17, isn't it? First pick of the second round.
  15. Now the Dockers have beaten Essendon, we HAVE to come 16th, which means we take Tommy even if we beat the out of form Saints next week!I guess we're playing for Trengove, now! Pick 1, 2 and 19 is far better than 1 and 19!! Let's hope the Saints don 't rest their stars(despite the shorter break than us), and really go for it next week. The trouble is, using that reliable tipping guide of recent results.....we killed Freo by 10 goals. Freo killed Essendon by 6 goals. Essendon beat St Kilda. We should beat the Saints by 16 goals!
