  1. I heard on 3AW this morning that he had been sighted in New York
  2. 3 MFC members in my family - two of them got their cards in the mail, but mine came first and I just got the letter asking to renew online. Did anyone else not get a card?
  3. Is there a reason why we're not playing the ANZAC game with Sydney this year? Did we not request it, or did the AFL snub us in favour of Freo vs Geelong?
  4. Good, but doesn't it use a now out of date logo?
  5. I like it - better than our one
  6. That's right. In 2005 we lost 7 in a row, of which only 2 were at the MCG. We should be grateful that we play at the G at least every third week.
  7. Comment from MFC from afl.com.au: CEO Steve Harris: “We're quite happy with the competitive aspects of the 2008 fixture. Commercially, it has some pluses, but quite a few minuses. “We are pleased to have the AFL recognise our arguments and deliver 10 home games at the MCG - the most since 2003 - and no home games at Telstra Dome. And for the first time in a long time, we don't have anything less than six-day breaks. "It is again disappointing that Melbourne and Richmond - co-tenants of the MCG and in 2008 celebrating 150th and 100th birthday milestones respectively - have their first match at the Telstra Dome, and don't meet at the MCG until the last day of the season. It is also disappointing not to have a home game against Essendon, as we feel all Victorian clubs need to develop strong and regular rivalry matches to maximise appeal for fans and broadcasters alike. “Our Queen's Birthday clash with Collingwood will have a special attraction in our 150th year, and will be a real highlight, but every true Melbourne supporter should also embrace the clashes against our other local rivals, especially Carlton, Richmond, Hawthorn and Geelong.”
  8. Lucky Essendon gets 18 Vic matches and only 4 interstate
  9. What the hell? We play Hawthorn round 1 and round 9??? And we play Port once all year, in round 21?!? Crazy. Like the second half though.
  10. What would make me the angriest is if this Richmond-Melbourne match had been scheduled at Telstra Dome in order to allow Collingwood to have another MCG home match. I hate it when smaller clubs are pushed around by larger ones. And I think it would be good for us to have less free to air matches. It would get some supporters turning up to the matches instead of watching them at home.
  11. The full fixture will be released at 10.40am tomorrow on afl.com.au
  12. I guess now with the new logo this one is being phased out? So maybe not this strip. Royal blue epitomises what is crap about this club. I think we need to move forward i.e. get a new design altogether not go back to a time long gone now.
  13. Yep - which is why we shouldn't be including a third colour on the clash strip. While our current one is not so good, there is no need for a third colour to provide an alternate. I hated having to pick a third colour. And which marketing/management person thought teal would look good on an MFC jumper anyway??
  14. Got an email today addressing the following things: New logo - This is what was said in the email re: the logo: 'Two in three members thought that our new logo was as good as or better than our current logo. The new logo has been designed to highlight two of the strongest elements of our Club's heritage - our Red and Blue jumper and the fact that we are the Club of Melbourne. Some younger members did not like the new logo as much, and suggested that we need to have a different logo for kids. Our Demon mascot will continue to be used on junior Club merchandise and publications.' This is the logo: Jumper for 08 - Because the 150th birthday is so important, 'Some members have suggested that we signify our 150th Birthday on our guernsey, and we have decided that our special 150th Anniversary emblem will appear on our guernsey in 2008' You can see the 150th emblem thing under the V. New home - About the new stadium: 'Building of the new stadium, which will house training, administration and social facilities for our Club will commence before the end of the year, and it is estimated that we will move into our state-of-the-art new facilities before the start of the 2010 season.' I thought next year would be our last at Junction Oval but I guess not.
  15. Don't need the beard, he's the MFC cult hero of all time
  16. I agree. It's not the crappiness of our draw that pisses me off, its the great draws of other clubs (need I mention them). Fairness for the rest of the competition would be nice.
  17. Wasn't that a successful pickup for the Dons... Did he even play a match?
  18. Where does the article say anything about Travis? And the title is 'Shaw might head to Brisbane'.
  19. And now that I think about it, with Archer gone there too goes inspiration, leadership and obvious skill. Defence shall suck next year.
  20. CHF is the go. I've been thinking though - with the addition of Meesen we're going to have 4 ruckmen: White Jamar Johnson Meesen There's no point having them if we're not going to play them, so I'm thinking maybe one of Johnson or White to no longer be a 'ruckman' but to play this CHF role or something. I can't see the point in re-signing Jamar AND getting Meesen if we're also rucking White.
  21. A summary of Monday's progressions for the MFC: MELBOURNE General manager recruiting and list manager Craig Cameron: On Travis Johnstone: "Nothing has happened with Travis today. There hasn't been a lot [of interest in him]. There hasn't been many offers. It's a strange week, trade week. We don't use our players as bait but Travis' name is out there." On Brad Miller: "There's been a little bit of interest from Sydney. We'd like to keep Brad, so that's where we're at. It would have to be [a good offer]. On Crows ruckman John Meesen: "I think by the end of the week [a trade] should happen. At this stage, we haven't gone too far with it. It will probably be draft picks, but it's only Monday and by the time we get to Friday, or even by Wednesday, we'll have a better idea. I wouldn't have thought [we would trade] a second round [pick]." Adelaide says: On John Meesen: "Once again, we want [Melbourne's] pick 21 so we're just negotiating that. I want their second round pick and they've offered their third." From http://www.afl.com.au/Default.aspx?tabid=2...mp;newsId=52298 Like we're gonna give them pick 21...
  22. How come? Add Nathan Thompson to their '07 side and they couldn't possibly slide that far, could they?
  23. Geelong Hawthorn West Coast Port Adelaide Fremantle Brisbane Collingwood Kangaroos Melbourne St Kilda Adelaide Sydney Richmond Carlton Essendon Bulldogs
  24. I believe that Heath Hocking at Essendon has also been elevated off the rookie list - same time as Ramanauskas
