Great initiative and hopefully my $50 will be well enjoyed!!!
-
Well thank the lord for that...... This city has more than enough sporting events that no-one is currently attending!!!
-
Could have done that on the boys shirts yesterday :D !!!

It was a statement about the still in place partnership with Volvo.

So maybe people shouldn't be so quick to write a champion off? Finished with 4-66 and polished off an admittedly poor tail, nicely....... Bowled well last nght and did well again this morning, so maybe a little respect would kill <_< .

Sounds like a genuinely awsome facility you have got there Scorp........

Cheers for that great report melbman !!!

Congratulations to Andy and Mrs Demonland, that is wonderful news :D !!!

I actually thought Haddin looked better out there today than he has throughout his test career thus far. He just seemed more relaxed, so hopefully that can translate into his batting which is something he is struggling with. Although I can't see an obvious replacement atm and he has earned the right to be there. Lee was far better this afternoon the wicket he took was after an outstanding spell and hopefully he will grab that and go forward. Oddly enough all the quicks had just about the exact same figures at the end of play.

Demons to Name Pick Number 1 early, good or bad?
QueenC replied to Redleg's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yeah thanks for putting those down Redleg, it does tend to give the impression of us leaning towards Watts...... But I guess we will all just have to bite our nails while we wait and see !!! -
Good grief you really are disrespectful and forgetful.......

Cheers Haydo, I just wanted to double check before the question marks appeared again...... At the end of the day we hope that the club makes the right call for what we need - whether they deem that to be Watts or NikNat - but to try and interpret, question and insinuate what a player may or may not be capable of in the years to come from a brief converstaion at promo event seems a little nutty. Lets take what was said and believe it until we have further knowledge, its not long now. And thanks Haydo, WJ & Rogue for their very comprehensive reports on the event last night, it makes those of us living far far away feel like we were there!!!

Fingers crossed H, fingers crossed !!! -
Wasn't there a distinct "yet" in that statement?

I just heard that Scott West will be appearing on Fox Sports News - New and Views tonight. That is on between 9pm and 10pm on Channel 513.

Lee was incredibly ill throughout the tour of India, particularly in the last test and upon getting home, and bowled badly losing a lot of pace....... It was improved in this match although his second innings was not particularly impressive, but for me his first innings was easily the best of our quicks, and the best he has bowled since last summer. He may not have got all the wickets (two or three I think) but he was superb and that was a good sign. He generally thrives on long spells and gets better the longer he is bowling so hopefully by the time the Saffies get to Perth he will be better again. And also lets hope that the Perth pitch gives the quicks something to get excited about and isn't just a batting mecca as it has been in recent times. I always liked it when it was a little dangerous and gave the bowlers something to play on (then again I like that in all pitches so current times do annoy me a lot)

Australia selectors drop Shane Watson from squad for second Test in Adelaid
-
I hope for Brock, as I see him being the best and obvious choice going forward (and I will apologise for that cliche up front!!)....... I hope that the club has the guts to actually appoint him though, as while I have been a fan of Green's I don't see it happening, Bruce is simply not the right choice and a step backwards captaincy wise IMO, and McDonald will be hard pressed to hand onto his position for the year (his final year). McLean to me is the obvious choice both now, and moving into our hopefully successful future !!!
-
After being in hospital for the past few days I come home to this great news...... My feelings have been very well summed up by Nasher here, but beyond that I hope that West will prove to be a fantastic appointment both now and into the future. His knowledge, undertanding (hopefully he will have the ability to impart this on our kids as a teacher) and application to the game over such a long peiod of time is invaluable to our young up and comers, who we can only hope will learn enormously as they grow. And it is also nice for a true champion of the game to chose us, and be "excited" about coming to work with our kids and with our coaching staff. That's a pretty big change from recent times !!!

Demons to Name Pick Number 1 early, good or bad?
QueenC replied to Redleg's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't have an issue with this.......... That is as long as the idea behind it is to generate some more much-needed publicity for the club, which in turn may help in our sponsor hunt. But I have to ask, wouldn't the "chosen" kid already know? Or at least know before Saturday? Or is it totally up in the air for him too. -
And done a stint in a rehab program.......allegedly !!!
-
So I guess just being "Roy" is enough to get selected these days, as he has done bugger all else to deserve the nod....... Symonds will play against Kiwis I feel for both Krezja and Watson (fighting for the last spot apparently) who frankly deserved better coming out of India.

Which is all well and good, and probably necessary for PR purposes...... But this regimen is a massive way off the AFL actual drug code (which is weak in my opinion anyway) and what the other players in the comp, including the half dozen or so with two strikes next to their names have to abide by to keep playing. I understand the difference here and it is a very public one, but it is not up to the AFL to keep Cousins clean, especially when it seems to not really worry about the other players who haven't been so spectacularly outed. As for him potentially playing for Melbourne, I would be perfectly fine with it, despite the obvious gamble involved, and I genuinely hope he is able to stay clean and goes well when he does get back to the game, but it is completely irrelevant because it isn't going to happen, so maybe we should move on !!!

He's about 30'ish I think, and I think you will find that Kallis is a bit older.
