Looks like good forward planning by someone with the best interests of the club at heart. Fairly disappointing the attitude some supporters (not aimed at WW by the way) take towards a premiership club president, mostly because of a single poor interview.

This is a classic case of being a good employer. He's been with the club more than 10 years, has clearly given everything and isn't a huge asset (from a financial/picks point of view like Petracca or Pickett). My view is this is likely his all time career best year so importance is overstated. AFL clubs have a bit of a history with this kind of trade and trying to build goodwill for future trades (the anti-Dodoro if you will). Frankly will it matter if we get 35 instead of 28?
-
I follow a lot of English/European soccer - star players are untouchable until they're not. Irreconcilable differences are irreconcilable until they're fixed. Which pragmatically they usually are. I don't want Petracca to leave but if he forces the issue, the club has an incredibly strong hand with a 5 year contract and a competition top 5 player in the mix. I can't see how there is a conversation with anyone other than Carlton based on information currently available but see how the dust settles over the next few weeks

Adelaide's 2nd rounder (circa 28) is about right as a stand alone deal. I'd keep him if he didn't want to go, but anything beyond that for a 29yo who is a decent role player but nothing beyond that is probably delusional

Sunday footy show - Who is the greatest Demon of all time?

Depends on your criteria I guess, but Norm Smith not getting a look in? Champion player and probably the best coach of all time, with a combined 10 flags in both roles (all for Melbourne) -
He got a week. Consistent with the Kozzie decision - any head high rough conduct will get a minimum medium impact even if there's no actual damage

Most entertaining stat line at 1/4 time - Sicily on track to have 60 touches, 36 marks, and to have 8 goals kicked on him

Hawthorn's style of footy is tedious. 4 billion sideways possessions and no attack....
-
That may be the best well rounded quarter of football I've ever seen him play

Amiss is a beautiful kick for goal

Awaiting the announcement of our new sunbed partner...

Good call. Also the NBA style team +/- when a player is on the field, though doing this with 36 players at a time rather than 10 may be a bit tricky...

If our culture is so fragile that it requires Oliver having an unofficial and hidden (from the public/supporters) first team suspension to not shatter it, we have some pretty deep issues. I don't have blind faith in the club, but I don't believe that we have problems of that magnitude. If you believe in selection integrity, there is absolutely no rational justification for Oliver not playing given he has been reintegrated into the team and has played two practice matches.

If Oliver is fit enough to play footy and is available for selection, he plays AFL. Simple as that.

Is really finishing 7th or 8th such a massive achievement that it needs to be protected? Can't see that it has an impact on 1-6. Carlton missed the finals last year by about a goal in percentage, we missed it in 2020 by half a game - I'd be happy for it to be brought in, especially going to 19/20 teams in the next few years.
