That moment against Adelaide had me fuming more than the dropped marks, and he did a couple of similar efforts last night. Admittedly he cracked in more for the rest of the game and flew for a couple of pack marks which was good to see, but these days you need 22 blokes hunting opposition players. Not sure that part really clicks for Jack. Skills were well off last night but that doesn't concern me too much, they will come with confidence. Just needs to clunk a mark of kick a big goal and that side of his game will come back. I think he stays in the team for the foreseeable future.

I think he has been just ok so far in the first 3 rounds, but in saying that, I see him as an atheltic lock down defender like his brother. If they were intending on keeping him forward and second ruck, I would rather Pedersen who is not as athletic but a much more natural forward and a better mark.

Jack Watts did many terrible things yesterday, but not getting involved in a melee is not one of them.

Agree. I must watch a different game to others, but I think Kent was good today, and I actually think he has been good in the first two rounds also.

Adelaide v Melbourne POST MATCH DISCUSSION - ROUND 3

And also, I am a big fan of Dangerfield, but I am getting sick of the throw the head back playing for a free kick manoeuvre. -

They are actually pretty pissweak comments. You won because you were a more mature and composed side. -
Adelaide v Melbourne POST MATCH DISCUSSION - ROUND 3

Couldn't agree more. Jamar was more than fine today. Going in with Spencer/Dawes or Gawn/Frost would still scare the life out of me. Jamar got monstered by Mummy in the second half last week, but apart from that he has been very good this year. -
Adelaide v Melbourne POST MATCH DISCUSSION - ROUND 3
Forest Demon replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just finished watching, and I thought it was a solid 4 quarter effort, but we let ourselves down with a couple of obvious things. - Converting. Jeffy and The Hulk both missed crucial shots at crucial times. For Jeffy, it is a bit of an ongoing thing, so a bit concerning. He looks so dangerous apart from his set shots, would almost prefer him play on and snap it. - Jack Watts, my oh my. What a god awful performance. -
The things he does well, he does really well, but he just provides too many meek efforts and today is not the first time he has dropped marks like that.
-
16 odd points up 2 minutes from quarter time, Jack Watts drops two absolute ponies, and bang bang, we go into quarter time with a slender 2 or 3 point lead. Sometimes he makes it really hard for us.

Did I miss something?

We have had a relatively a good run with injury so far this year, just a pity it happened to be one of the small handful who have strung 2 good games together.
-
Brayshaw plays, and not as the sub, for me. Not because he is young and we need to get games into him, but because he is in our best 22 and our midfield looks better with him in it. He won't star week in and week out, and might even have the odd stinker, but I still think he is a better player as it stands than many others competing for the same spot.

Dawes' good games are the ones where he is up the ground halving contests when outnumbered (which he did once excellently early on last week), harassing opposition defenders with fierce tackling, and a huge workrate. He is never going to be a big breakout forward who kicks 5 goals, but he can do an important job, which he didn't do last Saturday. It just seems he has one of these great games every 5 or 6 weeks, where he is everywhere and contesting further up the ground, but he needs to do that each week as his hands aren't reliable enough to play deeper and kick 3 goals a week.

Manuka and the ridiculously biased ground announcer.

On the Tele, it sounded like the Melbourne crowd was as vocal as the GWS contingent. What was it like there? -
Is this founded or just speculation? Genuine question. He seems like he has a bit of attitude, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing and I thought he was one of only a handful who tried to chase when they got on top, and he was dangerous in the first half.
-
And that is often while shutting an opposition player down. Actually quite baffling people would even consider dropping him.

More bad luck for (former demon) Ricky Petterd
Forest Demon replied to whatwhat say what's topic in Melbourne Demons
Unlucky for Petterd, I quite liked him. An ok player who showed some glimpses when he was here. He was one of the first of Neeld's many victims. Always have a soft spot for ex-Dees who were delisted or traded for peanuts, but found a home elsewhere. -
2013 Draft re-visited - Bound for Glory
Forest Demon replied to BrisbaneDemon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bontempelli has been astonishing so far. On exposed form, he is head and shoulders above the likes of Salem, who should still become an excellent player in his own right. -
Suprisingly most posts have only suggested 1 or 2 changes, and mostly for team balance. A thumping this week and we can all go back to naming 6 or 7 changes a week and every second poster posting titanic_deckchairs.jpg

I think Frost either needs to play as the defender he was recruited to be, or go out for a runner. Dawes plays, but he has to do second ruck duties. No worse of a second ruck than Frost, and he can use his much touted competitiveness in there. The rubber mits he was wearing on Saturday might actually be useful in the ruck also. B - Jetta, McDonald, Dunn HB - Salem, Garland, Lumumba C - Newton Tyson Vince HF - Howe Dawes Kent F - Watts Hogan Garlett R - Jamar Viney Jones INT - Cross Brayshaw Toumpas SUB - Vandenberg OUT: Frost IN: Toumpas

And there was so much to play for, we were an hour away from being 2-0 to start a season. And from where we have been, that would have been a great start to the season.
-
Those numbers are damning, especially 14 less clearances and 28 less inside 50's. And all that in a game we were winning by 5 goals at one stage. I am, perhaps foolishly, willing to sweep it under the rug this once, but if we see numbers like this on the weekend, and over the course of 4 quarters, we would be looking down the barrel of a 100+ point thumping.

Do you reward those who were good in the first half or first quarter to be exact), or punish those who were terrible in the second half. Because they were pretty much the same bunch.
-
Yep, I knew they would come out firing and perhaps even get on top, but I wasn't expecting what happened and it was so disappointing to see when we all thought we were past these insipid performances. I could run thought 16 or 17 of the 22 that just rolled over. Devastating performance.
