  1. I'm sure if that's the issue and Yze was willing to retire (doubtful), they could make up some sort of injury. There would be a way of getting around it. And it's unlikely other clubs would give a stuff as the Dees wont be playing finals.
  2. Dew has been spending plenty of time on the back flank for the Hawks. And Boyle hasn't been playing lately has he? Osborne, Ladson and some resting mids spend a bit of time up there.
  3. On that note, i was checking out the scores today and this got to me a little bit. Now i have Aussie in my Dream Team but have a look at his stats compared to Steven Salopek's and their resulting scores. Salopek had 11 more kicks, 7 more handballs, exact same efficiency, 3 more uncontested marks (both had 0 contested marks), 21 more uncontested possessions, 1 more contested possession, 8 more inside 50's, both had 1 clanger and had an extra free-kick FOR (both 0 AGAINST). Aussie had 1 more tackle, 1 more goal and 1 more assist and scored 9 more points than Salopek. This doesn't make much sense to me. Thoughts....
  4. What state are you from cos it looked like he was wearing a Mentone Grammar uniform in a couple of his pictures.
  5. I think they were being sarcastic mate. I don't think anyone actually thought Brent Grgic was in the house.
  6. I would also tip Melbourne but as i said earlier, they way Melbroune were/are playing it definately begs the question and that there is even discussion about this says so much for how Melbourne are playing.
  7. McLean is far too overated on this forum. A couple of seasons ago he looked to be a superstar on the rise but has come to a complete stof over the past 18-24 months. (I realise he has had injuries too.) No club would take him and !7 and offload 2. I don't reckon there is a player on the list that a side would take along with pick 17 in exchange for pick 2.
  8. I don't think "like-for-like" switchs are that necessary for a side 0 and 5. It's obviously not working as is, so unlike-for-unlike switches would be more appropriate.
  9. That is the funnies thing i have ever read. Morton putting his body on the line. In all his games he has noticeably backed off a contest. Commentators have been noticing it but saying they'll go easy on him because of his youth. ie. Guerra sliding in at him round 1. There has been a couple every game. And just for the record i really rate Cale. I think he is a super talent, and will be a top player in the competition if he can learn to put his body on the line.
  10. I was aware of that and waiting for someone to say that. Contested possesion isn't winning your own ball always. Look at Aussie's last game where he had 12 possesions for the game, all contested. Look back and see if every possesion he had he won his own ball in a true contest.
  11. What do you mean by that? It's got nothing to do with the press. I laughed at everyone on this forum that predicted Melbourne to be a Top 8 and even a Top 4 side this year before all that bad press started coming. They're a poor side in desperate need of many changes.
  12. B: Paul Wheatley, Nathan Carroll, Colin Garland F: Austin Wonaeamirri , Nick Sautner, Ben Holland HB: Ricky Petterd, Daniel Bell, James McDonald HF: Addam Maric, Rod Crowe, Lynden Dunn C: Brad Green, Brock McLean, Simon Buckley C: John Meesen, Ezra Poyas, Chad Liddell HF: Cameron Bruce, Brad Miller, Adem Yze HB: Clint Bartram, Jarred Rivers, Matthew Whelan F: Michael Newton, David Neitz, Russell Robertson B: Stef Martin, Chris Lamb, Andy Biddlecombe Foll: Jeff White, Aaron Davey, Nathan Jones Foll: Mark Jamar, Peter Summers, Shane Valenti Int: Paul Johnson, Brent Moloney, Cale Morton, Isaac Weetra Int: Marc Johnston, Matt Warnock, Sam Monaghan, Tomi Johnston, James Frawley Here we go. I know there is 5 on the bench for the Sandy team but I went back and looked at the team list for that day and couldn’t work out which player didn’t player. Anyway, obviously match-ups and position could be changed but have a look. I know in best form the MFC side would win hands down but think about the current football each player is playing. You’ve got 5 MFC players already back playing for Sandy, a couple injured and a few others that are definitely on their way or on the fringe of being dropped- Neitz (I know injured but in poor form), Robbo, Moloney. And many other who have put in maybe one or two good game for the dees this year – Davey, Brock, Green and then you’ve got some others who are just getting a game but would be no where near at most other clubs- Bruce, Green, Miller and the young bodied Morton who didn’t do that much when playing for Sandy but has to be given a game at the moment considering his youth, draft selection and the look towards the future.
  13. He got AA selection as a negative player and got picked because of his improvement from years prior. Melbourne supporters love him but ask any ohter supporter/player/coach of another team of their true opinion and theyll say he is an honest player at best. And i know i've only mentioned 8 names cos i can't be bothered getting fully into it. I'm telling you that the team that played for Sandringham against Box Hill a month ago would give the team that was on the park for Melbourne when they got beaten by 100 odd points by Hawthorn a run for their money. Not saying that they would win but to even bring up this conversation is an embarrassment for the MFC and is why they're doing so poorly. Obviously someone else agreed to start up this topic and i can tell you that this isn't the only place it has been seriously discussed.
  14. He wants to follow his mate to Carlton. He is contracted untill the end of 2009 but if he really wants to go i reckon a deal could be done as WCE would want to get something for him. Especially if their season keeps going the way it is and they might have to start look at rebuilding the list with youth for a tilt at the premiership in 5 years time.
  15. I know alot more than you think buddy. The thing i'm saying is that for starters it wasn't melbournes best 22 - Weetra for example. Also there were a number of guys playing for Sandy who are in Melbourne's best 22 - Rivers, Dunn, Holland ( I'd prefer him than Robbo or Neitz at the moment). I would also back the likes of Crowe to beat Garland, and Lamb/Biddlecombe to beat Neitz/Robbo in the present state. Summers and Valenti could match it with Jones and Junior. And before you pipe up about Junior winning 2 B&F's, he's really not that good a player. He's done it over a couple of years where much better players have missed big chunks of the season.
  16. There's no rule saying that they have to promote someone at all. After all, it's just gonna mean a club battling financially has to fork out more cash. They're not going to promote anyone unless they are certain of playing in the next couple of weeks. Otherwise it's just a waste of $$$.
  17. It would be closer than alot of you think. Especially the Round 1 Melbourne side vs. the Sandy side that lined up in a practice match that week. I would say that game would have been decided by less than a few goals. Sandy had Rivers, Holland, Dunn. Melbourne had Weetra, Morton (will be good but far too soft and cant get his own ball) and a whole heap of players who just weren't in form. If someone can go through and find the 2 sides of that week and match them up they'll see what i'm talking about.
  18. He played today for Sandy. Went ok and got a few kicks. Nothing special but would imagine he'll go straight up with the way the Dees are travelling at the moment.
  19. Did play 2's last week and got only 9 touches in an entire game of footy. Will struggle to get back to Sandy 1's for the rest of the year.
  20. The reason Moloney isn't mentioned might be because he isn't injured....funny that.
  21. Meesen has got to do something first to get a game. No matter what you may think, Jamar's form at Sandy has been truckloads better than that of Meesen's. Expect Jamar there for another couple of weeks.
  22. Apart from mentioning Black twice i reckon you've got a pretty good side. Bring in either the other Cornes or Burboyne for this but all in all both sides are pretty sport on i reckon. ALthough Cox will start if fit and perhaps Lade instead of Leunberger. After all, Leunberger really hasn't done that much and i would definately prefer Charman or even Lade (late inclusion) in my team.
  23. Me thinks the best player in the league will get a gig starting in the centre square instead of on a wing. And perhaps maybe playing backs in the backline instead of Lappin and Murphy. Perhaps Heath Shaw and Milburn could take up these positions as they regularly play there and are in better form and more deserving than those two anyway.
  24. He might be a chance to head down to Sandringham. Re-ignite an old flame with Andy Lovell. Andy played with Ben (i think) and was an assistant coach to him for a couple of years.
  25. With the 12/10 rule in place as mentioned, things could get interesting with 2 of those Melbourne players not getting a game. The obvious choice would be Weetra and then probably Warnock considering they'll probably pick Spencer as the back-up ruckmen.
