Does the club need a full and external review?
waynewussell replied to DeesignerAU's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was against having an external review (I was never against an internal review). I'm a 'close ranks when under fire' sort of person and when we were being bombarded from all quarters, I preferred to trust those we have in official elected/appointed positions. However, I acknowledge the strong feelings of many MFC supporters and ex-players and ex-officials, who think that an external review is required. I haven't seen a transcript of what Nathan Jones has said, but he is the tipping point for me... bring it on! -
I'm pleased that the July 1st, post ICU, interview on the MFC site was aired on OTC. I think it was first quoted on DL by Demon Dynasty. I've been spreading it far and wide since. I tried to encourage Gerard Whately to refer to it on Saturday morning after his acidic diatribe against MFC office bearers but couldn't get through. Thanks again DD.

It is difficult to comprehend the dichotomy between what Ralphy is reporting and this statement by Christian: "I make no apologies for wanting to better our club and contribute to our success both on and off the field".
-
If that is the case, it seems rather erratic behaviour if placed in context with other things Christian has said publicly since the injury.

The most interesting point in Wilson's monologue is that Kate Roffey discussed with Smith, two weeks ago, his coming on board and possibly taking over from her as President... Before the so-called 'train wreck' interview with Whateley... Before Morris called her position untenable (hinting at a possible racist point of view she expressed about players getting homesick) It seems Kate, after 8 years on the MFC Board and three years as President, has managed her own exit according to her own priorities.

There are nearly as many improbable assumptions here as you would find in a Tom Morris exclusive! -

Dante’s Peak 11: A do-gooder football supporter arrives at a football club recently named as having the best culture for 40 years and fails to notice that a two-bit media journalist concocts a story to get as many clicks as possible on social platforms. -
It's about his appreciation for the support he received from the Club. It's recorded three weeks after his injury and very soon after he exited ICU. It will still be relevant ten years from now! It's a crystal-clear record of how he felt at the time. Remember, this is the exact time that the negative mainstream media built their case about his supposed disgruntlement!

Christian Petracca rehab.mp4
-
I continue to encourage every supporter to watch “A sit down with Christian Petracca”, an interview posted on the official MFC site three weeks after Tracc got injured. Overlooked by mainstream media because it doesn’t fit their preferred narrative!
-
In late news, Damian Barrett has said that the whole Petracca/Contaldo mix up could have been avoided if the MFC CEO and President had picked up the phone and spoken to Contaldo’s family about whether he was still living in Italy!
-
Tom Morris exclusive! Tom Morris just broke the news that Christian Petracca may not have actually been drafted by Melbourne. He says he has conclusive evidence, after overhearing a discussion between three patrons who resembled Melbourne players in the Bullring Bar, that the person Melbourne drafted is actually Gennaro Contaldo, legendary as the chef who taught Jamie Oliver how to cook Italian food. ... Gerrard Whateley called for the immediate resignation of the entire MFC Board and Football Department over their lack of due diligence. Sam McClure suggested that there was more coming on this sensational scoop, and he wondered why the real Christian Petracca hadn’t used his social media channels to refute the suggestion that he is not a very good cook after all! Meanwhile, Kane Cornes asked listeners to vote in an online poll on who they thought would be a worthy replacement for him as he switches from 9 to 7. The choices are 1) Pope Francis 2) Elvis

This is the scramble that comes when the pundits realize they have missed the mark and need to desperately back over previous assumptions and hysteria to justify point of view.

Does the club need a full and external review?

We need an external review about as much as we need a specific former club president to be reinstated... ... as much as all 17 other AFL clubs need an external review... ... as much as we need Morris back in our comms... ... as much as we need to relocate to the old version of Junction Oval... ... as much as we need Adrian Anderson to represent the next MFC player to appeal a suspension... ... as much as we need the Angry Batmobile to lead the team through the banner at the G each home game... Get my drift? -
Answer: When Max thinks it’s time!
-
Let me see... Max is widely regarded as one of the best Captains we have had, one of the best in the comp. He has just come off his 7th AA and has been the public face of the efforts to retain Tracc. He is still regarded as the best ruckmen in the AFL, spoken of as one of the best all time! Hey... I've got a good idea, let's move him on! HAHAHAHAHA!

Go away... very few of us can be bothered reading your posts, we simply scroll down to the next. I didn't even read more than your first two lines of this one!

The only one who needs to go is dear old picket... backed a loser again, have we?

Are we making an assumption when we think that Pert and Roffey are on the same page?
-
I've attached a few videos to this thread to remind us about Kate Roffey's background and leadership style. They may be too long for the average punter to digest, but I think they give us some insight into her performance in her recent interview with Gerard Whateley. I don't expect anyone to change their mind about the interview, but supporters should not be surprised at how she responded. I read somewhere, quite some time ago, that Kate doesn't believe in relying on written notes when it comes to public speaking. She has trust in her ability to find the right words in responding in an honest and direct manner. It's obvious that this style didn't impress many when it came to the peppering that Whateley provided, but why would anyone be surprised by Kate's approach?
