How good was Langdon? Brayshaw was huge when needed, May and Viney as well. Tough and hard. I like the way they help the opposition up off the deck when needed, then drive them into it when needed, like Zac Jones. We got the better Jones!

TMac had a poor year, injuries. Keep him, he is Melbourne through and through. Love his effort and accuracy and professionality. He clunks marks when needed. Just remember when he was fit in the forward line with Hogan in 2018. Kicking 50 goals in a season is not common any more.

I'm not arguing with you, we are doing better. Above 15, can you guarantee a player? If you draft a top 15 player you are choosing a 10 year player. They'll be good for ten years, more than likely they'll top some obscurse tally figure. Its choosing the bottom 6 of your team that wins premierships.

Jason Taylor is doing a great job with who he has recruited. Time will tell. Not sure the 'criteria' of what he stacks up everytime, however I watch footy on a Saturday. I'm not an expert, I moderately like the game, occasionally. However it is obvious he knows more than the rest of us. 1. Oliver 2. Tracc 3. Brayshaw 4. Rivers 5. Jackson 6. Sparrow 7. Pickett (should have twice as many goals) 8. Langdon There are plenty more of his recruits to come through, he is setting us up for another 5 years. They need time to develop and the coaches and dieticians to do that.

Sparrow is a solid player. Give him time. Skinny player don't fill out all the time, if any good they become rangey. A reach and flexible Gumby like physical. Morton didn't fill out.

Love Jayden Hunt. Goodwin needs to play him on the wing or half back where his speed and attacking is an adavantage. "You win with your strengths" D. Neitz Goody has never given him a decent go. The highlights package didn't show the torp in Alice either, right on the siren. He needs the opportunity. His tank will get bigger as he gets older. Early on, it wasn't just him, the whole team needed stability. Keep him. JT can't find a player better than him for the price we'll get for him. Reduce trading and stabilise those we have. And yes, I can't recall who said, he's been over coached. Let him have his head and let him go.

I was there early and left when it rained. I'm made of paper. Saw a bit of most of them. Lever running laps, Hannan walked a lap, not much more. Jones looks good. Preuss looked a bit tired from the run on Sunday. Jetta looked sharp. AVB is going to hurt a few this year. I wish Stretch had the size of Maynard, he is super fit, his accuracy was good today and he looks the part of a winger. Good luck chasing him all game. Tom Sparrow is the one to look for. He'll play this year. Just like the Man From Snowy River, the horse is 3 parts thoroughbred and a little undersized. He is young and will bulk up. He did a low jump, great scoop and handball off his feet to the running player. Followed it up by a beautiful long kick into the 50 for a mark. Good decision making as there were options and he hit his target unopposed. McCartney said hello over the fence and said something about the weather, very friendly. There were only 15 non MFC on the sidelines. OMac was running sprints with AVB there for a while. The new No1 May, had a lovely receive and kick into the F50. He'll get there, just needs a little longer for the preseason. Trac was switched on today, he was good. Fast, clean and accurate. Jones took a mark in F50 and Clarry came over and started pushing him around. Jones then slotted it. Saying both are comfortable at this level. Watch for Joel MacDonald in the F50 this year, with his size and speed, he is going to be tough to tag. He'll get the third tall defender and will roast them.

Wines had the mature body, Toumpas didn't. A big difference to the immediate playing team. If you don't have the size, it doesn't matter how much talent you have. You'll just get pushed off the ball. Years of watching Cale Morton has shown this.

It is good to read that "the saviour" tag from one or two draftees has been reduced from the last five years. With quality recruiting and a handful or genuine talented youngsters, we are not relying on Watts or Scully and Trengove to get us up the ladder. It takes a decent rotation of 12 midfielders, coming from half forward and half back and the bench to be competitive. Looking at the players today and the pressure is shared, no longer on Watts' head and shared between a few. Salem, Viney, VB, Gus, Petracca, Oli, Bugg, that is half our rotation delivered in less than 3 years. Watts, Jones, The awesome Bernie Vince, Kent, Tyson, they have the older heads and will lead these guys. Add the mid age recruits and it makes it more plausible and hopeful. It was hot out there today and breaking a sweat was par for the course, even for those not running!
