Farewell Brodie Grundy
Goldstein has already played in prelims and finals. He's at the tail end of his career now and won't ever play finals again, unless he can last 5 years. Not having a go at club loyalty, he's already payed and some to North, and owes them nothing. Different situation to Robert Flower, or Nathan Jones for that matter who only made finals at the end after a career of loyalty and determination to take the club there. Goldstein isn't on that same timeline. I brought it up because the person I was replying to suggested Goldstein for a year or two next year, and there's just no way its happening because Goldstein wants to retire a one club player.

Not a top 10 pick though. I don't like Bell at the best of times, but I can def understand why they'd be annoyed about this particular trade request given the time sunk into Henry's development.

Essendon, Port Adelaide, North Melbourne need an immediate big bodied defender.

The 2023 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
He wants to captain the team to 10,000 days without a finals victory

Not an apt comparison. It would be more like if Mac Andrew was drafted by us, having spent 5 years developing in our academy. And sought a trade in year 4 after finally playing 17 decent games in a role he'd made his own.

2 years at 500k remaining, when he did not get any senior games last year, is a hell of a lot different to 1 year at 500k and numerous senior games where he played very well. Will be at least 3 clubs looking at him to take in that year and smooth it out with two more on less coin. If it's not us doing the same.

I remember this forum in 2019. Balance was the major talking point for our on field issues. We addressed our issues via trade (Langdon) and drafting of course (Kosi, LJ) - but I do think things can go south very quickly when you try and fit a few square pegs into round holes, the team dynamic suffers and the flag/finals can suddenly get out of your reach when you gather some momentum in the loss column.

PREGAME: QF vs Collingwood
Wasn't it the Lions in 2004 that tried to beat Port up with fists because they knew that Port had their measure on the field in the GF? No wonder Chris Scott and Sook McCrae use the flu/gastro excuse whenever the lose and can't handle it. Their Thug coach also couldn't handle losing and belted opponents off the ball.

FIXTURE: 2023 Finals
Does that mean us or Collingwood would host a Saturday prelim to play what's most likely Port who are locked in to Saturday Night semi? Whereas the Friday night semi between Coll v Carlton would then end up meeting the Lions in a prelim at the Gabba on a Friday Night?

Is anybody going to summon @Chook in Perth on any murmurings over this potential pick trade - He had the good mail in the past! Edit: I consider myself a nobody!

Jake Melksham Injury
Can we re-draft Cam Pederson as a mature age rookie next year for 1 season until Melky recovers then? 😜 Dont mind me 🍻

From Lukewarm Beveridge to Boiling Hot Beveridge- NON-MFC: Rd 24 2023
Port would probably prefer Brisbane at the GABBA than the Pies at the G IMO. For some reason interstate teams have never feared playing interstate against non-vic sides, regular season or finals.- NON-MFC: Rd 24 2023
Oh well, an mcg final v Collingwood is probably a better matchup than the a 2v3 mcg home final vs the Lions. Given Hoyne has the Lions equal with us as the best teams in it with 17/25 premeirship metrics filled. Bitter pill to swallow though given WE EARNT that 2nd spot on the ladder.- PREGAME: Rd 24 vs Sydney

George on the Outer absolutely spot on with his ins on the podcast (Catching up now) - Although I don't think we'll "beat Sydney regardless" because they're on a pretty big winning streak and we would actually have play at our best to get over the line, AND it could be a bruising affair like last years QF. If 2nd is on the line then we'll go for it.
