  1. I think we should be more desperate to take a low risk punt on an experienced key forward if we can't get ourselves in order by the end of the year, than to recruit another casey vfl depth player.
  2. This is a persistent opinion, but it seems like low hanging fruit to me. Surely there is more strings to his bow than this often remarked comment about goals out the back. 278 goals from 140 games has to account for something surely? Edit: He monstered Rance too so he has shown ability as a key forward, maybe he just needs a fresh start?
  3. Matt Lloyd mentioned us as one of 5 clubs that should be enquiring about Jenkins for next year. Justification was that Jenkins having been omitted and behind Himmelberg, missed out on some confidence boosting matches against GCS & St Kilda that got their forwards back into some form and if he's not being selected, then he should look at another club with key forward needs that would take him on. I personally would like to see how we function in the 2nd half of the year with our key backs hopefully returned and in form, which may give Tmac, Weid & Preuss some added confidence with more time together, before hunting another forward. However if Jenkins came cheap, he has the kind of imposing frame and perhaps some experience that could aid us next year. And a wake up call that he's only got a couple of years left to make an impact could see him put together a decent year or two.
  4. He should be on the demonland banner
  5. Who is in defence? Same question applies to the offensive firepower of our 2000 team.
  6. We may as well invest in Sam Reid for a bag of chips as Patton will be expensive given Hawthorn are suitors. Edit: And I don't get this forward recruitment talk just yet. Lets see how we're going with May and Lever down back first.
  7. Goody is probably thinking "Nah, Tim Smith's earned his spot" which is obviously not an answer to the question (Will Weid be dropped?) that many fans are asking this week.
  8. I thought we were offering 750k to Gaff at one early stage in last years race, while we still had Hogan? Or was this [censored]?
  9. But taking it to the other extreme is not helpful either. Clarko chasing him, therefore he must be worth getting? It's completely needs based. Hawthorn only have Roughhead who'll retire, they could be desperate to give cap space to anyone. Need people be reminded of Vickery...
  10. You'd offer him up and the first round pick for Josh Kelly and maybe a 2nd or 3rd round pick coming back, if GWS were in the same situation like GOld Coast with May, as in wanted to get more compo instead of waiting another year for free agency. But I think we have to use that pick AND Josh Kelly probably will stay. Otherwise keep him.
  11. I'd like to see how May, Lever & Frost function together and how that impacts on TMAC & Weid with Hannan, VDB and "the crumbers", before chasing a forward that comes at a big price...
  12. You could say he torpedo'd him out of the club..
  13. May came back so overweight that they had to put him in the middle of the banner.
  14. I for one can't wait to see Spargo up against Ben Brown: Rd 23 TBA BA (A)
  15. If we're imagining dream scenario's, i'd prefer the 'pick 6 gun running around this year with Lever in defence and FA May joining us for round 1 2020' scenario over yours ?
  16. Just finished watching the game on delay. And let out an audible "[censored] Steven May" at the conclusion of the match for coming back unfit. As a result of a thought about how dysfunctional our forward line is without Hogan. I know there are many problems, but this one just seems like the domino pushing over the others.
  17. I watch on delay, so My MO is to skip ahead/fast forward when i get the sense the opposition is about to get a run on with my eye on the scoreboard changes to confirm. Rewind when we score a goal to see it. Then continue. I pretty much skipped over the entire 2nd half last week. Which saves me an hour of my life.
  18. Nothing is going to change. Just listen to our captains given reason for our form: “We want to play hard footy and we want to win. We’re not doing that and as a result we’re not winning, so we’ve got to change that.” Crack in harder and everything will be ok apparently.
  19. Even though i've mocked the captain for condensing all of what i perceive as gameplan issues against fast teams down to 'hardness' - we're lucky in that we're coming up against Richmond, the 2017/18 style measuring stick. where hardness and extraordinary effort might actually be the defining characteristic of matching the Tigers and winning tomorrow. I just hope our forwards and mids defend the ground ball/rebound in the forward line with their life ie with hardness! A gritty win will alleviate some of these sorrows at least for a week. What would be totally ironic would be if RIchmond, sensing that our club has been waiting for a year to redeem ourselves since last years chaosball championship , adopt the framework layed by others ie WCE control/possession and spread game style and beat us that way.
  20. “We want to play hard footy and we want to win. We’re not doing that and as a result we’re not winning, so we’ve got to change that.” Why are you blokes rattling on about prelim reviews and gameplans? It's only about hardness apparently according to our captain Hodge Junior.
  21. I call it an afternoon snack and a big dinner 2-3 hours later with Coffee and tea (no milk) all morning and early afternoon. Most people do it on a busy day.
  22. 2020 starts in round 23 with Spoonbowl. Front row tickets to the Ben Brown Show. C'mon Benny!
  23. Rowell, Rowell Rowell, Rowell Born is the King of Melbourne FC!
