I really think he needs to spend more mid/HF time. Salem and Watts imo are our best kicks so we need them executing the hardest kicks for us, delivering the ball inside 50.

They managed to get a decent pick for milkshakes from us and managed to make the saints fold regarding carslile. Feeling really good about today's game!! I think the battle of the midfield will be very even and the game will be won and lost in the efficiency of balls inside 50 for both teams. We really need to make the most of our entries and can't afford to just bomb the ball in because we are going to have a height advantage... I'd like to see Salem play a mid/HF role and just lace the ball out to our talls all day! Dees to shock the footy public and win by 45 Go Dee's!!!!!

Played juniors at south Mornington on the Mornington peninsula from the age of 9 until I was 16 during my time there I played in inter league comps (my biggest claim to fame was winning inter league best and fastest over lachie Whitfield in under 15s ) I also played a few years with the stringrays but got cut just before TAC cup was due to start. I then played 2 years with mt Eliza in the under 18s and then seniors before injuring my back and never making it back out on the park

I'd absolutely love for Jenkins to be lining up next to Hogan next year, but I wouldn't be upset if Freo threw a massive contract at both Jenkins and McCarthy. Surely Freo couldn't fit all three in their salary cap and trade for all three.

What a great game it was!! My observations... 1. Garry Ablett is cooked, or playing severely injured. 2. MFC have a large GC supporter base or a lot of fans made the trip up because we deffiantly had more fans there tonight. 3. Prestia will be a fantastic addition for us next year, all class.

With a young family and living on the Gold Coast this will be the only game I'll be getting along too this year so I'm bloody excited (the only exception is if we make the GF and my partner knows I'll be on the first plane to Melbourne leaving her with the baby) I think Hogan and or watts will tear GC a new one. Okay now that I've had a good 15 hours to calm down after the loss I wanted to add my 2 cents.... I'm sorry but I don't buy the this is the worst lost in our history crap, yes it is an embarrassment and yes we will be laughed at, but I'm sorry the 186 point loss to Geelong is far, far worse than this. I just think for the first time in years we had that much more talented players on our side compared to the opposition and "we did a GWS" and expected our talent to win the game rather than stick to team structures and work together. This game could be a blessing in disguise showing our players showing anyone can beat you if you don't show up and do EXACTLY what's required. Let's hope the lesson has been learnt and we can carry on our season in a upward trajectory. Next week will be a big test and I look forward to the dees sticking it up to the Roos!! Go dees

Watching it on TV the wind looked to play a massive part in our poor kicking disposal into our 50. We seem to be dominating in general play, I can see a 7 or 8 goal quarter to the dees coming up. I hope im not wrong

At least Matt jones performed in the VFL. The toump didn't even fire there, cut our losses we drafted a dud with a early pick. Time for us to move on now

I'm stoked with this deal... Yes the toump was pick 4 and effectively got pick 29 for him 3 seasons later but correct me if I was wrong but cale Morton was a pick 4 as well, both clearly had skill to make it in the AFL but neither have the heart or courage to go hard at the contest what's the point on keeping him on the list just because he was a high pick, he doesnt cut it so he's gone. And to get Kennedy and 50 for Howe is about even IMO. Shattered we couldn't deal with Gold Coast but if we can get bugg for pick 50 I'd take Kennedy and bugg for Howe.

Hi guys and girls, I'm a long time reader but first time poster on this forum and just wanted to add my 2 cents on the Melksham deal. For me I think it's a win for the club, Melksham in comparison to Watts statistically speaking are almost identical since they were drafted although Watts is a year older. Jake was once a high draft pick (granted it doesn't mean everything) but it meant Essendon must have rated him highly in his draft year as we did with Watts. And both haven't lived up to their potential yet. So it begs the question would anyone on this forum happily trade out jack watts for anything less than pick 25? Personally I wouldn't and that's why I think Melksham deal was a good get. Granted I will say Watts has a higher ceiling due to his polish but with Melksham we will get someone who will give their all and not afraid to hurt the opposition (fairly) which is what a lot of you have wanted in our team in previous years. No I don't believe he will rack up 25+ touches every week and be top 5 in our B and F but I see a player who will go out and give his all and play the way the game should be played. I believe there is a negative view of Melksham not just because he hasn't quite lived up to his potential but just purely because he is a ugly bastard and he gets under your skin, maybe that's the sort of player we need in our back half to get under the skin of the opposition a bit. Just my 2 cents and no this post was not made to belittle Watts in anyway, I think Watts will be a star for the MFC.
