We’ve achieved nothing. We’re being given a pittance to shift some fences, and to fob us off with vague promises of things to come but no real commitment. Pert is spinning this as some sort of an achievement. Is this really the best we could hope for? An achievement worth celebrating? Underwhelming doesn’t do it justice. It’s pitiful. Furthermore, the lack of media reporting on this ā€œdevelopmentā€ is indicative of the fact there really is nothing to report.

It’s more than that. Pert is pissing on our leg, telling us it’s raining, and people are falling over themselves to celebrate getting a weather report.

Be fooled if you insist, but Pert crowing about getting not even a tenth the funding of other clubs does not fool me. He’s announced an overpriced landscaping package, and you’re fawning over his ineptitude. Give us something you bloody impostor.

Horrendously underwhelming announcement. I hope the majority aren’t fooled into thinking this is something worth celebrating. Pert’s head should be on the chopping block for how pitiful this is.

Waiting and seeing. Hopefully more to this than what has been mentioned in the lead up.

Some things haven’t gone our way over the journey, but some things have inexplicably come out in our favour too. Swings & roundabouts. Not gonna lose sleep over an NGA product we’ve put precious little into and few knew about prior to this year.

Even if Mac Andrew is as good as Cal Twomey’s ratings indicate, I think we’re still well ahead from getting pick 3 as a result of Frawley going to Hawthorn. Theivery.
  8. Love this. Great finals prep.
  9. This story just a makes McNamee sound naive & gullible. Also, it’s terrible management on his behalf - he was employing people to do this and make these decisions, but he was cutting their legs out from under them. Put good people in key positions, make sure they are properly resourced, and the rest will take care of itself. Buying in a star player as the onfield saviour of the club... what an imbecile.
  10. It’d be very unlikely anyway. The only rucks taken top 20 are can’t-miss types like Natanui or Jackson.
  11. Interesting he was available. Sounds like he should have been higher on the list of a few teams.
  12. Gotta be a ready-to-go selection, but I’d favour someone who will chase and harass, contribute to our team defense & ethos, rather than any player with the seductive traits of ā€œclassyā€ or ā€œdamaging.ā€ No point getting to this stage of our ā€œwindowā€ and then loading up on projects. We need break-in-case-of-emergency types to prop up our depth. The time to make our run is now.

By Hawkins nature, he’s a bloke who would apologise for bumping into you, but he does have a nasty streak & I have no doubt the contact was intentional, while the result was not so.
  14. I think I misinterpreted Richo’s poorly worded commentary.
  15. Possibly. Hopefully. But I refuse to believe that a Channel 7 commentator would word it so poorly that it would be totally unclear.
  16. Langdon AND Sparrow suffering headknocks according to M Richardson on Channel 7, potentially being sidelined for the next 12 days also?
  17. Imagine if our captain wasn’t able to play, would be huge.
  18. Yes, I expect the forward pressure stats will decline as our forward line functions more effectively.
  19. With 3 x ACLs on the board, can’t see why we wouldn’t select 3 of the most promising eligible kids, so we can put them under the microscope for for half a season, keep the gems and jettison the duds in favour of draft picks (admittedly not entirely sure of rules around the midsession draft). Can’t see this draft lasting many more years. It’s not coming close to having it’s intended effect.
  20. Haymes is the only paint left that is Australian made and Australian owned. Dulux in the last few years bought heavily into Paint Spot stores and had them remove Haymes paint from their shelves, to put the squeeze on them. No affiliation myself, but knowing this information makes me much more likely to seek out Haymes for my next project.
  21. Surely it’s the only reason you’d recruit him?
  22. Riewoldt pretending to play the role of concerned citizen and mentor, but he’s actually aiming to diminish Kossie’s edge in my opinion. Ducks and drakes.

It would be a big ask, but I’d house a multi-storey facility at the intersection of Punt Road and Olympic Boulevard, making the latter an underpass & constructing a large concourse (similar to AAMI) over Olympic Boulevard and across to Gosch’s that links in with access & egress to Richmond station. Cafe on the concourse level to catch the foot traffic funnelled through there; players gym, pool & training facilities on lower levels along with community offerings (key to funding); office levels above, rooftop bar/function venue to take advantage of training/city views. Massive outlay involved. Can we sign up to a super league for the cash injection?
  25. There were a few flankers in the draft and he was just seen as another one. What may have been missed by recruiters who didn’t delve deeper, was that Riv had glandular fever making him miss the entire preseason. He expected to maybe earn a couple of games later in the season but played from round 1 onwards.
