  1. 38 possessions a game.

Apparently, once he gets those possessions, he is very effective with spotting up another player.

Too many of you are preoccupied with icing, instead of the cake. Crouch IS the cake. So is Freeman, but he looks like a dasher to me, much like Nicholson. And remember back to when Nicholson first started playing games for MFC, and bombed goals from outside 50. He plays a very similsr game to Freeman.

What cant be doubted is the uncanny absolute ball winning ability of Crouch. He has the appetite for dominance, and could always dish it to the outside Toumpas, Blease or Watts.

    Crouch is our man.

No point getting it 38 times when you cant hit a target which is part of Crouch problem. Might aswell have kept Tom Couch or James Magner.

    Crouch will slide.

Freeman is 5 times better then crouch in terms of his inside and out and ability to explode from packs and hit targets. He is also a maniac around the contest like Jack Viney and you will see that when we draft him at 9.

Btw Nicholson was never bombing goals from outside 50 you just made that up which proves your lack of football knowledge kn our players.

  2. The more I think about it, the more Freeman looks like another Nicholson.

LOL by far the worst comparison going around.

Your saying we should get Crouch yet he cant kick, not a big endurance base at all for a midfielder, very slow, and lacks the work ethic at training.

    Please.

  3. the top 11 have already been sorted.

all the clubs have worked out who they are going to get, and have discussed it amongst themselves.

I think we will go for Crouch on pure feriouciousness, ala todd viney.

then we will make a serious play for his brother.

avg of 38 possesion a game, the guy is a freak, and he has a freakier big bro.

crouch is the one, it even written on the walls of mfc.com. why would you do that if it aint a sure thing.

good on ya viney, you learnt fast after the 'wines' incident.

You are gonna be one disappointed man.

  4. Call me gullable, but I did hear a rumour at last years draft that we took Toumpa before Ollie on some form of agreement that after his manditory 2 years at which ever club he ended up at, we were going to throw him a decent sized contract to come to the Dee's (where he preferred to go due to his links with Viney). So then holding back on resigning with Port mid year certainly didn't prove anything, but it did keep that rumour alive.

I know I am probably dreaming, but what a move that would be at the end of next year. Ollie to the Dee's for a 3 year deal.

I literally watch Port games just for Wines. I was guttered when we didn't pick him and was even more guttered when he ran a muck on us Round 1. He's just another heart and soul player like our Jack. Except he had far better mids around him than poor Viney.

Where did you hear this rumour from??

  5. I'm 110% confident that in his first 5 or so games and most there after in his debut year he played forward pocket/half forward with minimal time at all.

I remember him a couple of years later then starting on a wing but that didn't last long. I also remember him doing time tagging Cyril in the midfield one day.

    This year he played back.

All in all I think most people realise that Jetta, with his tackling skills and decent ability in close is more of a midfield player than either end of the ground deep. Doesn't have the deadly speed you need as a small forward or small defender. Then again I don't see him as much of a half back with that lack of size and inability to take bigger opponents not to mention he doesn't get enough of the ball.

His best ever game was as a high half forward in a game at Darwin where he got 20 odd touches and 3 goals I believe.

    Who knows, who cares really.

2009 when I was living in Melbourne I basically went to all the Melbourne games and he was defiantly playing as a forward pocket. 2010 he only played 6 games and again was playing mostly Half forward.

  6. Someone close to me played with Freeman down at Sandy this year. When I asked about Freeman, the response I got was surprising. He didn't talk about explosive pace or goal-kicking ability. He said Freeman is a BULLY. Apparently the kid is the same size now as he was at 16 - and in juniors he used his physicality and grunt to literally bully and scare other kids on the field.

Height might still be the same, but supposedly the aggression is still well and truly there.

    Good.

  7. Why is everyone saying he was the wrong selection, we overlooked Dangerfield and Rioli etc.. Morton at the time was considered a top 3 pick to the point one recruiter said he was even a number 1 choice.

We were all salivating at the prospect of a tall midfielder who could run all day and hit targets with his pin point passes that was much talked about during the championships. He was a Larke Medalist, All Australian under 18s and we all thought we had a genuine superstar our hands. Heck I remember people on here were comparing him to Adam Goodes and Mathew Pavlich.

His first 2 years was quite good but I just thought Dean Bailey didn't use him properly. Ever since he had that Knee injury against Essendon at Visy Park one pre season match, it all went downhill from there.

This also proves how shonky our development was. I don't think Morton is a bad player infact I could see the talent just needed the right coach with good experience.. That's where we made the mistake of getting Mark Neeld instead of an experience coach like Rodney Eade or Ross Lyon. By the time he went to West Coast I seriously believe that was the end of him. His confidence was that shot from Neeld, that psychological mindset was way down

He is still young so I hope this is a wake up call for him and goes back to the WAFL, works his ass off and gets picked up again. The talent is there..

  8. Put a line through this blokes name. Don't care how good it is we are trying to build a culture. We are not in a position to take a punt on players like him. Wait till we build a strong leadership group and Culture then maybe we can look at guys like him.

Lets take a punt on guys that are willing to put in 110% on the track and gameday. I want players that will bleed for this football club and sacrifice a lot just to help improve this club on and off field.

  9. Whatevs.

I rate the guy. I think he's incredibly unlucky not to have had the opportunity to play any afl. Had it been the Bailey days, he would have been given free games all the time.

He's a better footballer than Bail, Nicho, McKenzie and Jetta and I'll stand by that. There's more to being delisted than one thinks and as we have all seen, clubs get plenty of decisions wrong.

He was was drafted at a time where the Neeld and Craig era were trying to implement big change and develop our youngsters at Casey rather than gifting them games. Taggert's situation was completely different to that of Tynan, Davis, Magner etc. He had a debilatating back injury which ruined his first year. Granted he never dominated consistently at VFL level, but I've seen enough in him to know he has some really handy attributes. I'm not saying the club got the decision wrong, I'm simply saying I'm disappointed.

I hope he gets picked up by a club...

What VFL game that he dominated in and put his name right in front of the selectors to be considered a senior game?

I watched him in that last final against Werribee and he was unsighted all day.. Would have lucky to have had 7 disposals for the whole day.
