  1. and like every knee reco - some players make full recoveries and it doesnt hinder them and some dont . Knee reco players do have their knees managed but lots have no problems playing out their careers with little to no interruption . So your initial comment that his knee will play up until the end of his career is opinion not fact.

The fact is he has been told to manage it throughout his career as it is a degenerated knee problem and continue to play up here and there (which already is) is not my opinion but fact.

My opinion is he wil struggle to ever play 22 games in a season. And if he does someone bump this thread up and il bake a big fat sloppy Humble Pie...

  2. No...its your opinion. ( unless of course you are his doctor and breaking parent/doctor confidentiality)

No actually it is a fact.

Been friends with a Collingwood player up my way since high school and I think everyone knows who that is anyway.. When I drilled him about Dawes when we recruited him, One thing he said he had a Knee issue that he had to manage while at Collingwood and continue to do so while he was with us. Like I said he had a knee reco when he was drafted and missed his first full year. Ever since then he has had to manage it properly.

  3. Dawes broke a knuckle in 2011 and missed 6 games. He played 61 out of a possible 76 in his last three years at Collingwood. Are you sure you are not recalling the knuckle injury in 2011?

And would we have a leadership group if it was defined by form and injury?

BTW, Fitzpatrick can't play Dawes' role. He is slight, far from proven, and does not have the ability to assert himself on the field.

He had a knee reco when he was drafted and has played up on and off since. It will continue untill end of his career. Thats a fact.

And thats why if he continues to improve. Fitzy has massive upside. He all proved to us that this year.

Why couldnt he take the next level up and take Dawes position? He has already improved his contested marking, something Dawes struggles to do overhead..

  4. Out of all the Phanton Drafts journos have done, there were none better then Matt Burgan.

I miss his phanton draft days. Was always usually spot on with predictions and use to do it right up till the last pick. Had great insight into every player and club movements.

  5. By that I assume you think that Dawes will not be fit for the first game of the season?

Just had a rotten run last year, not a full pre season, followed by one niggle and another, he still managed half the games

If we go with more than one captain, I expect him to be in the mix

He hasnt had a pre season for the last 4 years.. on going knee problems even when he was at Collingwood.

No way should he be in the mix, needs to get his body right first before being out on the park being a leader.

If Fitzpatrick continues to improve rapidly like he did last year then sorry but Dawes will be find it very tough to break into the side.

  6. I get the impression Roos does not see the Captain's appointment as his highest priority. I think he is more interested in the overall culture and "collective" leadership. For what it is worth, I think he will go with Dawes as Captain (if he thinks they can keep him on the park), Grimes and Jones as joint VCs, and the rest of the leadership Group comprising Clark, Trengove, Frawley, Cross and Vince.

If Dawes becomes captain we will be the laughing stock of the AFL.

Cant even get on the park and yet you want him leading the team from the stands?

I see the leadership qaulitys in Dawes, but seriously he is another Brad Miller that was just a honest battler.

  7. I will not be remotely surprise if PJ continues for couple more years.

Things are going smoothly for him and he has the chance to become one of the great CEO of the game has seen if he can turn this ship around. Its a big call yes I know, but to turn around a club like ours that been in one of the darkest era's the MFC has ever been into a powerhouse would seriously enhance he reputation hugely!

  8. Both Gibbs and Trengove came highly rated, both played against men as kids, both still yet to deliver.

Both Gibbs and Trengove came highly rated, both played against men as kids, both still yet to deliver.

Played his best footy against the tiges in that final this year. I still rate him as a pretty good player.

  9. If I was Jason Taylor and I was about to read out my first ever pick for the Dees, I think I'd have to go with McCarthy and then log straight onto Demonland to watch the meltdown. We've pretty much considered every other option on Demonland over the past few months. Time to consider the best key position player after Boyd.

We already have him, his name is Jesse Hogan except he is better then Boyd.
