  1. Yes this happens in the AFL, all clubs do it.
  2. If the decision is between Young and Jackson whats exactly the rush? A lot can still change in 10 days. The recruiting team along with Goodwin and Matthew Egan will sit down over these next few days and have a few meetings over this and do more extensive back ground checks on both boys. They will also decide whether they do place the bid on Tom Green also? If they do then then that's Jackson and Young gone, and completely throws a spanner in the work in the 1st round, especially if GWS don't match the bid. Trust me, club hasn't made their decision as of yet.
  3. Because we are still 2 weeks away. Don't you think that is a bit extreme and silly to have made your decision when the player you may want at 8 might not even be there. I do know for a fact most clubs who are in the first round usually don't make their final decision until at least 48 hours until draft night.
  4. Unfortunately Viney isn't that either. Probably the two blokes who I have seen become really animated on field are Gawn and Lever. To me these two are the stand out leaders for me personally.
  5. Pick 3 is far too high for Henry.
  6. https://thewest.com.au/sport/afl-draft/promising-wa-ruckman-luke-jackson-likely-to-go-in-top-five-of-2019-afl-draft-as-melbourne-demons-circle-ahead-of-fremantle-dockers-ng-b881383902z
  7. He's a 200cm defender who came back as an overage and was told to work on his intercept marking and offensive attributes by AFL clubs as he is quite quick for his size, but wasn't using it as much as he should have out on the footy field. He'd be a good prospect for us because he can also swing into the ruck if need be but also take the big talls like McKay or Lynch who are around that 202cm marking forward. Good prototype defender. No not at all. Since draft camp, Melbourne are having multiple interview with prospects like Young, Jackson, Ash and Robertson. It's not like Ash is out of the ordinary. Club is just getting all their formation in check now and doing their due diligence with a few draft prospects. Again, Melbourne are YET to make a decision at 3 and 8. Just doing what all clubs do around this time and just chase up more information and background checks. You blokes are reading way too much into this.
  8. I'd rather Gawn take the title outright from Viney. But that's just me personally..
  9. Those MFC facebook groups are one of the worst online trash I have read. Those Mods are are useless. I was a part of few of them but i had to leave due to some vile and personal comments at our own players.
  10. Jeff Whites son Kalani is a name to keep an eye out soon. Is dominating junior footy up in QLD as a bottom ager. Already has some height for a 12 year old, but one to watch!
  11. Don't worry it's my new years resolution to not get so worked up. So in other words, stay off game day threads ?
  12. Good article on Petracca. Explosive Demon on the right 'Trac' to fulfilling lofty ambition
  13. Its the nature of the best. And I say thay because I have said some things in the heat of the moment with certain players. After cooling down I do feel bad because at the end of the day they are humans. Unfortunately it's like the racism issue, you can have all the awareness in the world, but it'll never change. Especially with social media evolving in a remarkable rate. As @jnrmac said, people can still make opinions regardless if you haven't played AFL. When it gets personal like the Liam Ryan one, then that's just going way out of line.
  14. Pretty sure forwards coach is Rooke?
  15. Agree. Easy to name your top 40. This is where Cal Twomey is very good at his job. Cal will predict where most players will go by talking to recruiters weekly and digest information he receives. Mat Burgan' s phantom draft back in the day was one of the best reads at the time before all the bidding and academy stuff was introduced.
  16. Daniel Rioli at 2? Spare me Johnson.. I'd easily have the likes of Dunkley, Gresham and Hopper ahead of Rioli. Harry McKay is also stiff not to be on that list. Would easily have him ahead of Milera and Rioli. 204cm key forward who kicked 30 goals in 20 games this year. Can see him heading towards Tom Lynch territory in a few years time.
  17. Out currently having a coffee with some of the under 16's Murray Bushrangers development coaches to start planning for our up coming pre season. Just got told that Demon recruiting officials are up in the North East Border and Golburn Valley region to interview a couple of bushies boys. Lachlan Ash will most likely one of them and along side Ben Kelly and Cam Wild.
  18. From someone who's worked with the likes of Tim English who is becoming one of up and coming talented rucks in the game. So yes I will gladly take his opinion of these rando's who have watched a 2 minute highlights.
  19. He's changed his ball drop. In 2017 he wasn't dropping it as high and was hitting them quite flush. Something has changed along the way.
  20. This is from Mark Seaby who is his ruck coach. “I had the privilege of working with (Western Bulldog) Tim English as well. “Tim at the same stage was probably a bit more of an all-rounded footballer because he’d been playing for longer, but Luke’s probably got greater physical attributes than Tim at this stage. “He’s probably got the greatest potential that I’ve seen come through, in terms of where he’s at now and what he can achieve in the future. “He’s got similar traits to those ruckmen that act almost like an extra midfielder at stoppages. Peter Sumich who last year said that that Sydney Stack was the most talented WA kid in the draft also had huge wraps on him when I listen to him on the radio few weeks ago. I will trust the judgements of these guys that have worked and seen first hand how they operate rather couple of rando's on the internet.
  21. Well I must be the only one that actually don't mind trading pick 8 for 14 and 17? The beauty of this draft is that whoever is picked at 14 or 17 will be just as talented as 8. At 14 the likes of Robertson, Serong or even Kemp could all slide. The top 25 is quite a talented crop.
  22. Was it? Those are some big words you are using for something that's incorrect. I have no issues with his training reports at all. As he has already said he doesn't go into depth like Kev does, but that's fine, some might like that better which is perfectly fine. I like Kevs because he does go into a bit more depth and will call it as he sees it. What I don't like is that when Kev does say that he will stop reporting training because you have one idiot who has a slight dig at him because he sees things different to him, then he needs to be called out on it. If @kev martin decides to stop reporting training on this board purely on the back of someone having a crack for looking at it in a different lenses then that'll be it for me. Not everyone has to see training in the same context as Saty you know... Again, I am not here to derail a training report. I am happy for all contributions that are done in training reports whether that's saty or kevs. Especially when I am based in Albury and can't get down at all.
