  1. Watched his son Kalani play for Qld in under 15's championships the other day. Goes alright the kid.
  2. Jeff White in full flight was very exciting to watch. Let's not forget for a guy that was only 195cm he would easily jump over guys like Peter Everitt, Shaun Rehn, Brad Ottens, Paul Salmon who were well over 200cm plus. White was also well ahead of his time with his ball use and ability to get around the ground. His kicking was pretty elite for a big bloke especially in an era where ruckman were more known to be the lumbering types. Also, Jeff could take some serious hang time. His leap was insane. The problem with Jeff was his shin problems and then also when they brought in the centre circle rule which limited his biggest strength and that was his run and jump and ability to just thump the ball forward.
  3. Okay I'll try and break it down for you because we all know you've got a history on here in struggling to understand the basics. The comparison to Jeff White/Stefan Martin is purely only for their athletic ability and being able to get around the ground and winning midfield like numbers. In fact you could lump Nic Naitanui as well with the follow up work after a ruck contests. Jackson freak athletic ability is what makes him pretty special and unique. In today's terms he's was probably a touch small for a ruckman but he makes up for his ability to get around the ground so easily and win the footy.
  4. Agree 100% and well said mate.
  5. I'm hit and miss with Sam at times. Caro on the other hand is one of the best journo's going around, and I say that without hesitation.
  6. Bugger.. Was hoping for Wu-Tang brand personally.
  7. Yeah could be worse. I could have compared him to Jack Watts but he was ridiculously soft. Jacko at least cracks in.
  8. The whole 'next David Schwarz' narrative really does get a good flogging on here, but he's no way at that level at all, or ever will be. Ox pre knee was primed in becoming a genuine superstar of the competition. At one stage he was on par with Wayne Carey as the best player of the competition. I rate Carey alongside Leigh Matthews and Gary Ablett Snr as one of the best ever players we've seen come through. Luke Jackson will be a very good ruckman in years to come. Imo I think he is a tad short for a ruckman in being able to reach the levels of a Dean Cox or Max Gawn of being that star factor in his rightful position. Close comparisons imo would be a Jeff White or Stefan Martin who were able to win the footy 20-25 possessions a game and play as that extra midfielder due to their high athleticism.
  9. Well that flopped.. lol
  10. Was having this discussion with another Melbourne fan over the weekend over a few beers. We both agreed that we felt Viney was much better prepared and a bit more mature enough now in easily slotting back into the role. I'd love to see him slip back into that co-captain role alongside Gawn going into next year. Thoughts?
  11. Harmes can earn his spot through the VFL. His form at AFL level has been ordinary anyway. Let's not overrate his performances please because Brayshaw doing the job at AFL level keeps him out. Thr footy club rates Sparrow enormously highly and they'll find ways to keep him in the midfield. Let's not forget Harmes was a turnover merchant against the doggies. Right now ANB provides the insane defensive pressure and Jake Melksham who is proving me wrong, is giving our forward half a different element and dynamic.
  12. I genuinely thought he would have been cooked this year. Had the 'old man' with the repeated calf issues and I thought he'd be lucky to play 5 games. On the back of this year's form he absolutely deserves another contract. It's blokes like Hibbo that are valuable for the club fabric and morale off field more then on field.
  13. According to Goodys presser it seems like they're going to leave him in the midfield for the rest of the year.
  14. Yeah true.. But lets be honest.. we did enjoy watching Collingwood choke a grand final by under a kick 😆
  15. The bronx cheers last night certainly explained that..
  16. That says more about that pies fan if that's the case. Like dude it's just a game.. We lost to Essendon in 2000. They were just as insufferable as what Geelong are.
  17. Yes he was undertaking his concussion test.
  18. No they didn't.
  19. Or maybe he just didn't mention him at all? I don't think I've ever heard of a press conference having to do a take 2...
  20. What? Mate what press conference are you listening to? The only forward who got a mention was Bayley Fritsch and that was due to the questioned being asked if he was All Australian form. Again, Goody never once mentions Sam's name at all and that's after I've listened to it twice. What minute mark was it mentioned?
  21. Just listened to the presser and Goody made no mention at all about Weideman?
  22. Of course you'd say this.
  23. These days? This has been going on well past this generation. Let's not make out that it's today's issue. For every Luke Jackson there's a Clayton Oliver, Petracca and Brayshaw who've pledge their loyalty to this club. Not counting other players from other clubs who've done the same. Jeff White, Ron Barrasi, Tony Lockett, Kelvin Templeton, Jeff Farmer, Gerard Healy.. I can keep going?
