- 2023 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Update on our potential picks. A ball magnet who’s played at a consistently high level across multiple grades during his draft campaign, Sanders was interviewed by multiple clubs at last week’s combine, with the Bulldogs and Melbourne showing particular interest in him. The Demons are keen to move up the order, but if they hold their spot and Melbourne Grammar graduate Sanders is still on the table, he’d be hard to pass up, considering there’s a rival-club theory the Dees are looking for a ball-winner this off-season. The Dees might also look at drafting Curtin with their first pick should he still be available, while mid-sized Northern Knights forward Nate Caddy – the nephew of premiership Tiger Josh Caddy – could come into the mix too. Although sources believe the Demons would more likely look at Caddy with their second first-rounder. Melbourne, at this stage, looms as the first possible bidder for Gold Coast academy ruck Ethan Read – a freakish 200cm prospect who ran a ridiculous 2km time of 5:56. If the Dees don’t bid on him, don’t expect him to slide past Geelong.- Welcome to Demonland: Pick 11
Yes. I've given both a decent write up on here. I'll quickly have a search through and find it.- TMac & Brown
But his knee isn't fine 'red'. Since 2019 Brown hasn't been able to complete a full season due to knee issues. That's damming in itself. His body is completely unreliable and when our forward line was at our most vulnerable during the finals he wasn't available because he'd just come out of rehab from his knee issues. That's the time we needed a fully fit Ben Brown. I like the guy, but right now, I'd much rather a fit mature age key forward on our list then Brown/McDonald.- TMac & Brown
Yeah.. don't think he's retiring unfortunately.- Harrison Petty
Goody does it again 👏- Harrison Petty
It's no different to country footballers requesting trade back home to 'Melbourne' when realistically home is still a 3-4hr drive in the country from Melbourne city.- Welcome to Demonland: Tom Fullarton

He's obviously having serious consideration of going home. There's enough smoke there. Do we cash in now with one of Adelaide's early picks or do we wait until free agency. There is also the consideration with his foot injury. From what I heard it was a pretty significant injury to the point where there is some ongoing concerns whether it'll hold up to the rigours of AFL level in years to come. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually Petty does go back home to SA whether that's this period or free agency.- Welcome to Demonland: Jack Billings

I said the last few years meaning since 2020 The kozzies and the Olivers are great also. For all of that you then have your Weideman ahead of Curnow/McKay selection which is turning out to being one of the bigger blunders, the Bailey Laurie selection and then flop Grundy trade which doesn't exactly paint our list management in the brightest picture. Our inability to address outside class and speed for a number of years has been concerning considering we're about to head into another year with an aging and slow Lachie Hunter and Ed Langdon who's also getting on and hasn't played a good game since 2021. I don't even mention Blake Howes because he played as a floating defender at Casey all year this year. Bizarre list management decisions like giving Tom McDonald an extended contract when it was clear at the time that he was on a steep decline. We've got him clogging up our list next year on top of Ben Brown when we all know that they're both absolutely cooked to the bone. I'll continue to watch with interest. - Trade Rumours 2023
