Quoting Max Gawnā¦last year ā¦āwe donāt even look at last yearā. Totally differentā¦(I agree) Going from hunting to āhuntedā is a big difference to start with!

Is our offense a problem?
Actually you donāt think itās more to do with the building of form into the finals footy that Goodwin coaches us to play? The coaches & the players have had to contend with 17 other coaches who would have studied us ad nauseam in the off season so whilst sticking to the ānuts and boltsā of our game plan they would have tweaked and adjusted according to who we play & what personnel were available. No use showing the rest of the comp our finished product before finals. Clever coach Goodwin

POSTGAME: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
To all the naysayers out there ā¦this is our game. To paraphrase āBinmanā ⦠listen to Goody in his pressers ā¦he is or has built a team for finals footy . You donāt play that footy during the year ā¦especially this year as we were also the hunted . Doesnāt mean we will win āback to backā but we will leave everything out there. So proud of that effort tonight & hope the disrespectful media contingent has a good look at themselves . I expect our pessimistic supporterās will no doubt have heaps of criticismās but a superb performance Dees šā¤ļø

Clarko to Norf
I found that very interesting as well. Arguably we have been a basket case & then won a premiershipā¦you would think weāre the first club heād speak to. Again I think it harks back to an amazing lack of respect by the media in general to the reigning premiers.

Footy Classified
I stopped watching the footy shows because they have become irrelevant. Since our 10 game streak has stopped ā¦we have had very little respect considering we havenāt been out of top 4 all year and are the reigning premiers. Now even when we win.. I have zero interest in watching these show ā¦just by reading DL you can pick up what is said if interested:ā Itās all about egoās ā- & click bait ā media.!

TEAMS: Rd 23 vs Brisbane
And maybe because heās plays mostly in the AFL ⦠is a seasoned senior player & has missed a couple of games due to concussion & VFL byes so has had a mini break with the body. Would have zero worries on his fitness . As an AFL team ⦠we have def played of 5 day breaks & if he wants to play finals ā¦no brainer on effort!

POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Itās what you think we could have done betterā¦.I havenāt read/heard from any coach/player that it was preferred option ? My point was unnecessary nit picking.

Veil of Negativity
What frustrates me enormously is the many supporters who find issues & faults in our game when we win. There was a great podcast from Johnathan Brown who talked about the issues facing teams when they are trying to go back to back. It certainly put a lot of things into perspective for me. Also game (AFL) is made up of brilliant playā¦many mistakes (especially under pressure) thatās what provides excitement . As many bemoan what our players did wrong ā¦what would Carlton be saying about the kick to Saad which forced him to play onā¦the spilled mark by Newnes⦠the fact that Melky marked over 4 key defenders ā¦the three Carlton defenders of whom one should have marked the ball on the wingā¦I could go on! My point being both teams gave it all ā¦finals type pressure & we won. Iād be happy to win a GF that way & Iām sure all our supporters would. Fact is our brilliant football last year was in the finals & the lead up games were against far lower oppositionā¦we have been playing other teams GFās for most of the year.

Canāt understand why you bring that upā¦we won.

POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
We were ahead for over 60% of the game so why do you say that? Last week we played far better football & lost but should have won. This week we hung in there ā¦Carlton played out of their skins & either team could have won. We were not lucky ..we deserved the win

POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Two players who won the game Hunt & Melky ā¦no coincidence that they are desperate to play in a GF. Hopefully it now spurs the rest of the team to play the footy we train to play ā¦finals footy

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Goody said it perfectly in the presser ā¦every supporter..coach & player should be filthy with that loss . Iām always super positive but to see our team so dominant & not capitalise on the scoreboard was galling. Of course theyāre always going to get the ārub of the greenā but really with our dominance..shouldnāt have mattered. As the reporter in the presser saidā¦if you looked at the stat sheet ..should have been a 4 to 5 goal win to us. If we showed half the intent they did it would have been a 10 goal win. So angry. It will also be a very long time till I go to another game against the Pies. It is so unpleasant from the very start. If we donāt pick up our attitudeā¦it doesnāt look promising!

CHANGES: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Do you also forget that May wasnāt playing ā¦Petty of and onā¦lost Turner early to concussion & Max had done his ankle and probably should have been off. QB always seems to be in a loading phase as well. Itās very hard to replace players in real game time. Think we have the players this time to give us the win .

NON-MFC: Round 19, 2022
They have also won every game after ours by roughly a goal or less ..the teams that they best are in bottom 4 or close to it & I think all season apart from Adelaide & GC Suns away their wins have all been at the G. They also (like our run last year ) have had a very good injury run. We will see where they are after the last 4 games of the season. Given their finish last year they were afforded an easier draw ā¦drawing twice ..many of the lower placed sides. I am still out on how good they are . I also realise we will see how good we are after the next 4 games. Pretty sure the pies last 4 games are all at the G whilst we travel to OS the last of a 6 game hiatus from the G & then finish away . A tough draw with no favours for the reigning premiers. Still if weāre good enough weāll do ok

CASEY: Rd 18 vs Footscray
I would come regularly to Demonland to read your posts. Had a good laugh & enjoyed your very well articulated responses to the negative hysteria we inevitably get whee we n a game is close or we lose . Posters should note thatās is possible to get your point across without demeaning & vitriolic replies. Well done !!

SO ITS COME TO THIS
My take on the season & how it is unfolding 1. Injuriesā¦the type of player we have lost & also injuries in games have hurt us badly this season ā¦didnāt have that issue last season . That has meant players in different positions or playing in different structures which brings a lot of different pressures. Players missing big chunks of the season will take quite a few weeks to pick up their game form & there are no easy games to do it in. You canāt change your whole game plan because we lost TMac so itās figuring out in season the best options. Also VFL this season is def below par & so to me it makes sense to play Gawn & Jacko into form in the AFL. I watch the VFL closely and am a tad reluctant to get too carried away with players form in that comp 2. Every team has had 6 months to study us & work out a plan to beat us. We are the Premiers & the Hunted & nearly every team we have played this season has played out of their skins. So the players have to learn a different type of mental resilience & pressure along with getting themselves up every week. I donāt think itās a surprise that our younger players are often in our bottom 6 or so. 3. Of course there is loading etc which is just another factor and would contribute in some way to our current form. I absolutely believe we are a ā work in progressā and donāt doubt the belief and talent of our coaches and fitness staff ā¦they gave us probably the hardest premiership to win & deserve our support. Itās a really tough year and will things turn ā¦I hope so. Have no doubt that when MFC is on we are still the team to beat . Our form in the last 4 games of the season will give us the answers.

POSTGAME: Rd 17 vs Geelong
That wasnāt the point ⦠if you are able to go & choose to go.. I still applaud that ⦠Iām guessing you go to support your team & if it boosts Geelongās coffers ā¦so be it .. not all games are our home games & Iām very happy that our supporters go to games at oppo venues to support our team !
