Interesting that Jamar was an almost unanimous choice as our best yet failed to be mentioned in the best lists of the 2 Sunday papers .
-
Good statistics , but poor summation . FITNESS is certainly not the problem ,as exemplified by the astonishing statistic that we have outscored the opposition in 6 out of 10 final quarters this year , and had we kicked accurately yesterday it would have been 7 out of 10 .
-
eg ? - in 3 words please .
-
6 - Jamar 5 - Moloney 4 - Warnock 3 - Rivers 2- Frawley 1- McLean
-
Bate - 5 minute impact Bell - failed to impress Bennell - creative but mistakeridden Bruce - numerous costly turnovers Davey - had no impact Frawley - attitude and endeavour Green - solid but unspectacular Grimes - calm and confident Jamar - an outstanding return Johnson - not a rover Jones - had little influence Maric - 2 good quarters Martin - had no idea McDonald - couldn't hurt opposition McLean - many ineffective possessions Miller - needs a rest Moloney - terrific in close Morton - poor decision making Rivers - reliable as usual Sylvia - failed to repeat Warnock - excellent under pressure Whelan - going through paces
-
-
Bate - not enough impact Bennell - taught a lesson Bruce - a steady game Davey - seemed greatly underused Frawley - steadied after horrors Green - reliable and steady Grimes - seemed completely lost Johnson - continues to impress Jones - needs a rest Maric - excellent first half Martin - must be settled McDonald - doesn't hurt opponents McLean - lacks effective disposal Miller - unfortunately no alternative Moloney - unusually quiet game Morton - disposal was amateurish Petterd - can't justify retention Rivers - quiet but effective Robertson - selfish and undisciplined Sylvia - career best performance Warnock - stuck at task Whelan - lost in mire
-
Flower - graceful , stylish , unmannable , skinny Schwarz - guile , strength , heart , passion Jakovic - genius , accurate , thrilling , tough Parke - probably the best mark ever at the club ( in my lifetime ) Tingay - stylish , determined , exquisitely skilful
-
Dew dropped for disciplinary reasons - probably lost weight against coach's orders .
-
Momentum may ultimately create a snowballing success of victories , which MAY still get us into the lower echelons of the 8 this year , such is the evenness of the competition , however the alternative of many honourable losses will obviously lead to frustration but the sought after draft picks . I don't think the answer is as obvious as first thought , bearing in mind that if we somehow gain the momentum that leads us to the finals , we will obviously have been good enough to be deservedly there , and thereby not without a chance . What do you desire ?

I had to go to the toilet ! . What's it any of your business why I leave the game early ?
-
-
I agree . I am not denigrating the boy - he has a great future , but he WAS torched today . [censored] happens .
-
Murphy had 7 kicks on him in the first quarter and Akermanis kicked most of his goals on him too ! It WAS a game to forget .
-
6 - Davey 5 - Moloney 4 - Morton 3 - Johnson 2 - Whelan 1 - Warnock
-
Bartram - excellent and horrible Bate - great in bursts Bruce - quieter than normal Cheney - cool and composed Davey - just a genius Dunn - horrible when pressured Grimes - game to forget Johnson - good around ground Jones - not as prolific Maric - often seemed lost Martin - much to learn McDonald - good in close McLean - prolific but wasteful Miller - game to forget Moloney - tough and effective Morton - prolific and composed Petterd - not a target Robertson - had little impact Sylvia - excellent in bursts Warnock - liked his game Whelan - a great return Valenti - little to excite
-
You're probably right , but it's ironic just the same .
-
I didn't know this before but I heard on the radio earlier today that the Dickmond player , Rance ,who crashed head first into the Loins' Selwood on the weekend ,with disastrous consequences , was the same player to help cause Brad Green's broken jaw earlier this year . Karma ?
-
Bate was infinitely better on Sunday than he's been in almost any other game this year , thus my ' optimism ' that he may have turned the corner . IMO Bruce was outstanding on Sunday , and yes he made a few errors , NOT ' turning the ball over constantly ' . The outstanding aspect of Grimes' game on Sunday was that he turned the ball over at crucial times . I haven't denigrated his overall performance on the day but merely referred to the standout aspect of his game in my 3 word analysis
-
6 - Davey ( by a mile ) 5 - Jones 4 - Moloney 3 - Bruce 2 - Morton 1 - Miller
-
Bartram - year's best game Bate - cause for optimism Bennell - impressive and creative Bruce - a true leader Davey - superlatives are superfluous Dunn - some encouraging touches Frawley - absence was felt Grimes - 2 costly turnovers Johnson - a gutsy performance Jones - career best game Maric - gradually made inroads Martin - confidence still lacking McDonald - just a game McLean - has almost returned Miller - straightened the attack Moloney - creative and important Morton - impressive in defence Petterd - gave defensive drive Rivers - courageous and unlucky Robertson - needed more involvement Sylvia - some thrilling moments Warnock - ruthless and reliable
-
If this is official I cringe to think that we may lose a big man during the game - the bench is full of midgets .
-
Though he must have been chuffed to be given the award for BOG on the weekend ( perhaps undeservedly IMO , because of Valenti's great game ) I couldn't help but feel sympathy for Newton when being interviewed after the game , and being asked what it was like to have a prodigy playing along side of him ( Watts ) . With teeth obviously clenched , he was very magnanimous in his comments , but you could sense that he was secretly harbouring the desire for his most obvious long term rival for the FF position to die .
-
Yes I noticed it too and wondered whether any forethought was put into team planning at any stage . This was THE biggest oversight ever imaginable , and who was to blame ?
-
I have no qualms with anyone disagreeing with my points , however I'd appreciate those who disagree with me making the effort to present their case in 3 words , thus making it a fair comparison . If I thought anyone could be bothered reading a thesis each week I could also do my analysis in that format and I could thereby quite easily cover every single aspect of a player's performance .
