  1. Delivery out if the backline is more important than delivery inside 50. Ideally everyone at every position is elite, but not the case. Where is the game style going from here? Personally I think the forward line has tactically the most room to grow for invovation. Those that follow soccer would know that set pieces have became all the rage again. Also the top managers philosophy is structure in the back and midfield, however players must be able to interchange position on the fly. The team has a general structure but must morph as the play goes on and players must be aware of what position they need to fill etc. The forward area is where predictable structure is thrown out the window and players are given creative licence to make something happen. Simply, you don't want to be predictable as that is exactly what the opposition defence is ready for. I always thought with Goody it was the same thing over and over going inside 50 and the forward setup. I feel the game will change inside 50 a lot in the coming years. Hopefully King will the one to reivent it.
  2. Makes too much sense I guess. What about the MCG deep underground? Could call it Hell too.
  3. I'm not sure we would want to trade out of this draft. The club have already commented on this being the last one before Tassie gets a heap of pics. I do like idea of getting Sumner-Pickett as Kozzie would perfect for him to learn from and we need a small forward. Is he 180cm still. One site has him at 192cm. Other than that just back Taylor in. If he thinks we need to be higher for whoever he's keen on, so be it. Someone mentioned swapping 8 and 9 with Carlton and us agreeing not to bid on their FS to grab another pick off them. How much do Carlton gain by us not bidding at 7, 8 or 9?
  4. Love his attitude already. Will be a great leader to the young forwards and improve our forward setup instantly.
  5. Can we wait for him to nominate us before working out what a good deal is? I can't go through another Windhager and Flanders...
  6. I reckon he can take a grab from my analysis.
  7. Surely we can get one of our many key backs to play as a forward and fit him in back.
  8. What pick would we trade Lindsay for this draft is another way to look at it. Plus if we didn't swap, we'd have maybe 3 picks inside the top 10 of a week draft if we can't get a player back in our trades. Lamb has said we aren't looking to trade into the first round this year, though we may have no choice unless we ask for future picks.
  9. The only player who is leaving who had an ok year was Trac. So we aren't really losing much and the young guys get a year older and a less toxic environment with a fresh coach. I think we could potentially do alright next year.
  10. Well King might want the heads up he's gotta convince him to take less to come. So we should of blown Saints out of the park with our offer? Cos we didn't and there has to be a reason we didn't.
  11. We haven't moved on Trac, Oliver or May yet. What if none of them move? Tell me why we didn't beat Flanders Saints offer? There was a reason our offer wasn't higher and no one knows except Lamb and co. Yeah it sucks I know, I really wanted him, but now it's over I'm just trying to think of it through a list management lens. I wonder why we didn't have the best offer when you'd think we could afford it.
  12. I wanted Flanders but would be interested how much we did offer him. If it was less or equal than Saints then I guess either King didn't think he was worth that and/or Tim Lamb finally being conservative on the contracts.
  13. I think we may of back-ended contacts as much as possible to fit everyone in as we were all in on a premiership. I'm sure, especially with those departing, we have enough for a couple of good players. The Saints must of contracted wisely to allow this flurry. I expect it may take a few years for us to get on par salary (Paying players less than the average of their contact per year), except for Kozzie who is rumoured to be massively back-ended.
  14. I think the club have been fantastic since the Goody decision. Finally had the balls for change and to get rid of ego's, the ones that have wanted out and the toxicity and the $ that could be used on better output vs $. Still there are many who are kicking the club whenever they can. What differently would you like to have been done? We are organising a home base, we are finally selling the bad eggs. We have some good young players. Be pessimistic if you like but I applaud what the club is doing this off-season.
  15. Just did a quick Google and looks like Trac, Oliver and Pickett are back loaded 😬
  16. Pretty sure we are fine for cap space if had enough for Houston last year and with the outgoing players this year. Not sure if we have front/back loaded any significant wages though?
  17. I hate people saying we can't compete for a premiership next year etc.. I'll never say never. New coach, less ego and more want to be at the joint. We didn't get belted every game last year. We are not as far off as a lot of you think. My view is a poor morale and desperation to win along with most players being list on what their role is was our downfall. If King can maximize our will to win, our morale and players identity in their role then there is no reason why we can't have a great season. Even if we don't that's what we should aim for. There is never a limit and anything less is a pisz poor culture.
  18. Personally I think it's great we are getting rid of toxic players or ones that don't really want to be here. It needed to be done and we will be better off without them. As for what we get for Trac. Why the arguing? The club will do it's best and likely already agreed on a ball park offer with Crows if it's got to the stage of Trac flying over. Doubt we get a player for him as Crows are in premiership mode, hence the trading for Trac. Maybe instead of 14 we could try something different and ask for 26 and 27 firsts.
  19. B: Lever, Petty, Bowey HB: Salem, Turner, Rivers C: Windsor, Flanders, Langford HF: Pickett, van Rooyen, Lindsay F: Fritsch, Miochek, Kentfield FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, Viney IC: Chandler, Tholsrup, McDonald, Culley, Melksham
  20. Always liked Finnley MacRaye.
  21. This sums up what I think best. King and Flanders know each other very well and I'm pretty confident if King really wants him we get him. If I was Flanders there would be a few question marks if I'm certain to play where I want and I'm suited under Lyon and can see the Dees as easier to picture and trust where I'd play under King. Feeling pretty confident on him coming.
  22. I'd like him but Flanders is definitely number 1 of the linked players for me.
