Melbourne Player Rankings Mid Year
43# Andy Moniz-Wakefield - Progressing nicely in the VFL might need to get a bit more of the football. 42# Judd McVee - Struggling to get a lot of the ball. Needs time. 41# Fraser Rosman - Improving slowly since he's gone down back. 40# Blake Howes - Looked promising early a foot injury has hampered his progress. 39# Deakyn Smith - Progressing steadily down back. 38# Daniel Turner - Injured early has come back and looked impressive in the VFL. 37# Taj Woewodin - Has shown good signs on the wing. 36# Oskar Baker - Good form in the VFL but doesn't look like he has the abiltiy to turn that into good AFL form. 35# Majak Daw - Been solid in the ruck for Casey. You know what you get with Majak. 34# Jacob van Rooyen - Has shown promising signs in the VFL with a 6 goal haul against North. 33# Bailey Laurie - Shown promising signs in the VFL and been close to selection 32# Kade Chandler - Hasn't had a real run at it this year the suspension cost him dearly. 31# Jake Melksham - Cooked at AFL level but trying had at VFL level. 30# Michael Hibberd - Been injured for most of the year. Starting to find some form at VFL level. 29# Adam Tomlinson - Good form in the VFL but it's not transforming to good AFL form. 28# Mitch Brown - Excellent form at VFL level. Worth persisting with at AFL level 27# Sam Weideman - Good VFL form not turning into good AFL form like Tomlinson. 26# Joel.Smith - Was really starting to find his feet at AFL level until he done his ankle. Injury prone. 25# Luke Dunstan - Been a disappointing recruit. Accumulator but doesn't hurt the opposition. 24# Jayden Hunt - Been really poor the last month. Needs to find some form. Doing the small forward lockdown role. 23# Trent Rivers - Disappointing year not up to the lofty heights from his premiership year. 22# Ben Brown - Disappointing year. Last month has been putrid, needs to find some form. 21# Toby Bedford - The super sub. Showed promisng form has pace to burn and could be dangerous in tandem with Spargo and Pickett. 20# Tom Sparrow - Struggled of late needs to find consistantcy. 19# James Harmes - Been ok but needs to find a bit more of the ball. 18# Christian Salem - Been injured most of the year. The rock of the back line. 2 Clayton Oliver - Never puts in a bad game. 1 Max Gawn - The best player in the league.

CHANGES: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
I can't believe how many people want Tomlinson in the side he is a spud. Turner is a better option.

CHANGES: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
IN: Weideman, May, Hibberd Out: Hunt, Tomlinson, B.Brown Hunt and Tomlinson aren't AFL standard players having them out will make us a 5 goal better team. Brown is playing like as VFL player sub standard performances 3 weeks. Massive chance for Weid he's had a million chances hopefully he can grab this one.

POSTGAME: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Firstly I want to talk about the elephant in the room the umpires they were putrid. If that's the best they can come up with the umpires are in a crisis. Secondly Sydney didn't have a bad player on the ground while we had 4. Lever was dreadful worst game he's played at the club but at least he has some credits in the bank. Hunt has lost me like a dear in the headlights he was tonight. Sick of his mistakes shouldn't play a game for Melbourne again. Heard Hibberd played well in the 2's a ready made replacement. Tomlinson is a VFL player nothing more. Time to look at Turner as a key back replacement instead of Tomlinson. Ben.Brown's last month has been putrid. Must be dropped even if that's to give Weid his 100th chance. Liked Mitch.Brown's game should be persisted with. Hopefully McDonald's injury isn't that bad. On the positive side Max Gawn showed a master class tonight. Is there nothing he can't do?
-
How Good Is Max Gawn?
He's the best player I've seen, definitely the best ruckman of all time. He's played plenty of good games but I think none better than tonight. He done everything to get us over the line tonight. Long live the great Max Gawn.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs Sydney

CASEY: Rd 11 vs Sydney
VFL | Casey names magnificent seven (melbournefc.com.au) Don't know if there is another thread on this? if it is merge it. Strong side 16 Melbourne listed players playing. Bedford obviously the medi sub.

Does Salem play?
Interested in demonlanders thoughts on a player coming back from a long lay off.

Hypothetical Victorian Team 2022
I thought Weitering would be in the side. Have they got an All Stars team to compare?

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
He played on Hogan and killed him. He can play down back just like McDonald. Why can't you get it through your thick skull?
-
CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
It like saying McDonald can't play back because he's a forward. Brown has proven he can play back and when has Weideman actually been in form he's always out of form.
-
CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
If they had him as a sub last week he would have played defence. He gives us flexibility unlike a Dunstan who can only play midfield. He has played defence at VFL level. A better option than Weid. He can play small similar to Fritsch.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Personally I'd love to see Dogga take over CHF swapping with Maxy in the forward line and in the ruck. BB's form over the past 2 weeks is too bad to ignore I think he should be dropped and we go smaller with Bedford. If they think Salem is raring to go then I'd drop Hunt and put Hunt as the sub. Mitch is in form he can play key or small, back or forward. I think he could be the perfect sub.

CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Hipwood should not have come back in the ones. 11 weeks is a long time out. A game in the 2's to get the rust out won't do him any harm.

CASEY: Rd 10 vs Frankston
van Rooyen out that's a huge blow. Big game for Mitch.
-
CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Langdon, Harmes, McDonald come in. Tomlinson replaces May. Weideman and Melksham should never play a game again, that leaves one more out sorry Bedford it's back to the sub again. van Rooyen or Mitch.Brown should seriously be considered in replacing Ben.Brown.
-
POSTGAME: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
I thought Brayshaw played well. Bedford and Oliver had a good first half and Gawn tried hard but it was slim pickings after that. Petracca played like he was sick. Brown should be dropped ( c'mon Roo boy have a blinder tomorrow) Weideman should never play a game again. Love Milkshake but he's cooked congrats on your 200 but never play a game for us again.

VOTES: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
6 Brayshaw 5 Oliver 4 Viney 3 Jordon 2 Gawn 1 Pickett

Farewell Luke Jackson
He's always with us he's Picket when we win and Olisik when we lose. Jackson will only be a run of the mill ruckman made to look good by Gawn make him a CHF and leave him there.
-
CHANGES: Rd 12 vs Sydney
Not Carey but van Rooyen. Brown's had it and Weideman never had it. His combination with McDonald will go a long way to us winning the flag again. Lets face it we have a great backline a great midfield but an average forward line. van Rooyen is our only hope in rectifying it.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
I agree with you. West Coast number 1 pick sounds nice.

TEAMS: Rd 11 vs Fremantle
I think Baker's time is up he is a long way from being selected.
