  1. I've been impressed with OMac's kicking, rarely misses a target. I wish he'd taught Tom when they were younger.
  2. I watched the game and I disagree with you. I expect him to feature in the coaches' votes, again.
  3. Last year he didn't win much of the footy but was damaging when he did get it. This year, it's the other way round. Expect it to click in 2017!
  4. Yes but my point is that people get too caught up with one game and its relevance. It was absolutely horrendous yes but what of the previous 18 games? Do they get forgotten instantly or something?
  5. Predictably melodramatic responses on here. Firstly, we got the 4 points. Secondly, our improvement is not measured on two hours of footy (which was good enough to win), it's based on 22 weeks. Given that's now our 8th win and our percentage is STILL over 100, I'd say the improvement is obvious. It was probably the worst two hours of footy of the year though. Positives apart from Juggernaut Watts were Hunt, Frost doing a good impression of Hunt and OMac standing up. I honestly don't care if Tom McDonald goes. We'll miss him as much as Howe and be laughing at his turnovers in red and white if he does.
  6. Because we have one, yes one (and debatable at that) player missing from our best 22 at present. That means some perfectly capable AFL players will miss out. There's a difference between not being in side's best 22 and not being up to AFL level. Kennedy has played 15 games this year and done ok.
  7. Kennedy was averaging 17 touches and just under a goal a game, and is a renowned competitor. Just because he's playing VFL at the minute doesn't mean he's not good enough for AFL.
  8. Oliver and Kennedy should be back next week. When you think that an unconditioned Oliver was averaging 15 touches at this level last year and is now getting 35+, the sky really is the limit for him. He tackles to hurt too. Kennedy is far too good for VFL and (contrary to others' opinions) I think he has proven himself to be a useful AFL player. Weideman is skinny, raw and a touch on the slow side, but was impressive. I wish Hogan adopted his set shot approach, so fluent!
  9. There's a live stream on the VFL website. Quality not too bad. Wasteful first quarter. Weideman has been good. The usual suspects busy but not overly effective. Salem's playing and has had a few (mainly ineffective) touches.
  10. vandenBerg has a Willy Wonka golden ticket. Done nothing this year but waltzes back into the side.
  11. Forget Vickery, we should wait and throw the kitchen sink at Peter Wright 12 months from now. Now there's a forward/ruck who can play. A Victorian boy too.
  12. Watched the whole telecast. For next week I reckon BenKen (after late dash back from Perth) and Oliver didn't do their chances any harm. Michie, Grimes and Trengove were very solid but I'm not sure the senior coaches rate them enough to be a chance. Watch out for Joel Smith in 2017, could be another Jayden Hunt if we're lucky. Something about him.
  13. He has tickets on himself, thinks he's a better kick than what he is, thinks he can sell candy, thinks he's worth Dangerfield money. Get over yourself Tom. I'd rather he stayed but logistically two Frost types on 350k is better than one Tom McDonald on 700. B-grade defenders aren't that hard to find.
  14. It's not worth a debate. Oliver = good, Parish = good. Anyone that complains about Parish being slightly ahead after 15 games will complain about anything.
  15. We didn't just get Kennedy from it though. We also got a pick which helped us move up the draft and secure Oliver.
  16. Thought the cartoon accompanying the Watts article in the Herald Sun was in pretty poor taste. I can't find a photo of it online but it has Watts captioned as saying "I never wanted to leave Melbourne" to which the journo replies "A year ago it wouldn't have been your decision." Neither funny, relevant or appropriate to the good news story.
  17. Dawes plays like his life depends on it every week. His problems lie with his concrete hands and general lack of ability. I don't think him playing for his future will have any bearing on his performance.
  18. Kent's kicking is underrated. I wouldn't have him kicking for goal for my life, but his ability to pass the ball 55m+ metres is a skill very few AFL players have.
  19. Great news. Jay Clark once again delivers with a Dees scoop. It's clear he has a close contact at the club and thus I'm buoyed by the fact he thinks Hogan's a 98% chance to stay (from earlier in the year).
  20. Riewoldt has been spoken about as a possible AA selection. Disrespectful to say he's a shadow of his former self. He'd carve us up in a wheelchair anyway.
  21. West Coast (2015) and Fremantle (2014) both had big wins the week after returning from Darwin. Brisbane (2013) had a narrow loss at Football Park the following round. If we're a fair dinkum footy side then we can't use Darwin conditions as an excuse for losing.
  22. They see a skinny kid with a headband and assume he's soft. They couldn't be more wrong.
  23. No real point guessing the specific ins and outs but I'd expect 4-5 changes. The Casey players will be fresh as a daisy after the bye and our younger pups will be cooked after the Darwin conditions.
  24. Agreed but don't forget Jetta. I can't think of a better small defender running around at the minute.
