  1. Overuse of the footy in wet conditions seems to be a theme for us over the last month or two - definitely a coaching error that should be fixed at quarter time, not let to run on for quarters / games in a row - particularly with this mob who for some stupid reason STILL don't have satisfactory skills at AFL level. I can only hope that Roos is actually forcing a few lessons upon the playing group and taking 'a few for the team' because we seem to be making absolutely simple and fundamental football errors across the board and yet they're not being fixed week to week. If this is not the case then questions do in fact need to be asked. Times like this when you give up your Sunday avo, go to the football (at 3:20?), sit in the pouring rain, pay over $7 for watered down beer, you really begin to ask yourself how you get so sucked in, so fired up - I virtually embarrass myself with how much I yell out at the footy. And for what? The same tripe year in year out, really finding it hard to see improvement and development. Won't stop me going because I love the club too much - but please MFC, please start showing some consistency and a decent upwards trend.
  2. Melbourne Football Club 29 mins · UPDATE: All parking gates at Yarra Park will be open but capacity will be heavily reduced (to around 50%). The MCG recommends taking public transport.
  3. Massive game tomorrow for the Dees: A win tomorrow and we move into 13th and then play Collingwood (11th) next week. Sounds pretty sad really talking about ladder positions at the bottom end but we MUST start moving up.
  4. Something I've seen a lot of in this game from both teams that doesn't feature in our play - tap ons and super quick handballs. They make such a big difference to the flow of the forward attack and unpredictable for the opposition - keep the ball moving when 'posession' isn't really required and allow the players on the outside of the contest to get more time with the ball as opposed to kicking forward under the hammer of a tackle from the opposition.
  5. On the counter attack and we handball to players standing still with their back to the goals causing turnovers. Just kick it!
  6. Terrible place for a game of footy, so bloody windy
  7. I don't watch a huge amount of Richmond games but I'm pretty well across most AFL clubs with ins and outs - they've got quite a few named that I can't put a face to, a very different side to the one we played and beat last year. I can only imagine that they're trying to expose our lack of leg speed - I'll caveit that with saying I'm not sure the ones they've included are actually faster, definitely younger though. We're paying $7 for 15.5 and over which is amazing value - had to grab it. Deledio generally plays well against us so happy to see him out and even better that Chaplin is in the stands. Go Dees!
  8. It will be interesting! Bucks in his post game has mentioned 'development' a few times and without the whole club really committing to that they are clearly in that phase with their list the way it is. Maybe it's more out of hope than anything but we should be beating them this year - both young teams. If we rock up and play four quarters, based on our improved ball movement - I think we'll win.
  9. What a terrible game of football. On this form we should beat COLLINGWOOD once Queen's Birthday rolls around. They're a very young side across the park now and without looking at all the numbers I think we'd have more established players than them.
  10. At least Salem has stood up today and had a great game in defense. A few others with him but mainly passengers the whole lot - have any of our leaders played well?
  11. 9 goals in a row to GWS. Not sure we've even touched the ball.
  12. Running Goal on the run to Newton!
  13. Having some real trouble getting past our half forward line for the last 10 minutes.
  14. Brilliant Quarter Dees, the Giants were never allowed to run with out a Dees player right on their clacker. Let's back it up!
  15. Carlton looking to be in a very familiar position to what we were in a few years ago. Mick admitting the list obviously isn't great and no one wants to come to their club, free agents leaving as soon as they can. Personally I look at their list and feel it's in horrible shape - the worst thing they've done is not realise the trouble they were in after last season and continue to trade in second rate players on top of already losing their own free agents and whole forward line from a few years.ago. To add to that - the recruits who haven't quite come on yet and the BlueBaggers are in big trouble for a couple of years, one can only hope.
  16. Surely, surely amongst the 20 something million of us there is a better commentator to call upon than Basil Zempilas?
  17. Not sure the Hawthorn forwards are going to benefit from Frawley delivering into their forward 50. He seems to be in a competition with himself about how high and long he can kick it every time.
  18. Amazing Win, so so happy! Already can't wait to watch the replay. All the new boys stood up really well. Derm' suggesting it was Garlett's best game in years. Brilliant debuts from Vandenberg, Hogan and of course Brayshaw, what a gun. Newton snagged a few and a great start from Lumumba. Jack Viney was running all day and for the few little mistakes he might make he also stops the opposition players getting the ball constantly. Very excited by the result and feels like a very different team even to last year. First time we've scored 100 points since 2013. Go Dees
  19. Salem goals after a chain of handballs! Haven't seen this from the Dees in years
  20. 108 to 83 5:12 to go Garrett just misses
  21. 12.9.81 to 8.8.56 Cmon Dees only 30 mins to go!
  22. Vandenberg smothers on the 50, gets the ball back handball to Newton and GOOOOALLLLLL
  23. Loving all the new recruits - very impressed so far. Keep it going Dees!
