  1. Yeah not sure why hat trick has come in recently. Maybe coz scoring 3 is a big deal these days? we have brought in so many annoying Americanisms like lace out and three peat, maybe they are starting on bring in European phrases now??
  2. Smith is a very inexperienced player and he had a fairly poor season. he has only played 18 games in his career, so this signing is on potential. He has a massive leap, is 6"3' and very agile and quick. Obviously he needs to learn the footy smarts and quickly. but if he got some continuity and confidence I think he could be a player. Play on a small quick fwd and take intercept marks, similar to Howe. Before I get shouted down, I am not saying he will be as good as Howe, just trying to think what the MFC would be thinking with him.
  3. I have been wondering where you are coming from, but I think you must not rate Viney that highly and I do. he might not be a star but he is one of our best players as seen in the BnF. I'd have him as top 6 most important players on the list. This might be the last contract of his career so I do not begrudge him at all trying to get a reasonable deal. No player is driven to succeed more than Vines so I feel confident he would not shaft the club by being unreasonable. to say he is holding the club over a barrel by demanding too much or not showing leadership is harsh imo. especially when we have no idea what is really going on
  4. even worse Cats would not be top 4 without Hawkins. they look terrible when he doesn't play or plays poorly. they boring keepings off game only works if the the fwds mark it
  5. Geelong versus WC. good lord, can they both lose? Cats will have 2 days rest on WC but I'd still back WC to get over the line in the Tim Kelly cup
  6. What a choke from Hawkins. 4 behinds and one didn't register. he has had a great year but bottled it tonight Port are a better team than geelong, too much pace and flair. plenty of good kicking skills in their back half too
  7. No doubt he and everyone else, needs to take the list and future success of the club into account but he deserves to get his share of the money. He is one of our best players and should be getting paid well above AFL average. comparisons to average Aussie income are irrelevant. So he should be ok with many players getting double his wage, some of whom aren't as valuable as he is? you must be joking? you really think quality senior players in the LG at Geelong are on 300K?
  8. It's called negotiation and would happen in most contract situations. start low, counter offer then agree. Viney is clearly worth a lot more than 3-400K per year. you have no idea if he took unders or not. He would be turning down more money from other clubs to stay with an unsuccessful club, which equals loyalty and leadership
  9. Definitely cheering on Port over the greased up arrogant Cats. They had their successful era 2007-2012. If they win more flags itโ€™ll mean teams can trade their way to a flag which hasnโ€™t been done before really. The hawks drafted their base of guns first remember I donโ€™t want the AFL to get like soccer
  10. Easy to understand CYB - we got offered a second rounder for a player outside of our best 22. Of course if we got offered this for O Mac we would have taken it. I imagine Frost was keen to leave also to get more opportunities. So it is not a case of choosing one over the other. We worked with the circumstances in front of us Incidentally, we then used the draft pick from frost to help get Langdon
  11. Canโ€™t see any team getting near North and the wooden spoon next year. bizarre off season already and itโ€™s barely started!
  12. Jesse gotta have it!! worth the fine

I want him to come based on his name alone I think Ham will carve it up. He thrives when the heat is on ummm what else... nickname, the Radio? I feel like Pig and Ham will gell well in the backline
  14. I see ANB as a player we would keep but who is tradable for sure. He is professional, the right age group. however his skill level is not good enough to play around the ball for long, too fumbly there would be around 10-12 players that we would not trade. the rest we would listen to offers. guys like Pruess, ANB are certainly in the latter category and have some trade value for us to improve our list
  15. DubDee replied to Elegt's topic in Melbourne Demons
Petty could be a player but I hope he can be a much needed forward option. So Oscar still needed as cover down back

O Mac has been poor but he is good back up if we have injuries. If may and lever go down. Who plays?
  17. Well then this is poor research from the demons and pruess over estimating his abilities he has been good to have a back up in case gawn goes down but thatโ€™s it. Hopefully we have scouts around the place and know who the best ruck/fwd is not on an AFL list.
  18. does anyone have any idea why he came to us? he must know he can't play fwd. maybe we just offered the most money/longest deal. pretty good money for doing bugger all
  19. DubDee replied to RedFox's topic in Melbourne Demons
cheers for the info I wonder if the cops don't like you much if they can charge you at their discretion? like a Shannon Noll-type unofficial law
  20. DubDee replied to RedFox's topic in Melbourne Demons
Why did they not get charged when found with drugs? are they above the law? sent for counselling like they are the victims, bizarre
  21. Haven't seen him play. The sun have a lot of good talls so doesn't seem to have gotten a look in. Sam Day has come good this year (If Day was available he would be handy) and King is obviously a potential gun
  22. DubDee replied to Lord Nev's topic in Melbourne Demons
Add in 900K for Martin and big money for McGovern and they will be cap trouble soon. you dont sell the farm for half backs. unless their game plan is to purely score from counter attacks/HB. they need 2-3 more solid midfielders. we need to keep cap space for a goal scoring fwd and for our guns (Trac etc) as they come into the big contract years
  23. What a fool. nice way to repay the faith the club showed him he has thrown away his last chance.
  24. Stats donโ€™t tell the story. Wingard had a poor year. AA my [censored]
  25. Too old. Injuries will hit soon.
