anyone know what Hogan is on now as our highest paid player? I assume ~800K if he signed a long term deal with us it would be ~1mil you would think?
-
I know but I reckon Jeff and the Club might come to an arrangement to free up his spot. His heart is clearly not in it anymore. We will probably keep Maynard I’d say
-
No I want to keep him because he is one of our best players and I believe he will dominate the comp for the next 5 years quality tall fwds are very hard to trade in or draft. it would be massive loss
-
With Kent going we have 8 spots open on our list and its only 3 days since the season ended! if hogan goes thats 9. No word about Maynard, Johnstone, Smith, Garlett yet sounds like we will be very active in the trade/draft!!
-
The problem for us is if Hogan wants to leave. we lose a lot of bargaining power. we can say we'll just keep him unless its a good deal but usually players end up going where they want to go. If we want to get rid of him, I will lose a lot of faith in the FD. If T Mac goes down next year we are screwed. Weid is showing promise but is years away from dominating and question marks remain for me. and we have no back up tall fwds

ooh he must want to stay in Melbourne then? #hoganmyths

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
DubDee replied to DemonLad5's topic in Melbourne Demons
May at 193cm doesnt really help us with our biggest issue at the back - Ben Brown/Cox types. Against these teams I would bring in Preuss along with Lever and O Mac O Mac is still young and developing and we also have Hibbo, Smith, Frost, Keilty developing etc May would be handy but I would have our priority as good ball users and outside speed. also Run off HB especially if Hunt doesn't come on -
BS - an injured blokes needs to watch every training session? pretty sure players meet with their managers regularly especially towards the end of the season
-
and ANB got 3 votes in one game. what a world no offence Alex
-
Says a bit about the club when players of Bugg's quality are delisted in their prime. An excellent runner and tough too. I expect him to get picked up. Good to see him exiting with class. no more junior or beamer debacles
-
The only reason I would entertain any deal for Hogan is if he said he will go to WA when he is a FA. restricted or not, players end up where they like usually and we would be left with nothing for a gun. is it 2021 when he will first be a FA?
-
People suggesting as many as 10 players getting cut or traded need to consider who we are getting in. We have no good draft picks at the moment, not a great position to trade and the best state league players will be given to the bottom teams. So players like JKH will certainly be on the list next year. I imagine T Smith will be as well. If Weed and Hogan both go down for example we need some cover. So 4 kids in the draft, 2 casey upgrades. 2 players traded in (Pruess and Gaff) - yes i still think we are a chance at gaff that is 6 so far.
-
If GWS lose Shiel this year and Kelly next that will be game over for them being a premiership threat in my opinion. they dont bring much talent in aside from draft picks. who wants to play in front of 8K. Bring it on. Kelly will rival Oliver in 2 years for the best player in the comp.

will miss yelling PEEEEDDDDDDOOOOOOO! put in some great efforts, especially when Gawn went down last year there will be quite a few list changes this year!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
DubDee replied to What's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gawny played 25 games at 85% gametime with little to no time resting fwd. He simply cannot continue t do this and expect to play for another 5+ years. Welcome Braydon, think I'll call him Pruesssy -
What a ridiculous thread. Hogan is one of key pillars to build on for the future. In the first half of the season he was arguably our best player and certainly in the top 3. Ran all day, averaged over 3 goals a game, played deep mid, a nightmare to match up on. in 2-3 years I think he will be the best fwd in the game kicking 60+ a year when he matures a bit more, learns to use his body better and get into space he loves the club and wants to stay not on the trade table.
-
If these are his numbers with two bad shoulders, he should be in for a decent year next year! Disposals - 734 * Contested - 404 * Clearances - 161 * Tackles - 168 * Goals - 12 Assists - 18 Inside 50s - 111 * club leader. he was second for the club in inside 50s
-
Mitchell wins as there is no one to take votes off him at the hawks. If he stayed at the swans no way he would have won. Gus is a fricken gun!
-
Pies are like the Tigers: not great but their best players are in their prime and are experienced. Sidebottom, Pendlebury, Treloar, Howe, Adams. When our best players (Gus, Clarry, Hogan, Trac) are 25+ we will be a very good side. expect some up and down seasons until then

Demonland Player of the Year - Preliminary Final
DubDee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Brayshaw in our best? Surely I watched I different game. A young bloke choked on a big occasion. He will learn from it. He had a terrible first half and couldn’t catch a cold. Kept trying. Fair play -
Massive choke game over
-
Can’t see us winning this one. Not sure if it’s just nerves or what.
-
Big call but I reckon this is a season defining game. ?
-
Pies are playing great footy. 8 contested marks from Cox. No way to stop him.
-
Dees v Pies GF first time both teams missed finals the 4 previous years?
