  1. we'd only play Spencer if we are absolutely desperate.

lucky for him we are!  so he is in even if not match fit.  Just run into that fat head Grundy all day Speno.  Oli and Jack will do the rest

Im excited to see how our young guys look after a week's rest.  I'm expecting big things from Oliver, Petracca and Hunt.  I know Oliver was still getting heaps of it but he looked tired in the last few weeks, imagine him after a rest!

  2. I don't get the concern about our 'bad MCG form'. I dont believe you can have bad form at a ground while having better form at other grounds during the same period.  We just played badly at home a few times.  what are we now, etihad specialists?

no excuses Dees, get it done

Agree, arguably their most important player. Wells out robs them of a bit of class as well. Sounds as if Goldsack is definitely out as well.

Leaving aside my obvious subjectively, if you look at this game objectively it sets up very well for a win for the dees, and possibly a big win. Collingwood are a youngish side, travelling back from WA (albeit with an 8 day break), have some key injuries, have been 'up''for a few weeks and playing on emotion and are coming off a tough game where they played a man short for a big chunk of that time and expended a lot of emotional energy.

Collingwood are also probably looking forward to the bye to freshen up, whilst we are coming off a bye and should be fresh. You'd think that the big crowd and big occasion of Freeze 3 at the G will help them avoid a sluggish start. Added to that, yes they are coming off three wins in a row but all all against pretty average sides.  If we get going early i can see us winning pretty well. I haven't looked at the line yet but if i was setting it i would have it as the dees +27.

I just checked the line is at +8 so great value in my opinion as is the +40 at 4.50

and we lost to 2 out of 3 of these average sides.

emotional big game, whoever goes in harder for longer will win imo

  4. You'd think greenwood and Goldsack with knocks should be fine to play. Wells looks no chance and we'll wait to see on Elliot.

Pies playing pretty well at the moment so will be a tough game. Grundy will carve us up without a ruckman

I stand in M9 each game at the 'G despite having a Premium (or whatever we are called these days) membership. At the Hawks games there's always a bunch of Hawks' nuff nuffs standing in M10 or M11. They have a multitude of soccer chants that never stops. A couple of ringleaders spend the majority of the match with their back to the action - 'conducting' the chants.

It's excruciating to hear. They could well be the most arrogant lot of AFL supporters getting around. My mate reckons it's their demographic. The majority were probably born in the 80's and have known little other than success.

Great to see the 'poo and wee' down the blunt end of the ladder. I just would like to see Lewy get his mojo back to add to their pain.

BTW it's pleasant sailing between Rhodes and Santorini. Not missing Melbourne's weather. Home in time for the QB.

Hey M_9! im a fellow stander... either M8 or M9 at most games, I'll have to wear a demonland name tag next game and say G'day!

are you the dude that always brings the 'coffee' thermos?

He is worse than bad. Offensive twit

hopefully SEN will have the Balls to get him off air.

    Agree

imagine what HE would write if a footballer had tweeted that. Head of football writing. F-ing joke.

Regardless of any outcomes, we have a long weekend in WA and I'll be wetting a few lines with my young bloke and enjoying the time not spent thinking about the Demons.

    This bye round is therapeutic.

I'm taking the mrs out for a few drinks this weekend! Booked the babysitter in

She asked where did this come from??

hasnt figured out its the bye round yet :-)

They just showed who they think are the best young talent in the comp On The Couch, Hipwood, Curnow, Burton etc...

    No mention of Clarry.

Even Shai Bolton had the handball of the round according to David King.

    NFI.

I honestly think its because Oliver is no longer seen as a new young talent.  he is in Brownlow consideration!

I would say he is too obvious to bring up on the show

I can't believe half of us don't think we will make the finals. We have lost two games we should have won, we have been cruelled by injuries, suspension, illness and bereavement. Many of our better players have missed games -Gawn -Hogan -Lewis - Salem - Hibberd - Brayshaw - Vince- vandenBerg -Tyson -Frost - Garland + Spencer  - We have been playing players injured and out of position. Only 9 players have payed all games, you could probably make a better team out of those who have missed. We have lost players early in games and have run out of steam to be overrun. If our luck changes and we have a good run with injuries and suspension we will shiit it in! Go Deeeeees!

    Love your enthusiasm ManDee!

wish I shared it.  Injuries are part of the game, look at GWS, 11 first 22 players out.  we have averaged around 3-4 first 22 players out this season.  just a pity that Gawn and Hogan are among them

Our form and consistency will have to turn around dramatically if we are to make finals but with Melksham/Hibberd/Lewis settling in and the young guys getting experience it could happen.

  10. Can't believe half of us think we will make finals. We are 5-5 off the easy part of our draw and we need to go at least 7-5 for the much harder part with tiring young bodies. Gawn and hogan will make a difference but not that much to turn our form and inconsistency around imo

  11. not sure Im as optimistic as others on Spencer, he was listed as 2-3 weeks 5 days ago. youd want him to play a half at casey but we are desperate i guess!

if Hoges plays it would be massive.  We probably cant expect much from him but it will lift the team to have him out there

    I disagree DubD

I think the exact opposite. This is just my opinion I'm not saying you're wrong .

Norf have bigger bodies which trouble us in the middle. Coupled with our lack of talls and our inability to deal with constant pressure i wasn't surprised ww dropped that game.

Vs GC they are more a front running type and if we hunt them like we did thr adelaide game i expect us to win comfortably.

Id be more upset with a lack of effort loss v gc then a tough fought loss to Norf

Agree to disagree UH. They are quicker and better skilled. Ablett, swallow, hall, Martin, miller and their talls are quality.  I reckon they'll click soon enough

and they beat cats and hammered Hawks.

Reckon the game is 50-50 on Sat

  14. Based on the VFL report I hope Hullett, Kielty and King are given some consideration for selection. obviously only one of them could make it into the team but we need some talls and Weid needs a spell.  all 3 of those can ruck and then Watts and Pedo can spend more time forward

Five losses by a combined total of 61 points.  Average losing margin = 12.2

We havent had an insipid performance yet, not even close.

However if we lose to Gold Coast who are coming off a trip to China where they kicked 4 goals for the entire match, it will be insipid no matter what the margin is.

losing to north at home is worse than losing to GC in NT IMO

GC are not too bad, and have a better midfield than north
