  1. Because of his family's history, he simply has to be there for his wife. If he was in the likely 23 I'm sure he would consider staying, but uncle time has called, he now has other duties. What a great man he has been, what a privelege that he played all of his 300 games for the Demons. He is one of my MFC heroes.
  2. Damn, I forgot about Sean Wight!!!!He takes Febey's place who becomes the Medical Emergncy.
  3. Lovett for Salem, Bruce for Jones, Green for Robertson - you have too many high flyers otherwise - Tingay for Johnstone, and Alan Johnson for Ingerson. ( Johnson finished in 1990 so technically, he qualifies.) Whelan for Febey, the most unlucky one to miss. With May, Neitz and Lever you have enough tall timber down back, you can throw Lyon down there if needed and you bring on Jakovich. Sounds like the plan to me... Ergo: Whelan, May, Johnson Lovett, Neitz, Lever Yze, Bruce, Tingay Green, Schwartz, Petracca Davey, Lyon, Framer Gawn, Oliver, T.Viney Stynes, Jones, Jakovich, S.Febey,
  4. How anyone could contemplate a side without Brett Lovett is beyond me. Ditto Aaron Davey.
  5. I would be even more impressed if it read '...since 1923..'
  6. Just noted Hawkins and Selwood had 'incidents' looked at by our very special Mike Christian and as usual, they l walked away Scott free....
  7. Both Carlton and Collingwood seem like clubs lost in the wilderness, similar to the journey Melbourne went through post the Gutnik years. Only a desperado would apply for a coaching gig at these symbols of dysfunction.
  8. Hope you're watching Mister Grapeviney.
  9. Neeld's first job was as a school teacher at Ivanhoe Grammar: a remark like that sounds very school-teacherous to me. I'm glad I didn't have him for a teacher.
  10. Mumford is another thug who regularly gets away with assault and battery.
  11. Greene is a very stupid angry young man who can play football. Like David Warner, if he wasn't a sportsman - as Warner has admitted - he would spend most of his life getting into brawls at pubs. Why do people glorify these morons because they are good at footy or cricket? Why issue them with a plethora of 'Get out of Jail Free cards' because they are good footballers and cricketers/
  12. Dangerfield and Brown have weighed in by claiming that because it's a Final, different standards should apply. What complete and utter nonsense. So if it's a final it's automatically a 'Get one free week' deal???? Rafferty's rules, if you do it from March until August you get three weeks, however, if you're playing a final you get a discount. What utter crap!
  13. In 2005 until early 2006 I worked part time at Acland Cellars, the evening shifts on Friday to Sunday. One night Davis Neitz came in and we chatted. I was bullish about our chances in '06, but he was curiously hesitant. Another night Ron Barassi entered. I mentioned I had been a Demon man since I was an eight year old Demon in late 1958. He was happy to talk, he paid for his wine and as he reached the door, he turned to me and said, Go Dees. Oh, and my son worked at his pub in Bridge Road in the nineties.
  14. Repeated fines is like fining a serial burglar $1000 every time he burgles and takes home 100 grand for his efforts.
  15. I hope they appeal: I agree with Mister Gill - for once: he should have been sentenced to six weeks.
  16. As I've written before, Greene has been cited 21 times, fined $29, 000 in total. For a highly paid player like him that's peanuts. And it certainly doesn't deter him. Fines in such a circumstance are giving him the Greene light to add to his status as a repeat offender.
  17. He's actually been 'lucky'. Most of the 22 charges ended in fines, nearly 30 Grand's worth. Maybe that's the problem in itself. A $1500 fine is SFA to a thug on $750 grand a year. Rub them out in the first place, make it a statutory and universal law that every time you get rubbed out you use up a certain amount of credits. When you reach your limit, you get banned for good.
  18. 'If I was Leon Cameron, footy hierachy and players at GWS I would be totally livid that he has comprimised the club with his actions which could torpedo their season' on how many occasions now????' Their football hierarchy needs to be held accountable as well. In most societies repeat offenders get their comeuppance. In AFL football you get imbeciles making cases on their behalf because he's 'such a great player who brings in the crowds' so what's the problem? They are just as stupid, in my opinion. It would be like the courts going easy on a repeat bank robber because he went to mass every Sunday and was a regular donator at the blood bank.
  19. Riley Beveridge made the preposterous claim that all of Greene's Tribunal issues have involved controversy. I don't see anything controversial about being rubbed out for punching, elbowing, and putting your studded boot into somebody's face. What has the world come to?
  20. In the end, the take on this by players and ex-players who can't see the problem, or want the tribunal to be lenient because he's a star, just proves that a lot of them are not the brightest tools in the shed. Petracca is obviously, shall we say, tool-less...
