  1. Whilst I would love to have Dangerfield, I personally don't see him coming to us. I think its more likely that the Shiel for pick 3 will eventuate and 2 will be traded on for a lower first round selection and player, another Tyson kind of deal.
  2. I'm super keen on some of the gws players. I've read a bit that they want to try to spread the age across their list so i'd be floating pick 3 for a player such as Treloar, Hoskin-Elliot, Devon Smith, Shiel etc. if any of the them want to head back to Vic.
  3. Yes, we are going to trade Evans to crows and Blease to collingwood for them. I think we are paying overs though...
  4. I went to school with him, he wasn't too bad at history if I recall...
  5. Sydney is going to lock in its first round pick for Isaac Henney (zone selection) so it won't be up for trade
  6. Just send him to the draft. MFC needs to make a stand. Compensation from Pies will be terrible anyway!
  7. Good news, but isn't there any unwritten rule in coaching contracts that a club will release them to go onto a senior gig? If this was done before Sando was sacked he still may go to the crows.. Surely not though!!
  8. I'd be happy with: In: Dangerfield, Pick 10, Lyons Out: Pick 2, Pick 3, Tapscott + a sweetener i.e. Blease or steak knifes? Think if we could hold on to pick 10 and 21 and Billy Stretch at 3rd rounder then we are still in a good position for the draft.
  9. Facebook rumour: "1116 SEN are reporting that a close source to Mitch Clark has said that the key forward will be at Collingwood next year, which comes as reports surface that Clark was again spotted at the Westpac Centre today."
  10. "Clark will remain on the Demons' list for 2014 before being delisted at the end of the year" - http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-04-08/demon-clark-retires If it is true that there is a slight chance of him wanting to play football anywhere we MUST keep him on our list. If he chooses to play on with Melbourne, fantastic. If he chooses to leave, he can be traded for whatever we can salvage. If he publically announces that he is retired for good, only THEN should we delist him. If we delist him on the 31st of October (as we are expected to) and he then decides to play on elsewhere we not gain any compensation for him.
  11. I agree. His value just went up as well with his performance against Richmond. 29 disposals, 8 marks, 13 tackles and 138 dream team points (second highest on ground). What would we need to part with for Sydney to consider a trade?
  12. Did anyone else think that our match with North was a much more enjoyable brand of football than previous weeks? I'd much rather see us kick 14 goals and lose by 30 points instead of kick 4 and keep the opposition to a lower score as well.
  13. I'm the opposite. I hope we trade both away. 1 for a Dom Tyson kind of deal which sees a lower first round pick to come back in which could be used on Lavarde, Duggan, Ahern etc. and another to be used on trying to get a ready-made player from another club.
  14. From the Bound For Glory phantom draft. Pick 57: Melbourne – Oscar McDonald Position: Key defender/forward Height: 196 cm, Weight: 88 kg, DOB: 18/03/1996 Club: North Ballarat Projected draft range 50-rookie Player comparison: Jackson Trengove Oscar McDonald is one of the better key defenders I am really bullish about in terms of advancing to the next level. He is tall and athletic, and also picks off numerous forward 50 entries with his tremendous ability to take intercept marks and rebound strongly. Best described as a general in defence, McDonald – the younger brother of Melbourne’s Tom – is extremely versatile as a defender, and, unlike most key defenders, he loves to back himself and use the ball by foot. He hits the ball flat and hard, and has a really nice turn of foot, being deceptively quick over his first few steps. The Rebels have also used him as a key forward, and he’s shown he can be just as damaging at both ends. He has a fantastic leap, strong hands, a really good work rate and rarely ever goes to ground.
  15. https://soundcloud.com/sen1116/mark-evans-on-the-run-home-14 Mark Evans tonight indicating we won't get one. FFS! Its there in case a plane crashes with an entire team on it pretty much
  16. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/afl-concedes-melbourne-could-receive-priority-pick-and-if-loses-james-frawley-could-have-top-three-draft-selections/story-fni5f91a-1226879331080 "AFL football operations manager Mark Evans would not debate hypotheticals, but indicated a special assistance selection, if awarded, would not fall in the first round." Don't think it'll be pick 1, a small chance of a pick following where we finish so pick 3, and more likely a second round pick (IF WE EVEN GET ONE!!)
  17. I went to school with Toby Greene and Tom Curran. Everyone knew they were going to be drafted since year 10.
  18. If a deal with O'Rourke can be done which doesn't cost MFC too dearly in picks I would definitely take a punt. I don't think we should have taken Toumpas at pick 4 IMO. That does not mean I would now use our current pick 4 on O'Rourke without something else coming back to MFC. Its the potential value for what you give up, so its not really comparable. I think we went overs for Toumpas but if we can get a good deal done then i think O'Rourke is worth the gamble.
  19. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/bidding-war-may-loom-among-afl-clubs-for-opportunitystarved-guns-of-2012-national-draft/story-fni5ezdm-1226927318309 Old, but where I got the idea from.
  20. Perhaps another Dom Tyson kind of trade where by we trade our pick 4 (Frawley compensation pick hopefully) for O'Rourke and a pick in the 7-10 bracket? Possibly with a swap of later picks in our favour? Just wondering if now if the time to get him before he improves and value rockets. Obviously that may never happen (story of MFC's life)
  21. Off contract at the end the season. Only managed 7 games over the past two seasons after being taken at pick 2 in 2012. I think he is definitely worth looking into. What would be a reasonable offer?
  22. Agree completely, was a disgraceful game. Absolutely no presence up forward and all players were afraid to have a shot so ended up chipping it around until it was turned over. Very disappointed.
