A goal to JKH on the half time siren after a turnover from the kick info. Casey goes into half time 2 goals up.

Keilty is playing beautifully. Reads the ball in the air so well. Looks a cut above. Frost has looked good with ball in hand. His superior physical attributes stand out even more are this level.

Frees 15 to 8 Williamstown way.

Tippett (who has been into Watts off the ball all day) just took out Fritsch(?) high and a touch late to give a 50m and a goal. Casey 29 v Seagulls 30 Morrison a quick second with a soccer off the ground from a pack. 35 v 30

Cohesion. The same group play and train together each week. In 2017s structured game, individual brilliance has less impact than in previous eras.

Agree re Watts. He looks to be trying but he isn't getting near it. Had a spell in the ruck and is now down back. Maynard in everything. Strong around the contest but disposal hasn't been clean. King has lifted a bit this quarter but Meese is still dominant. Weid just look a great mark, overhead on the lead in a contested situation. Missed the shot but it was. Has also been in the ruck.

Its actually a different situation. In that case, the player has complied wth law 16.2 which requires first that "A Player who has been awarded a Mark or Free Kick shall dispose of the football from directly behind The Mark." Because Mills never went back behind the mark there is only one correct decision: blow the whistle, stop play and ask Mills to return behind the mark. There could be a case for the umpire to decide that Mills was not claiming the mark as her kept moving forward, which would allow a holding the ball decision, but this would be a strange interpretation. Only when a player is correctly attempting to dispose "from behind the mark" would the rest of law 16.2 apply and a 50m apply.
-
Actually that's not correct. Mills never went back behind his mark, which means Betts had every right to tackle him. You can't even claim Betts came from behind because Betts was actually standing on the mark adder Mills wandered forward. There were only two justifiable decisions, play on (thus holding the ball) or stopping play and bringing Mills back behind his own mark. The idea that a player can mark the ball, keep walking forward but it not be play on until the umpire calls play on is not represented in the rules. IF Mills went back behind his mark first then no problems with the umpire having to call play on before the tackle could be laid. But that isnt what happened.

that was a horrible 50 m penalty. possibly the worst decision of the year.

WHO ARE THE TOP SIX SPEEDSTERS IN OUR TEAM?
deanox replied to Bobby McKenzie's topic in Melbourne Demons
In Trengove's two games he had the highest average moving speed of anyone on the ground. Against Port he was Melbourne's highest (3rd on the ground) for "distance covered at high speed (above 18 km/h)". He only played 90 of more than 120 minutes against port and 84 of more than 124 against north. -
To me this was one of the signs that told me he didn't mean to do what actually happened. Take an unsighted swing at an opponent who had just elbowed him in the ribs? Yes. Get him one in the head? Maybe. Knock him cold? Certainly not. Watch how Bugg reacts. When he sees Mills down he suddenly props and looks around. He didn't intend the outcome and was spooked by it all day.

WHO ARE THE TOP SIX SPEEDSTERS IN OUR TEAM?

Here are a couple. Salem takes top spot and Hunt doesn't feature. I really think acceleration is a better measure of "pace" in our game than top speed but this is all we have! -
Surely the source is the Demonland podcast? I'm pretty sure in Dave Missons report he said he was back training but a week or two away.

This is why I asked the question. But ive answered the question of "absolute top speed" in the meantime. -

Top speed? Average Speed? Repeat sprint? -
He hit a lot of aerial costs but just didn't take the mark desire getting hands on it. He attacks the ball at the highest point which means he is hard to spoil, but at the moment he doesn't have the body strength tho take those big pack marks. If this strength and the resulting marking develops, he becomes a dangerous player. I really think that this is the affect of his development that the coaching team are waiting for. For example, today he would have taken marks instead of 2 and we would have been singing his praises. He has a different skill set and strength to Hogan which will diversify the forward attack. I think anyone writing him off before he has developed the strength required to execute his key abilities is crazy.

i hope garlett gets the same.

Also Oscar in our top 5 at the moment. His positioning has been fantastic.

All four of their goals are from poor umpiring decisions. playing on after the mark not paid 8 m mark [censored] free kick against jetta a play on from over the mark instead of bringing the player back which allowed them to get a run on.
-
that defensive turnover and subsequent goal was all due to Oscars movement and zone work in defence.
-
set play kick out. we never do that.
-
how is that not play on?

Nah, if Port beat dogs and then Richmond beat st kilda we can make it with only beating bris and pies.
