Help us make decisions about our club

As were so many other decisions - like the blazers. Intentions - the need to do something, anything - trump intelligence every time. -
Help us make decisions about our club

You're being surveyed as a customer, not as a member or supporter. Get used to it. -
"I'm under no illusions as to the hard road that lies ahead" The old dog for the hard road, Jack, and the pup for the path. I guess if MFC folded I'd follow the Tigers, just because my best mate of forty years is a rusted-on Tiger, and we could go to matches together. But I don't believe it will happen.

In principle, counterfactual arguments can go on forever.

I doubt that there's an evolutionary advantage, but there is probably a psychological one; like the famous headstone, "I told you I was sick." Let the last post be "I told you so. End of story."

Sure, Robbie, the past never goes away. My point is that picking it over must be pleasurable, since it isn't generating any new insights. So let it bleed, let it bleed.

The pleasure of picking scabs. Of recycling water under the bridge.

NAB Challenge 2 - Melbourne v Geelong
Elusive Tunbridge replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
I didn't mind the video, with it's "work in progress" title. The underlying message seems to be "the Dees are on their way". We may have to endure some condescension from the media, but I think we're getting more positive treatment. -
Boosting memberships is the big picture at the moment. I remind Demonlanders that the club runs a membership telemarketing campaign staffed by volunteers.
-
I don't object - how could I? - to those supporters who want to kick in a bit more. Hell, at $20 a win, if we win ten games that would be about 0.08% of the average player's annual wage. Many a mickle makes a muckle. To those who point out that it's not compulsory - duh! A previous poster called this club initiative "tacky", and so it is. What's wrong with a pie night?

I guess my love for MFC is not as deep and unqualified as seems to be the norm here.

This is a pretty shaky platform for playing the old "Who's a real supporter?" game, DOF. "Grandstanding", "Childish and pathetic" - climb down from your dunghill.

When i was an undergraduate I attended a lecture by a prison psychiatrist on the nature of murder. He outlined three different killings - utterly different circumstances, one calculated, one impulsive, one that would probably now be called justifiable homicide - but the law put them all under the charge of murder. I suspect that GBH is similar, and that a wide variety of incidents get lumped into one legal category. My lecturer's point was that it's up to the judge to weigh up many factors in determining a sentence, and I've been told the same by an experienced judge. No priors and strong evidence of provocation - I'm guessing he'll get a relatively light sentence. Which will no doubt enrage some on here.

As far as I'm concerned this is a Cam Schwab sort of scheme. No sooner do we get a whiff of hope around the club than they try to milk it. I've kicked in for memberships for long enough - I'm owed some victories, not this rubbish.
-
I'm obviously on the wrong medication.

In my dreams I kick twice as many goals as Dawes. Put me in your Dream Team.

King = nowhere near ready physically Harmes = promising, but absolutely inexperienced. Casey is his go. Jetta = a possibility, but has had plenty of opportunity without sealing a spot. Casey again. Georgiou = what he showed Friday he's been showing for two years in SANFL. Experience, maturity, decision making. This is a no-brainer.
-
Those who were watching him report that he led constantly up the ground and took his defender with him. His possession count doesn't reflect his real contribution. Doesn't make him first 22, but the guy is certainly working hard this year to hold a spot on the list.
-
The thing is, Frawley must decide this year. Roos doesn't have to. Frawley's decision can't be conditional on Roos'.
-
Does this seem like BS to anyone else? Frawley wants club security

NAB Challenge 1 - Richmond v Melbourne

yeah, yeah. All I mean is there's no spoken difference between "practice" and "practise". Just sayin'. -

as she used to be wrote, surely? -
For someone who was picked up almost as an afterthought in the rookie draft, he came remarkably well-credentialled - dual premiership player in the SANFL, top FB in that league - and it's already apparent that he is required defensive depth. Depth, not fringe, and it's easy to imagine him establishing himself in the starting 22 within a couple of years.

It's a Colin Sylvia thread, stuie.

Experience is no use unless you learn from it. He never had a break-out year because although we might have forgiven his past failures, he just forgot 'em. We got more value for him than we ever got from him.
