  1. Amazing how M. Jones can be so, so good and so, so bad. He had a similarly atrocious turnover in the Geelong NAB cup that threw the momentum out the window, IIRC. But he runs his ass off and has kicked a goal. Arguably his miss at the end of last week was a game ending one, too.
  2. Amazing how similar this game feels to last week. Close the whole game, unfortunate to be trailing, stays all the way through to the end of the 4th then falls apart. Here's hoping we don't repeat the last part again (umps would want to rewarding good tackles though!)
  3. So damn frustrating, we're working our asses off here to keep that lead, then you have that happen. Not only did we hand them a few goals, but the way they cross the field and get it to their forward line is embarassing.
  4. Viney stiff not to be rewarded for that beautiful chase and tackle. Can we get some consistency umps?
  5. 5 marks inside 50 in our first quarter alone. Our season high for any match is 11. So the forward line seems to be working, but still lacks the accuracy of JKH's kicking.
  6. So he'll easily miss the Port match. Not a winnable match either way, Dawes in or out.
  7. We're lacking something up forward without JKH, not happy with him as the sub. If it's player management, he has two weeks from here to rest during the bye. Should've been Toumpas, if anyone. Unless Roos wants him to replicate his 3 goal second half from the NAB challenge, when everyone else was exhausted?
  8. Geez, the epitome of shooting one self in the foot. Sounds like all the rumours floating around about the kid were true. Absolute [censored] and not well liked by teammates.
  9. Except one was injured and the other's an undisciplined idiot. Great comparison.
  10. Hogan's back in Melbourne this weekend. Do you think the club can get him up and running within 3 months?
  11. I'd rather nab a proper key forward like Tex or Patton than keep Frawley up there, personally.
  12. Saw that on 360, was nice that Murph saw the humour in it. Compare what JKH did to the unnamed GWS [censored] who was berating a Swans player before their derby match, mocking them for missing out on a premiership medal in 2012 due to injury. Think it's become very clear the egos in that team, as led by king of all flogs Tom $cully, have gotten more than a little ahead of themselves.
  13. Who said JKH was a loner at training and didn't have friends in the group? He and Salem walked off the ground in Adelaide with arms around each other. Definitely don't think the kid is short of close mates at the club. Nice to hear he and Dom are close, too. Can't wait for Hogan to get out there every week, nothing but positives for the young group Roos is assembling for us.
  14. Guessing either Salem getting a full game, or Riley debuting as a sub.Or who knows, maybe someone re-signed?
  15. Obviously I'm biased but Hogan's smart enough to see the upswing of being part of the core youth at the Dees. It might take another couple of years but I can firmly see the bright future now. Ross Lyon takes over clubs, teaches them his exhausting stranglehold of a game plan, then leaves once the club passes their premiership window and moves on to the next project. Look at where St Kilda are now, that'll be Fremantle's aged list in a few years. I think we're already seeing the fall, far earlier than predicted. What Roos is trying to do is not only get us competitive, but assemble a core youth that will dominate in 3 to 4 years. Ross Lyon has a completely opposite approach with recruitment, trying to get aged players to push his team straight up the ladder as fast as possible, and not bothering with youth development.
  16. Dom Tyson was signed with the Giants until the end of next year. Contacts don't mean much in modern football if a club needs something they don't have.
  17. Relax, the kid hasn't played a game yet and the last thing he needs on his mind is contract negotiations. The club is doing the right thing for him mentally by focusing on his health and not the status of his contract. By all accounts Roosy and the club have done everything they can to make Jesse and his family feel part of the club. If he still decides to go, there's not much we can do except bend Fremantle over a barrel. We hold all the cards in any scenario where he wants to leave. I think he'll re-sign, FWIW. And that'll happen at the end of the year once Roosy commits to year three and they've decided who to let go from our current list.
  18. Frawley and Terlich will definitely be rested due to injury and concussion. Georgiou will also come back in after being rested, so Dunn will probably replace Frawley in the forward line, Georgiou will replace Dunn in the back line, and someone will come in for Terlich. Pretty sure Riley will be the new sub whenever he gets into the side.
  19. Turn your sadness into anger at the pricks responsible for this mess. Hird and Dank deserve life bans from professional sport if found guilty.
  20. He's home for a few weeks to relax his back of any stress, then they'll ease him back into it. I'm sure they're hopeful he might get up around round 20 and squeeze in 3 or 4 matches this year, but I doubt it'll be any earlier.
  21. Gill said there's contingency plans in place... whatever that means. But if it's 40 show cause letters, they're in a world of trouble.
  22. http://www.theage.com.au/rugby-league/league-news/dozens-of-players-across-two-codes-face-penalties-over-doping-20140511-zr9rg.html Well, I think we can pencil in a win for the 15th of June if this progresses quickly.
  23. He can't have money AND success, if he wants to walk into a premiership team he's not going to get $800k. It would suck to lose him, but Roos would work miracles with picks 2 & 3ish.
  24. I think GWS are suffering from the same problem we've had over the years: a dearth of guiding wisdom from established, senior players. They might have been gifted years of early picks in the draft, but without a plethora of senior players to guide their development on and off field, they'll remain miles behind the Gold Coast's conversely excellent development (relative to the same timeframe). Sheedy and their recruitment team were more interested in getting every top draft pick they could, and expected them to just flourish into a cohesive unit (sound familiar?). Sorry folks, but it doesn't work that way. The GC are turning into a powerhouse off the back of Ablett's sensational leadership. Dawes training up Hogan (and in a perfect world Patton) will be a real coup for us. Who are the Giants' KPF's meant to learn from and develop under?
