He probably suits Roos' needs quite well. Tall, can go into the midfield, has played in defence, knows how to run, excellent leadership qualities.

Absolutely, but every draftee is a risk in one way or another. Tyson had knee issues and look how good that turned out. Trenners looked great in his first year, now his foot's buggered.

So... within how many hours will these 3 be delisted? There were rumours about the playing group being told "8 of you won't be here next year" after one of our worst losses. Who knows if true.

Didn't you hear? Not getting pick 12 for Trengove destroyed the master plan of getting Kennedy, Dangerfield and keeping pick 2 for Brayshaw, and there was literally no way for us to get pick 12 via another means.

It would've been nice if the club went into meltdown two weeks ago with infraction notices. I'd feel much better about our trade period if there'd been a fire sale of Zaharakis/Heppell/Carlisle and Goodwin brought in all 3.

If Trenners goes on the LTI, does that allow an extra senior list spot for anyone other than a rookie? A DFA for example?

Not sure what to make of Saints keeping pick 1. Riewoldt is "expected" to retire next year according to the HS, so this is their last chance to get a key forward in to train under him. They either rate Petracca so highly they aren't prepared to give him up, or they were keen on McCartin and had a hunch we'd take them with pick 2 or 3. Will be interesting if they do take McCartin and we have to choose out of Petracca/Wright/Brayshaw/Lever.

Forgot about Trenners and the LTI. They'd probably prefer to take a punt on Harmes for the LTI substitution and get Jetta on the main list. He's starting 22 for mine.

I don't disagree... I've said all along that if Paul Roos can't fix this team in three years, just about nothing will. We seem to be stuck in a cycle of "draft the best young players of the year, lose our senior developed players to free agency," and other teams are more than happy to see us stuck in this position because it prolongs their dominance at the top (even if the long-term hurt this brings to the league is far more detrimental). My initial anger at not bringing in any midfielders has tempered. I know we've butchered every single high draft pick since, like, forever... so I'm warming to the idea that FINALLY we have one of the smartest men in the AFL, Paul Roos, getting a free hit at the second and third best young players in the country, with George Stone waiting to develop them. Hard not to be excited about that.
