  1. If you have ever actually read my posts you will know I have judged Yze on his total contributions over the past four years. Where in the post you quoted me did I say I was judging him over the past year. Yours is a case of overblown and grammatically challenged hyperbole in desperate needs of some facts and relevance to the argument.
  2. I recall Gary Lyon saying after that NFL game of Bennetts ...."Hmm six kicks and one tackle...thats about game average for Darren at MFC"
  3. I hope our midfield does. And Yze has played forward for the past 3 years. I dont see Yze's attitude or body living up to the hype. If we have a near full ist to pick from he will end up gracing Sandy for most of 2008.
  4. Good summation Maurie. And very pertinent to all those people who want to retain all those 28yo+ fringe players as if MFC is a retirement village for NQR players.
  5. There is no need to personalise this as you havre tried often to do. I think your last sentence is your most valuable one. BTW, Axis of Bob has nailed it perfectly. Generalisations of a group of people is a generalisation whether it is made about the group or by one of the group.
  6. Dunn has struggled to make an impact at AFL and his commitment at the ball has been in question. His demotion was in recognition of this. The VFL is a good place to put the lessons taught into practice. Hopefully he kicks on from here. However I would have selected him earlier Garland is tall and raw with good potential. He has had a taste of AFL and needs to build his game in the VFL before he takes it to the next level. CJ- He has been tried and come up chumps each time at AFL. Has the ability. Does he have the attitude to make it? VFL would be a good place to show. He struggles at the top level and I dont see how it would develop him. BTW, if we were vying for the eight, I would hope we would be playing our best team. If Buckley showed the form there is no reason why he would not be selected. See Bartram and Bate. I agree with you that Pickett, Ward and Bizz offer us little and should not be picked. Brown is undervalued in the side. He was close to BOG on Saturday night. He does alot of the work especially on the defensive side that our so called stars refuse to do.
  7. I think the site administrators can track people listing and posting under two aliases.
  8. Actually it doesn't. Both Dunn and CJ have spent time in the VFL to address shortcomings in their game at AFL which was negating their performance and actually plateauing their development. Hopefully Dunn kicks off and CJ gets the message. Garlands time will come more so in 2008.
  9. Robbo was lucky he reckless foray into the centre did not land him a suspension. If his hip and shoulder had've connect with the Bulldog's player head it could have been sickening all round. I agree with you. Dutchy and Browny receive so little credit for the way they played. Its mystifying how people lauded so so players like Pickett and Ferguson. Dutchy should get another year. I think you will find Doggy will retire at year end. That statement alone should be the trigger for asking serious questions about some of the commitment and questionable future of some players on our list.
  10. Great post Rogue and salient reading. Well done. I did nothing of the sort. I said that the issue of a player's aboriginality was irrelevant to Sheedy's interest in a footballer. You do take people's arguments out of context and it does you no favors. If you are offended by what you hear at the footy against your background then you have my full sympathies. It is disgusting. But please dont play the racist card at me as that was completely contrary to my point. And it clearly derides any sensible discussion. I'll leave it at that. It deserves no further comment.
  11. Didn't we have Paul Prymke at CHB prior to his back injury? Prymke was a very capable player and SA state rep at CHB in 1993/1994.
  12. Wrong. Each player is responsible for the effort and work on their body size and fitness. A fitness trainer only sets the planning and advice. Pickett has a slack attitude and wont do the work necessary. Neither.
  13. I dont think Pickett's background has anything to do with what Sheedy would do if he coached Melb. And again it is a generalisation that if he was appointed that he would do anything of the sort with a player who has poor attitude and motivation record at three clubs now I did not abuse you and only stated an opinion based on logically arguing the point. I also dont find typing in upper case conducive to sensible debate. Thanks for the hyberbole anyway.
  14. Exploit the lack of height in the Bullies. Determine whether between Miller, Bizz, Holland and Ferg as to who should go. I think he should go. I think its unlikely another team will identify any trade value in a NQR player in a bottom side. I think other teams are far smarter than that.
  15. Wonderful isnt? Not on the radio.
  16. Sheedy likes good footballers regardless of generalisations and characterisations about race. He like any coach likes to get players cheap and is prepared to use cellar dweller and PSD picks to get them. Some work some dont. Camporeale did not work. Neither did Cole. Neither did he with Dean Rioli. I dont think your generalisations bare logic to why Sheedy would want a player who cant motivate himself to play let alone fit regardless of his skin colour.
  17. No. I believed that they laughed at MFC's 2004 meltdown and the fact that the team player award went to a player that does not handball. However, it would also be reasonable for them to have a wry grin given they know the selfless and fearless way he plays the game. I glad you agree that your earlier comment was an assumption.
  18. Agree Rogue. Its the bleedin obvious. Its about improving your list and if we use the pick properly at draft time we either get a good young player or improve our bargaining chips at the trade table. A no brainer.
  19. Gouga, he had nine touches and three marks on Saturday against an undersized dispirited rabble. I thought he just went and was not a major contributor. I cant see the fuss in him. I'd play Garland rather than Ferg. I dont see Ferg matching up with either Cloke or Rocca. And he wont be around next year.
  20. I dont know either way. Once again you made the statement saying "They would probably be friends with Yze. Played with him." I dont think you can make the assumption. I dont know why you would think OX would make a candid statement on public radio that he did not like someone. I do not see the relevance of your one off short meeting with OX. I am aware of many successful AFL teams where despite appearances players did not get on.
  21. It was only reference as a "sign" petal. It was not a sweeping statement. Its not relevant who chooses it. The relevance is the MFC listed player performing and justifying his selection. I dont have to names. But your the one big on your own research. Go do some. Try Bizzell and CJ for starters. Its now been a number of weeks and they have not apparently dominated at this level. They should be. BTW, it is not good sign for MFC player not to be prominent in the best. If they are fighting for their careers its not. I dont care who selects it.
  22. Yes. It was said in relation to the way MFC melted toward the end of the season and the lack of players who were prepared to do the hard things and the 1%ers. And they used the Yze award as an demonstrative of this weakness. Its a pity that weakness contuinued in 2005, 2006 and 2007. I wonder if its got something to do with Club culture. They were right. I would not always assume that just because people played together that they are necessarily friends.
  23. I recall when it was announced Gary Lyon and David Schwartz on SEN laughed that it is the first time they could recall that a player could win the team player award without giving a handball. Rather embarrassing when two ex- stars of the Club are able to say that on radio without one talkback caller challenging them on it. Hmmm!
  24. I'll quote it again Sleeve... "So far, all issues considered, the return on the investment in any of those three has not been high." Thanks and I call you if I need your research.
