  1. Nasher, You are so right about that. Happens too often.
  2. In 2002, Neitz won the Coleman Medal and there was daylight between him and the next best goal kicker as I recall. Robbo's year was marked by series of highs and lows in performance. His good was good but his poor days were indeed very poor. I can recall he really had no 2nd effort after his first attempt to win the contest mark or otherwise failed. I am concerned that some aspects of that are creeping back into his game.
  3. That was 2002. He was struggling as a footballer and battling to hold his spot. In 2003 he had obviously recevied a rocket because he did pull his finger out and won the Bluey in a poor MFC year. But he has had his contract negotiated since then. I would suggest at the end of 2004 and got three years presumably at a fair clip given he was coming into 2005 as a VC.
  4. Jaded that is my concern with Robbo over the past two years. Together with the changing nature of the game and demanding forwards being more accountable in their defensive skills and more mobile. Robbo lacks the last two skills and is often exploiting those skills for "ME" and not "TEAM". Also from a culture perspective MFC needs to rid itself of this pestilence. Good teams play for each other. Its one area MFC has not done for a while. Has he? How are you so sure?
  5. Agree unless they have already made there mind up on Neaves and Hayes one way or the other.
  6. No. Robbo is not a small forward. He plays taller than his height and can be a hard mark up for oppositions when he is focussed to play. I can think of a small forward who is more redundant when the ball hits the turf. Injuries, his selfish play and his lack of defensive intensity condemn him. The game is changing and its finding him out. There is more to AFL than focussing on MOTD and GOTD.
  7. This thread has gone wayward on cutting dollars without looking to enhance the list. Jeff White Cameron Bruce Travis Johnstone Russell Robertson Clint Bizzell, Ben Holland and Yze will all be gone by year end or within 12 months. Unless we have a better trade deal for Bruce, TJ, White or Robbo we should not cut our noses off...... However White and Robbo have a finite life and we need to consider just on what terms we extend their contracts. Any extension for Robbo should be viewed carefully IMO.
  8. Its testamony to the fate of this Club that we adulate a taltented but such an inconsistent, selfish and often lazy forward with little or no defensive skills. Robbo star is slipping and has done so for the past two years. I hope we dont hold onto his carcus too long like we have done with Yze. If Robbo ever goes meow I'll pay for his first vet trip.
  9. Its was merely Deanox's opinion about the likelihood of Miller and the comparison with Woey's call up. You are focussing on age to the exclusion of ability. Rest assured I would never waste any wit on you.
  10. Before you jump at shadows...... 1. The financial plight of MFC and lack of off field facilities and resources was a given day 1 of the coaching process. 2. The AFL has regular meetings with the MFC adminstration and all other Club administrations to whom they provide additional funding. This does not imply anything about the relationship. 3. No. the MFC board will decide who is going to be coach. The level of AFL funding to MFC and its financial situation will be factor of consderation by a prospective coach. The Sheedy situation is nothing like the RDB situation at all. There is a short term frenzy about Sheedy in the media following his termination at Essendon. Outside the wayward comments on this site there is no suggestion like there was with RDB that Sheedy will be the "silver bullet" to our problems. Your comments about the Kangas and AFL agenda are pure speculation in search of a plausible fact. Sheedy does not need to Coach a financially stressed Club like MFC to become an AFL Commissioner. If he wanted it I have no doubt he would ultimately be appointed. While the AFL has a lucrative TV contract requiring 16 clubs playing 8 games a week then MFC will continue to receive financial support while the Administration is operationally and commercially responsible. I have seen nothing to suggest that the Administration have been otherwise during an horrendous period on the field coupled with staff turnover off it. Too much stirring the pot without substance.
  11. ."..but he has about as much chance of making it at this stage in his career as wowoedin has of being picked back up by an afl club in this seasons draft." What Deanox is saying is that in his opinion Miller has little chance of making it in AFL and drew the likelihood of Woey being picked up in the draft. Its has nothing to do with Miller's trade potential nor their respective ages. You dont read very well do you. P.S. Apologies to deanox if you thought otherwise B)
  12. Age had little to do with the basis of the comparison.
  13. Michael Voss's apparent ego problems rank nowhere compared to the flatulent blasts from all knowing posters who have jumped all the MFC coaching selection process and stated that we should just get Voss without even an iota of understanding of where the person is at. They must be squeezing tightly under a rock at the moment. I think Voss has a number of things to deal with over the next couple of months. For all the bravado from "those apparently in the know" Voss lack of maturity as ably caught on video must be gnawing at the chap himself. Now on with the hyberbole and mistruth about Sheedy.
  14. How many MFC players turn up fat to pre season 2 years running? How many MFC players who are emergencies for a game ring up the Coach and say "Sorry Squire, I'm a bit too hung over to play"? At least the other players can handle the very basic requisites for AFL. Pickett came here with a specific purpose and failed miserably to deliver. Regardless of what he does for the rest of the year I could not give a stuff. I want him gone at year end. I wont be celebrating his 200th game.
  15. Lets just see if Sheedy lasts the process. It like getting excited about the winner of Big Brother after only one week. (No i dont watch it!) Bub, Is a "3x3", a clapped out 4 WD car, a nine year contract or a 3 year contract with a further option of one or two 3 year terms? If its the latter, at whose option is it exercised?
  16. Pagan was a dead man walking at Carlton and has been so for at 12 months prior. You could send those signals to Thompson without playing your hand. Harvey is assistant at Freo so he wont be available until year end. Daniher is a free agent and they could have spoken to him on the quiet. It does not add up why they did it when they did.
  17. So why did Essendon move pre emptively on Sheedy? What did they think they would miss out on?
  18. Well said Jaded. In the rose coloured world of some we should be celebrating his sub standard performance.
  19. Why is it an aboriginal thing? I would have said all MFC players have had a bad year
  20. I kept it simple for a reason. He has not played for reasons of his own doing. Did you go watch the Sandy game? He played one strong quarter and huffs and puffs like Garfield the cat and cant run out a full game. He had a big big chance to deliver for us this year particularly with our long line of injuries and failed us miserably. The Club has been very lenient with him given what he has delivered.
  21. He was a talent (past tense) He cheated the players, the Club and the supporters with his unprofessional and lacksadaisical commitment to MFC. He has done nothing to justify selection since his suspension. He does not deserve to play his 200th. I rather give to an honest charity and the Club should save money on the crepe paper for the run through. He is finished.
  22. The most disturbing aspect with Brad Miller on this site is not the generally thoughtful criticism and assessment of his performance (there have been one of two poor posts) but the almost fanatical belief by some clearly misguided posters that he is/was the second coming and our great solution at CHF. He was not and never has been. And the attempts to justify his poor performance on a past coach who has clearly given him every opportunity, support and trust over that period is quite appalling and beggars belief.
  23. His Age is not in question. At 24 and six years and 75 games in the system he is at the crossroads. Your faith is admirable but dont let it cloud the reality of situation. This thread started with a burst of pure fantasy and has been dealt with some clear reality.
  24. We are already on track to get pick 2 or 3 in the draft then pick 18 and 20 or thereabouts
