  1. Should we have kept him that extra year and he would have walked through the PSD and MFC got nothing?
  2. There is no doubt that absence of the 3 Ms puts more pressure on Jones. However, the across the board poor disposal and turnover errors by MFC is just going to kill us in games. Until we can learn to execute by hand and foot correctly, we will struggle. The MFC coaching department need to make an assessment of which players they believe can step and consistently achieve these standards. Those that dont pass the criteria need to be moved on as soon as possible.
  3. Its quite amusing watching someone spend so much time pumping up their own tyres then perpetually puncturing them with some of the most trite and ridiculous criticisms of players. Other posters have more aptly summed you up.
  4. Agree. Its an issue that has slipped into his game in the past few years and undermined his effectiveness
  5. MMM have correctly struck their target audience so it seems. Our inability to execute proper disposal by hand or foot crucifies the commendable hard work and endeavour that is happening. Its a fundamental probem that needs to be solved if we are to move upwards in 2009 and beyond.
  6. Why would the Hawks waste a spot on the list for a ruckman who cant cut it with the bottom side? And the Lions have superstar mids? It just gets better.
  7. Peter Street in the VFL beat him easily yesterday. The ignominy of it. White is finished. Lets move on.
  8. Completely agree Maurie. Hawks would be the last club to go for him.
  9. How many quarters did Grimes play? For the past two weeks he has only played a half of footy. This week he played off the half back line. He is still getting his fitness up. Once he is fit enough to run out 4 qtrs he should be looked for elevation to Sandy 1sts. Thanks again for the report Barry.
  10. No 5 cant get on the track for 2 years. No7 was on the verge of being dropped this year for poor performance and is out injured for a year with uncertainty if and how he will return. No 9 has just been dropped to Sandy. And there in our top 10? No wonder we are on the bottom.
  11. Agree. Worsfold should and will be held responsible for the Club's slump if it continues.
  12. If we cast aside the hoopla, Voss has never coached at all at any respectable level. We dont know if he can actually coach at all. He needs to get real coaching experience at lower levels before he plays the main game of AFL coaching. Its a ruthless job in an established club. In a start up its going to be a monumental challenge. DB is seeking to change the cutlure at MFC. Voss will have to create it out of nothing. Big test of character. After Voss's appalling lack of judgement last year at a bar, I just wonder if he has all the attributes necessary to do the job If he was appointed by GC and his first actual senior year of AFL was a disaster it could very well be due to issues sown in the first two years. AFL is a tough competition. GC cant afford a wrong step. Voss would be an "unknown punt" for them. Given the situation, three years is a long contract for an untested inexperienced coach. Four years would have been ridiculous.
  13. Smart move all round. Voss has been a great footballer in his time but it does not make him a good coach. I would not give a person with no AFL (or any serious) coaching experience a four year contract. Even a three year contract is generous for someone with no experience. Hell Clarkson only got two years when he started at the Hawks and he had a very good coaching grounding.
  14. I'd be more concerned about his other 21 teammates who would have more of an impact on us.
  15. Its a curious list with two players on the LT injury list (one for 2 years now) and one player who has not played a game and who is reported to be learning the art of defensive pressure in Sandy with varying degrees of success..
  16. If we do get Watts, I would not expect much out of him in his first year given he wants to focus on his VCE year in 2009. More longer term.
  17. I hope we dont have to have an emergency.
  18. Not at the moment and has not been for some time. Certainly well before the carnival. There has been alot of hype about him but a bit more reality is settling in. He will be a high pick (Top 5) but he may not be No 1 pick.
  19. Agree. Why do they do it? So drunk he might know even realise its there or how he got it. I have often wondered what attention seeking gene it is to have a loud tattoo that you cant see but everyone else can Once recovered he will be fit enough to have "Such is life" circumferencing his navel in gothic lettering. :D
  20. No offence but if he is contracted in 2009, DB cannot delist him even if he wanted to. Nevertheless, Carroll will have to rely on injury/poor form of others to return in any susbstantive way to the MFC side. His cards are marked and I hope we have better defensive solutions going forward.
