  1. Whatever, you want to call it, its going to be a non tax deductible donation to MFC. The raffle just gives you some chance at a prize. Just give direct if you hate raffles.
  2. Agree. I have never seen so much "expertise" poured out on just one viewing of certain players. Its no wonder knowledgeable recruiters spend so much time at a number of games and review many hours of footage. Too much soapbox chest beating for mine here.
  3. Old beer this one.... Barely raised a comment here when it broke in the news in Nov 07
  4. Agree. However I thought the article was more an effective way of diffusing media interest in what should be an internal MFC matter. It was well handled by the Club.
  5. Jmac is an interesting one. If he did play it would have been some years ago. Davey played at Sandy early in his career at MFC didn't he? 2004?? Jamar must have rack up about 100 games at Sandy!
  6. Bell's capabilities in both these areas have never been freakish. He just cannot achieve the standard required in those areas in AFL. BTW, I dont think Bell is lacking courage at all. I have seen him on a number of occasions go without fear. He just does not read the play and choose options well. He has had six years on the list and still has question marks on him.
  7. Bell has always had issues with decision making under pressure and his lack of peripheral vision has plagued him as a footballer all through his career. He is at the cross roads.
  8. I was going to say David Neitz but...... Has Robbo ever played with Sandy?
  9. We only know part of what happened. We dont know if he was intoxicated or missed a flight and also "had a few drinks". That phrase can mean many things to many people. And you are right we dont know if its training or another engagement. But regardless it is poor that he did not make it. Whether he fessed up or not to the drinking is not the issue. Its the fact that as part of the leadership group he was not there when required. I think Stigga makes a valid point on how people react and behave in the new culture.
  10. Agree Stigga. Firstly, we dont know exactly what Davey so I dont see the purpose of posters trying to 2nd guess what happened and judge the penalty. Also we are not sure exactly when the Club was told or found out about the incident. But if the rules that were applied by the leadership group at the start of the year and endorsed by the football department and applied to McLean, Sylvia and Carroll then I dont see why it should not be applied throughout the season. It is interesting that the penalty was applied by the players representatives and approved by the Footy department. In regard to claims of tanking, I think football club executives can take actions to tank and coaches take actions to tank but the players doing so? It would seem against the grain that the players would tank. Why would McLean come back and play last game with a ruptured ankle and then vote for the penalty. If the Club was going to tank it would be far simpler and less obvious to "rest" a player who may be carrying a niggle. I would hope that the consistency of the message coming through from now four incidents will instil in the young playing group that application, focus and discipline that are required at all times.
  11. I think you have made a fair summation of Nick Sautner and Michael Newton. Sautner has been around along time and is task master of the easy receive particularly within the goal square. You pinged it with Newton. Its not his ability but his commitment and intenisty that concerns many. Be that as it may, four goals from ordinary conditions is not a bad get in a losing side. It would appear that if he converted a couple of easy ones we would be crowing about his six goals. FWIW, I think at times he seems to lack the conviction and confidence to back his talent. Jakovich had the talent but also had a double serve of arrogance and belief.
  12. They were traded draft picks. They were not PSD. If he cant get a game in a bottom side and is culture sore there will be no Club chasing him. If we did not trade Jolly he would have walk to the PSD 12 months later and we would have got nothing. Woey was dissolving as a footballer and we made the right move. And TJ...well go figure. TJ would have no place to hide with DB. Bell wont pull more than a 3rd rounder. Carroll is finished. Newton's upside is great for MFC but he is a frustration. If we cant get a bigger input we should consider what we can get for him.
  13. I agree Nasher. Dunn will have first crack at Cooney. It will be a real test for Dunn. Cooney is class and will punish Dunn if he is not on his game. Good summary on Bruce.
  14. Brad Johnson will play forward for the Doggies. Whelan will struggle with BJ so I would play Bruce on him. Newton is still well short of a gallop and from all reports needs to sustain his application. He has the ability. Needs to back it up. I would play a fit (if fit) Junior in preference to Newton.
  15. Congratulations 45hotgod on a fantastic and energetic initiative. All the best with the night. I'll double the bid for the book to $60. I will PM you.
  16. Great stuff to all those involved in this worthy exercise. Well done. However, posters should ensure that their pledges/bids are definite, firm and not misleading to the process.Make sure when you bid you so in full bona fide spirit. This is for the benefit of the Club and hoax bids and their authors will not be tolerated and subject to the Code of Conduct.
  17. Nor do other Clubs. Generally the PSD has been a bit of hope and pray wasteland with little depth and a bit of punt for all.
  18. I would have thought a disguise as a urinal would eventually get Fev's attention.
  19. If you took into account a most uninspiring pre season with a number of players in rehab and would have started the season underdone of the back of a poor 2007 then it is indeed very strange.
  20. Thanks for taking my statement of context as it is was statement in reference to why I did not do an individual assessment of WB's spine at the start of the year So why dont you answer questions that are related to spine champ?
  21. Another example of your silly misrepresentation of other people's point of view. BTW, McLean has improved over the course of the year but he was ordinary in the first couple of rounds and he does lack pace. But he is our prime midfielder and better than the overall standard of the MFC midfield. But he is no star...yet. Because the spine includes the player/ players that plasy through the centre. Havent you noticed the interchange circus going on? To limit the spine to one player in the centre only is naive. I did not do them because I dont believe it is critical to make a specific measure of the spine to judge where a team will be going forward. As a team I expected WB to do far better than MFC. Where did I question your betting or did I say you rated them as the best team in the comp? I did not. Another case of misrepresenting my point of view. I took your statement that you rated them and not for their spine. I quote you On the back of that statement, then you must have rated the Bulldogs highly enough in other areas to justify your certainty to outlay money on them making the eight. And if you compared the WB to MFC especially given our atrocious pre season form running into the season then it should have given you fair and reasonable warning of where MFC was at?
