  1. He is starting on $400k for 4 years at Carlton. MFC would have to be paying big to top that over his career. He could still be No 1 ruckman at Carlton. Time will tell.
  2. That does not make him a super player. And your comment on MFC staff shows how uninformed you really are.
  3. Correct. Six ordinary trades across 16 clubs.
  4. Carlton want on field success. A fit Judd is a juggernaut for that. He is at the peak of his career. A player of Judd's capability is a one in 10 year opportunity. Brown is not and is heading toward the twilight of his career. MFC have history of attracting big names dating back to Tilbrook but they did not deliver on field success. We need to develop on field success and we will do that organically and not through a media quick fix appointment which dissolves in the same fate that great wonders like Templeton etc. Get it??? *Knock* * Knock*
  5. You trade to improve your list not attract sponsors. And you would have backed Macca's plan? I bet you would. Given you pillared Hansen as too old for a CHF position. Its no wonder Macca found himself on the outer with that deal. Maybe they recruited Chris Judd to play football. So on your own snivelling intelligence which player traded this week would have been a sponsorship coup? Its no wonder you get pantsed by various posters on this site for your silly and thoughtless comments.
  6. He just merely confirmed it. Only about six trades went through in total. One of those (Warnock was pre ordained). Hardly any of them substantial. Trade week is hugely overrated. Some posters like this thread's author get carried away with their trade fantasies and have no iota of knowledge of the process nor what actually went on.
  7. Chris Judd is a player and not a sponsor and if you check your facts or indeed actually get some you will find that MFC were never in the hunt for Judd and his tyre kicking was a front. He was going to Carlton all along and despite best efforts MFC were not a show. Come on name the sponsors that act on trade week Mo. Another case of put up and I bet you wont as usual. Is that a promise?
  8. The Hun is claiming that Green has re signed. Regardless of the outcome, I dont think Green is a front runner for the Captaincy
  9. Just a lesson, yet another one. Before you start putting trade picks you have to ascertain that the players concerned actually want to play for you. Neither Prismall nor Warnock wanted to play for MFC. Basic but you missed it nothing new. And I am not sure that either are proven players that I am going to shed to tears or offer very long contracts on big money. Anyway name the sponsors that cash their chips on trade week. Just another pathetic whinge without any substance.
  10. They should have gone out and done some riduculous trades for trades sake. We almost got Matera just like we almost got Warnock, Judd etc.
  11. Great thinking. They should have played tough and let Warnock go through to the PSD....and they would have got nothing. Brilliant. A ray of common sense in a very ordinary thread.
  12. Has he come out and said "I dont want to play with my brother"? No. He has said that he would prefer to play with football with Carlton. Its football not family. What do you mean he cant get to Carlton? At this stage he will nominate for the PSD on his expensive contract proposal and Carlton will be only party to deal with him. I cant see MFC blowing PSD 1 on a player with a 4 year 400k contract who apparently steadfastly refuses to play for it.
  13. It was a chance to offload a player who was surplus to their needs. At pick 31 you really dont know what you are going to be trawling for. I would suggest that the Ray deal is about "market" for him.
  14. Pants is right and your logic does not follow. Corrie went because someone was prepared to be speculative with him. I have not seen that with Carroll. And I would not rely on a vague one liner in the Hun.
  15. Spot on Pants. And HT raises good points about existing options we have. I am no fan of Corrie who just does not work hard defensively and goes missing when the heats on. He may have played 20 games this year (and some were very ordinary) but Brisbane must know something if they were prepared to offload him for nothing.
  16. Good point Shaft. There are two issues: 1. Providing a suitable pick to Freo above pick 24. 2. And more importantly getting Warnock to agree to terms with MFC. Are MFC prepared to pay $400k for 4 years? Will Warnock change his mind and moderate his demands? If the Freo/Warnock deal ends in stalemate, Warnock will go to the PSD and to the Club that is most prepared to pay $400k for 4years. And barring any interest from Rcihmond and Melbourne, Warnock is destined to go to Carlton for free (at Freo's loss).
  17. Lets avoid the hyperbole about Carroll's salary. Some weeks ago MFC were looking for ways to paying out his contract and removing him from the list. Whether his salary is $250k to $300k ...its not astronomical in AFL terms. His current contract was secured at the end of 2006 when we did not have other defensive options and Carroll had put in his best season. Its easy in hindsight to make harsh judgements. I would be happy if MFC did pay a fair slab of Carroll's final salary to get him off the list. I am not too perturbed about Carroll sparkling at another Club to our detriment because I dont think Carroll is capable of doing that and if he stayed at MFC, it would seem he has lost the confidence of the football department and burnt all his bridges and would be wallowing in the VFL.
  18. I'd pay the full amount! B) He could not be on that much.
  19. Unless we are prepared to pay him $400k over 4 years or another Club with a PSD pick before Carlton, then Carlton will get him for nothing. I am not sure MFC are prepared to do that and Carlton are in the box seat.
  20. Relax. Carroll is a fringe footballer at best with flaky decision making and an unnecessary short wick for the brawl. For the so called "blinders" he played at Sandy he also played some absolute shockers and lowered his colours to supposedly lesser opponents. BTW, his off field issues are not confined to off season issues at all. Sooner gone the better and more fool St Kilda. Gee with Cousins, Gardiner and Carroll, it will be party time again at the StK Social Club! FWIW, I would not read to much into the Hun's information until the deal is done: "St Kilda is believed to have shown interest in Melbourne bad boy Nathan Carroll." That could mean anything.
  21. Highly drafted means Adelaide got it wrong four years ago when they drafted him and experience does not come with 4 games in as many years. Beating Meesen is no scalp. That said I hope Spencer is that ruckman we so badly need and have not got.
  22. A touch of realism coming through BB. For whats being offered I'd rather keep Green. I know what I get with Green. Not a world beater but solid. Picks out past pick 25 are a lottery and I am not sure we enhance our draft position much in the process.
  23. Rivers and Buckley..... I dont think so. Garland might. But he is more potential to us than trading for pick 26 for example. I think Garland could be very good for us and I dont think the rest of the market realises that. Meesen got pick 37 so a third round pick is about what you could expect for Jamar. Unless we have a better replacement, I cringe to think we could have our rucking in the hands of PJ and *gulp* Meesen.
  24. I think MFC will be doing everything in its power to get the best deal possible. But it has to be smart about it.
