  1. He firstly has to want leave Carlton. Oh but we are a sad and sorry lost aren't we?
  2. More the truth, how would any supporter have any idea how a midfield coach is actually performing? FWIW, Williams may or may not be a good coach. However, it has to be recognised that there has been a significant lack of talent and experience within our midfield. Our lack of real quality in the midfield and a generally underperforming ruck puts you on a hiding to nothing. Also, in his year at MFC, Ratten had White as an AA ruckman and he had probably the best midfielder we have had in the past 6 to 8 years in Scott Thompson in the centre as first dibs possession winner. Makes any monkey look good. However, I think it was inevitable that Williams was on thin ice given he was the last of the ND era in the coaching panel and 2008 was the last year on his contract. Bailey and CC can now find there own appointee.
  3. If the Club had a quick chat with his Manager I am sure they could ascertain whether he is considering leaving Carlton. I doubt he will leave Carlton.
  4. I have been to the GP a couple of times with friends and none of us have not gone for the whole day. Quite the opposite. Never pays to generalise. Not every spectator is a octane sniffing bogan at GP. I just wonder how many bogans, I mean spectators we will lose from a game that does not draw big numbers. Not even a storm in a teacup.
  5. Where did Cox get WCE? You need a ruckman who can be competitive against other ruckman to at least allow your better (ahem) midfield to win more possession. You are right though with the change in the rules and the nature of the game, ruckman dont a pronounced effect on a game like they used to. My concern is ours dont have any.
  6. Some will, some won't. Let the choice be theirs. Better warn the Administrators!
  7. Are they interested? For the record, the so called family club is doing some greater things with their poker machines and now promoting betfair. Lucky they have Jeff Kennett's connections at Beyond blue to pick up the pieces that gambling leaves.
  8. Completely agree. I'd be surprised if there were significant numbers dragged from MFC vs NM anyway.
  9. Firstly, Jamar nullified Hille in Round 18 and thats the sort of upside I would expect from Jamar. I have seen some earnest blanket jobs from Jamar last year but ge Jamar and PJ are 25/26. Neither are sort after by any Club. Warnock is 21 with 3 seasons and 20 games and a number of Clubs scratching after him. He is on the ascendancy while our two players are as good as they will ever get as ruckman. However even at this early stage, Freo have had a wonderful luxury of Warnock being back up to Sandilands. Its a pity it all breaks down for them after that (bar Pavlich).
  10. They have two spinners. We have none. Its like swimming at the Olympics without goggles. On a hiding to nothing. Some of our batsman have not performed well at all. Lee is lacklustre.
  11. Biff made up with guts and heart and left nothing in reserve what he did not have in ability. Honest but not in Buddy's class. Biff played some good games but he also put in some ordinary ones (eg McKenna kicked 10 on him one time). Best memory versus St Kilda when he was moved from FB to FF and as he walked down toward the MFC goals after the coin toss, Cowboy Neale got the biggest shock of his life and thought he was heading to the wrong goal. Two great stagers put on an engrossing exhibition at one of the ground that justified the admission price in itself. I seem to recall Biff started as a forward in the U19s.
  12. Absolutely spot on. Jamar is bog ordinary and PJ is not good enough to usurp him. Its embarrassing. A bad case of overrating our C graders again. FWIW, Minson, Ottens/Blake (either), Fraser, Warnock are well in front.
  13. The fact is neither team do draw crowds...period. And I hope it is a North home game. For the AFL at best the game would pull 25,000 without distractions. They would prefer to "sacrifice" a few at low drawing game than a few more between one or two higher drawing clubs. Cant stand the Grand Prix either.
  14. The famous Kennedy family in the US are cursed accroding to the media. Everytime one of them dies the media says See the curse continues. <_< Your post 45 has the same ring to it. Smith's departure was just a part of the tragedy that unfolded in the 1960s.
  15. So what are the options given the state of list to do otherwise?
  16. When I see "bleeds for jumper" or "bleeds for the red and blue" in deference to one player over another its a sign to switch off comment. Its tripe. FWIW, I have seen Brock, Green, Moloney and Macca play some good games. I have also seen them play some shockers where they have not put and the coaching staff has picked them up for it. Its Juniors last year and if 2008 was anything to go by, he gave his all but he is struggling to hold his own. No Captaincy. Moloney has missed so much football through injury and his year last year was patchy. Lets see him make it as a player. Its leaves Green or McLean. IMO its McLean by a smidge and Brock has alot to prove in the role as a player and leader. Green frm all reports is a great guy but not a leader amongst the players.
  17. I could not give a toss about the outside world. MFC should picked the best leader..period.
  18. Funny you went from talking about next year to the last 40 years. We are going to have to develop the current list and it will take time. We cant afford not to do it and do it properly. We then have to improve our capabilities off the field to ensure any success we have is real and enduring. The AFL are effectively "managing" Clubs like Kangaroos, Western Bulldogs and MFC. They have all the leverage currently to do it. They are not.
  19. Rubbish. Given the state of the list, we might have to endure another tough year as our youth develops. Hawthorn were almost broke a couple of times over the past 10 years. The success you talk about was gathering dust on the shelf not interest in the bank. I do agree we must aim to do better but we should also be realistic where our list is and where the improvement comes from and how long that will take to develop it.
  20. You are wrong. You make it sound like a choice. It is not. All Clubs will go through a phase of bottoming out at some stage as a natural outcome of the draft and salary cap as their list matures and their stars fade and retire. All Clubs will go through a bottoming out process at some stage. The issue is to manage the process and to prepare and maximise the talent you can take on the list.
  21. I'd rather see actions on the field from last year. No one is saying Bailey has been exemplary. However most supporters realise the poisoned chalice he inherited last year. Your pathological attacks on him are boring and if anything highlight your shortcomings not Bailey's And on such a woodduck station like SEN you are hardly going to get anything but the standard cliches. Roos and Matthews are two of most experienced and smarter media operators. Neither have had to coach a Club and list in the condition MFC is in. Bailey has been an AFL Coach for just over 12 months. A self serving comparison at best. Spot on.
  22. He is a fringe ordinary player regardless of whether he is hard or soft. I am not sure why when we have a surplus of C grade and D grade footballers on our list why the hell we would add another one. We should be trying to improve our list and I dont see what Houlihan gives us. At the moment his supporters have rated him an outside receiver who is a good kick with questionable physical skills. At best he is an extremely poor man's Yze (in his latter years) and we need that sort of player like a salary cap breach. And regardless of how bad MFC's list is, there are actually crap players at other Clubs. I dont see why they should be recognised as otherwise. If MFC are to be successful in the future then many our current list and many of the definite NQRs being put forward are not part of that future. Houlihan definitely isn't.
  23. If he barracked for Melbourne when he was young we should get him. Maybe we should see if he has a talented brother. Just joking.....PASS PASS
