  1. That will show'em. Well done. Just what the Club needs. Lead the way. Firstly, Newton and Bell have contracts. Secondly, Miller might not last either. Thirdly, MFC did not sack any players. It chose not to extend their contracts. Whelan and Wheatley have announced their retirement. Robbo wants to chance his arm again fine. Fourthly, rpfc and BRFE have correctly assessed the situation. Fifthly, take a Bex lie down, relax, ring the Club on Monday and sign up again.
  2. Unfortunately its one or two proponents of the ugly parent/family member syndrome that wrecks it for everyone else. Its a function of some of the problems within our society. I feel for suburban football leagues who are doing so much particularly at junior level to make the experience a safe, rewarding, character building arrangement for all members of the family. But it takes 1 or 2 goons.........
  3. Agree. Also when people reply to a post and copy the whole long post when they are not even respond to that point. Put .... in the box instead of repeating slabs of another posters work. Makes it easier to read. Its alot safer going to the footy now then when it was played at some of those slagheap suburban grounds in the 60s70s and 80s. AFL is also safer game on the field with less on field thuggery. Its quite a contrast to the seemingly more violent world we live in.
  4. The most sensible summation of the situation so far. I am surprised by the antipathy toward Junior and the underestimation of what he brings to the Club and the players. Together with Neitz, Junior would have to be one of great unsung heroes of this Club over the past 10 years. 2 Blueys, 233 games and countless times Junior is the often the one and only MFC player at the bottom of packs contesting the hard pill. From the 1996 rookie draft to the Captaincy, I dont think there is a player that typifies the true concept of leadership on and off the ground at MFC more than Junior. Its not about whether he will be around for our next flag and its certainly not about any misconceived luxury of playing out your career at one Club. Its what Junior brings to a Club and a young list where true leaders have been scarce in a young inexperienced list and the future leaders need appropriate mnetoring and guidance on the long road to success down the track. He needs to justify his spot in the side as a player and next year it will be in a defensive role. And as BRFE says if he ends up at Casey he will be a marvellous mentor for our young players. When he does hang up his boots I hope he gets all the accolades that he deserves for an outstanding selfless contribution over many years.
  5. Agree. I cant believe anyone can think we can go into next year with two chronically injured rucks and one player that cant ruck. The big picture is 5 to 6 will go to accommodate pick 1,2,18, 34 and elevation of Spencer and the McKenzie/Valenti. We have three players retiring at year end we need to find 3 more players to go. 40 supporters ralise that he is contracted and wont get a trade. The ejection of Bruce is amazing. Given we have lost so much experience we will trade our reigning B& F winner who might easily win it again this year. Any chance of a plausible trade deal. Laughable.
  6. Fair summary. I think the time line is pretty good. I would have though 6 to 8 wins next year but its mincing words. I would not be unhappy if MFC had a Hawthorn like aberration!! I trust supporters are not expecting a Phoenix like recovery next year. With the retirements to date expected, it will be a younger team next year still on a steep learning curve.
  7. Sub editors error Antony. Robbo's entitled to his opinion and we are entitled to our opinions. I dont agree with his opinion in particular to depression and some of the actions associated by it. He should leave such assessments to the experts. I agree with Bub and others if the comments are not libellous and focus on their performance as a Club representative then that's fair enough. If you operate in the public arena there are all forms of public scrutiny and accountability. The internet is one such medium.
  8. I agree with those observations of Old and others. I have not always been enamored with some of your games at times but over the course of 10+ years its a great story. A great career and hard player for oppositions to cover at his best. Hold your head up high for what you have done from being a rookie in Tassie.
  9. Agree with that. But there interstate calls with WA and SA commentators is just woeful and one eyed. Worse than when 3GL only did Geelong games. Melbourne always used to get 3UZ with Don Hyde and 3DB where the races interrupted the coverge particularly in the last quarter when they playted the last race from everywhere in Australia! Never liked Harry Beitzel's arrogance at 3AW. Got his come uppance selling dodgy investment schemes that he did not understand to lotto winners. Preferred the Captain and Major on 3KZ. VFA with Phil Gibbs, Craig Kelly when you had Frosty Miller, Eddie Melai and Lyle Hendricksen at Shepley oval. Dandenong were almost Melbourne on a Sunday! Just saw your earlier post WYL on 3UZ.
  10. One is not bad (Bate). The other two have ??? about them
  11. Thanks for the information. Sorry to hear about his father. http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0...5016169,00.html From when I have seen him in the AFL/VFL, he looks silky with his skills but he did not show the attitude and commitment for the contest this year. I trust he can get it right on and off the field. He seemed to be highly rated for his skills last year.
  12. Both choices you compare are 4th round picks. Its the speculative end of the draft with no certainty what your trawling until you have to use the pick. At that stage of the draft you sticks your hand in the lucky dip barrel and you take a punt. As you pointed out you dont have to nominate a draft pick to elevate a rookie. On that basis pick 34 should be our last pick used.
  13. Hawtorn would be stoopid to take that deal... They get an injury prone ruckman to match another injury prone ruckman and a full back that has a year or left and they give up pick 6 or 7. Hawthorm would be absolute nuts to do that. And MFC would have 3 ruckman left all with big question marks on them.
  14. Double Oops! :D Must have been the collision of the capital D's in the names. Mea culpa
  15. Cripes! Are you sure you are not one and the same?? Just kidding. Move forward with your grand design then.
  16. Shane Valenti??? Seriously you might be right. It could also be smokescreen to see what gets thrown up without being serious. eg McIntosh at NM last year.
  17. Um, how many indigenous players do you have in the side, Junior? B)
  18. Do you need to use picks 50 and 66 for potential rookie elevation?
  19. Or your ignorance. B) Lucas has been a good player over the course of his career with a Premiership, 270 games and 471 goals over 15 years. 2nd highest number of games for Essendon after Fletcher. He has had a great career record. Heavens above many on here want to canonise Robbo! I dont mind the accolades credited to a retiring player of that stature. I take them with a grain of salt. Got any serious issues?
  20. We played them in Round 10 on the GC but its surprising they had not played at the G this year. However they are not pack of GC first years and I cant see that issue causing them to fall over. Unless Noah has to build an Ark I cant see the weather helping us. We are talking St Kilda and not Freo.
  21. Well Freak would get rid of a player who is 192cm tall and cant kick.
  22. Replace the Carlton players and put in the name of the best 6 at St Kilda and dont tag them. Oops. Sorry. Even so I dont know why you wouldn't play them. Our best is still below St Kilda's worst by a distance.
  23. So you are not going to elevate any rookies then? Splitting hairs without information.
