  1. Which people are they? Your choices are not the one's realistically given by others but rather self serving.
  2. Its not a matter of directing the cheque book. As shown with R Warnock we are not going to enter a bidding war to pay over the odds for a unproven footballer and throw out the contractual relativities of othe MFC players. Ladder position is only one issue detracting from MFC attracting top players. Mind you I cant think of one top player who has publicly rejected MFC. Dont give me Judd because he was always going to Carlton. Warnock chased the dollar and we werent going to match. And Prismall is hardly giving me regrets at going elsewhere. Given we are likely to go 2 mids with picks 1 and 2, i dont thikn they will chase a mid. You wonder about Press articles on player movements. I think most are plants by player/managers to create interest where there is none. There has been enough said on Peake. Pass
  3. How do you know he is over it with such a chequered fitness history beyond "you hope"? Not a strong argument to suggest not trading him.
  4. You're more an innocuous example of what I thinking.
  5. I would have thought you were last one to bandy about that accusation Dappa. In the post you quoted, I didn't. Something troubling on the home front? Regardless, the nature of forums and e-mail is a rather blunt tool and emoticons can break down the bluntness. If you dont like it...well....
  6. I believe so. Sam Lane was talking about it on 774 on Sunday and how embarrassing it was. It was also mention that section of the Gabba ground infested with Blues supporters could be heard singing Lily of the Laguna in the last quarter. Beautiful. Their unbridled arrogance remind me of the Carlton supporters I was surrounded by in the QF 2000. Derisive and disrespectful in theier slurring of MFC players (eg weak) and the Club (eg salary cheats). Oh how the wheel turned!
  7. Great highlights. He was a sensational player prior to the knee injuries. He showed great character to come back from such adversity and win a Bluey in 1999. Twelve months later his body began to give on him and you could see his on field frustation as he increasingly struggled with the tempo of the game in his final 12 months.
  8. Dawson was not a trade but a rookie draft pick up by St Kilda. I think there is a difference trading something for someone and picking up the player for free. At pick 83 in LY's draft it would have taken something significant for him to get a game.
  9. Exactly. Though Digga wont understand it.
  10. He was pick 66 in the 2007 draft and was selected by MFC at a time when other Clubs were saying "PASS" on their fifth round pick. Its called have a last spot punt in the draft. Most dont work. TMac is another example. I reckon he will be cut and at best given a rookie spot.
  11. There are two issues here. The first is what you could you could get for him and what you could you use the pick on. No one will deny that first round picks used for Bell and Dunn have not been successes but that does not discount the good sense of the trade that brought them to us. Both Woey and Jolly were trades done at the right time based on the information the Club had at the time. If you that spooked on the use of draft picks, maybe we should pass on picks 1 and 2 because you never know The reason you trade is that you seek to better your list by ideally trading what you have potentially surplus of. Its already been clearly covered why Rivers name has come up. Why you have suggest trading players in the forward line when we one have a shortage of talent up there and neither player is likley to garner signinficant interest only suggests you dont understand list management or the concepts of trading. Rogue and rpfc are on the right track with this.
  12. I bet the AFL let it slide. It would do them no PR benefits if a marquee player with B'low prospects were rubbed out eye gouging. I think the match review committee should definitely look at. I dont the impact of the contact is relevant. Its a no go zone and he had no need to do that.
  13. Freo are prepared to let go of him and WCE wont touch him. I dont see either PA or the Crows. He is a middle range footballer with flaky skills. Dont overgloss it. You will no doubt miss the irony of your swipe at others.
  14. The evidence from the other angle is damning. He had no need to have his hand near Judd's face. On the other hand, Andy Maher singing the Carlton song in the 3rd qyr just typifies the malignant culture at CFC.
  15. He cant kick.....Having someone who can turn the ball over certaintly fast tracks results. We have enough of those.
  16. We have got so few ruckman on the list. Meesen is a ?. PJ is a gone at the end of next year and Spencer is raw. This year showed that having only 4 rucks on the list can leave you short particularly when two are injury prone. Why would you trade your No 1 ruckman (Jamar) when you are short ruckman? Bizarre
  17. Ferg played another 2 years at MFC after the aborted trade. You could have played Ferg at MU at his best and he would still be bog ordinary.
  18. Why would you trade one fundamentally flawed player for another? Trade for trade's sake.
  19. Yes, We should trade for every other Club reject. They might be handy...who knows when. BTW, doesn't Newton have a distant 3rd cousin twice removed who lives in Lorne? Definite Geelong connection there.
  20. Agree. Comments like "worth a punt". "Good for depth" "Good type to have" make me cringe. For some, list management and trading has not evolved much from the blindfold and a pin with a tail on it.
  21. I dont like Carlton and happy with the result. Carlton have made the finals this year and are on target to potentially challenge in 2 to 3 years time. They have a few holes to fill in the their side though. And a couple of crucial LT injuries did not help them
