  1. Crap. It all started with RDB going to Carlton in 1960 before the exsting franchise monsters came in. And as usual you missed the posters valid point Loyalty is most misused term by posters for their own ends He wont get "top coin" if he goes to GC and he wont get "top coin" at MFC if he stays when his contract expires.
  2. You've got it completely wrong. He spoke of each element in the next month being important. There was no indication of Essendon taking this game as a gimme particularly given their recent form. And a game at AAMI is never ever a gimmme. He gave the impression that he was priming his players for a big effort in Adelaide. And they squibbed it. Ultimately the performance of the team comes down to the Coach. But the players cant be excused. We are a chance to win. But it depends on alot of things include both MFCs and Bombers attitude on the game
  3. If we are using Spencer for that reason then someone in MFC football dept needs the chop themselves. I trust this is not the case.
  4. Neither Wonna nor Strauss were fighting for the same roles as Blease and Tapscott. All four could presumably play within the MFC VFL limit of 12 players. Atm the moment Blease and Tapscott are just finding their feet. Numbers in the team were not holding them back. Their relative match fitness was.
  5. Both of Strauss injuries have been contact as far as I am aware. Wonna's last injury ...shoulder is a contact injury. Without elevations onto the main list we need to cut minimum 3 from the list. Do you reckon they might rookie Wonna at year end?
  6. I didnt realise Wonna and Strauss were holding Blease and Tapscott back. Hang on they aren't. Any chance Blease and Tapscott are coming off LT injuries and are just getting match fit and would have got a game in Casey seniors depending on fitness regardless of Wonna and Strauss?
  7. I dont think I meant it that way. Knights made some grand statements of the importance of the next 4 weeks. They fell badly at the first hurdle. If they fall again they will have the blow torch on them internally and externally for not standing up towards the business end of the season. My comment on their possible rebound is not to think they will be easy touch. If we are on our game we should be able to account for Essendon even if Essendon go hard for 4 quarters. But its the "if" word..... Its also a good chance for us to overcome the slow starts.
  8. This game should be a real test of our slow starts this year. Knights was talking up Essendon's important month starting with the Adelaide game. They squibbed it. I would have thought he would have been stinging them hard this week. He would be telling them we start slowly so he will have them primed for a rebound. No easy game at all for MFC. (Alternatively, Essendon could roll over and play dead 2 weeks in row then the heats on them B))
  9. Agree entirely and Shannon Motlop has a medal as well.
  10. Agree. Tick tick. Its Rd 15 and TMac has not been visible this year The likely outs at this stage are: Grimes (injury), Cheney (MR susp) Jetta. Ins: Sylvia, Bail and Jurrah
  11. Balloon has popped on Nik Nat. Could still be a good player for many years. But not the superstar the Press were hung on.
  12. I am well aware of what a contract is and what it isn't. The FACT is neither you nor any other poster knows the current disposition of the discussions between the Club and the Vineys. He may well (and I hope) come to MFC but I dont start spouting speculation as FACTS. How do you know that a contract is in place? Todd and Jack met with the Club last week. Great. What was agreed at the meeting? You dont know. It may have been a discussion without any contractual intentions at this point. And your example of the doctor is a poor one. When you go to a doctor you go for services rendered and from the terms listed in the waiting room. Alternatively how did Jack V go in his check up? Did you he get a presciption for his ailment? B) vitiate?? uh oh - To impair or invalidate in part or in full; make void or voidable. So is that any other contract other than a written one? Seems logical if they are talking about transparency. JV options look clear depending on what year he nominates for the draft
  13. Garbage. Are you a bush lawyer? How have they got a contract between the parties based on discussions? What has been agreed? How do you prove the terms are contractual? No its not a fact. But I am glad you're convinced. Its prove positive for some. Gotta a source for your understanding? Jack is 16yo and its logical and reasonable that his father Tood represent him. No Agreement has been reached from discussions so far. While the poster is pretty sure he does not actually know what Todd's and Jack;s intentions are. Nothing startling or unusual with Wchilds summary and there is no contract yet.... So much for the FACT.
  14. Teams make mistakes whether they are top teams or bottom teams. Mistakes are not just the domain of the bottom 12 clubs. Top teams do it and often do it in September. Most of the goals of the top 4 teams comes from a combination of great football (when pushed by a willing opponent) and the ability to pressure lesser teams to turn the ball over and capitalise on the error. Geelong, St Kilda and Collingwood all do this and often win games without having to demonstrably great football. High football IQ??? Its about being capable, talent, disciplined and experienced. MFC are trying to settle and develop those that can do those sort of traits and demonstrate them consistently.
  15. While we have alot of room for improvement, we have had three games where we have missed out on the win at the last gasp. The way the ladder is you could basically put the bottom 8 (arguably 9) in the same bucket. Had we taken the additional 4 points against either the Pies or Dogs we would be on 22 points and sitting 10th and posters would be naively talking about number of wins for the finals. And I would still rather be in our shoes than in any other side position in the bottom 8. Keep the strength.
  16. Athleticism yes, Ability Hmmm! He is still very raw.. Ability wise there have been a number of players better.
  17. More havent. And being on the rookie list is far cry from the potential reflected in the AA side. No shoo in of stardom I thought Freak made a valid point on Panos. Hardly worth the "goose" call
  18. I cant think of a "nutcase" that has fulfilled that role. Geelong had Ablett senior and missed on 4 GFs. So for the kid kicked out of school you might want to work what his problem before saying his issues dont matter.
  19. The second sentence gives fair indication of the first. B) Never let the actual facts get in the way of bull.... Thanks Melon and others for the updates. Well done. Good news on Jurrah, Sylvia, Bail, Morton and Newton. Some good comments on Blease in the 2nds.
  20. Well then since Jeff White we really havent targetted a player of that ilk and we were never in the hunt for Judd. Hawthorn are in premiership mode. Why would they give up Roughhead for an unknown youngster who may take years to make it in AFL and a pedestrian limited defender? They give up alot while in their window of opportunity and get uncertainty and the ordinary. The Hawks would be daft to do it and they wont. Oh and I am qualified to say this because its my opinion just like you are qualified for yours. But its a one sided stinker of a deal that always typically favours MFC and treats the other side like trumps. If the Hawks are going to give up a Premiership forward who is still important to them they will want a class KPB who is ready to go when they are. I believe its Frawley.
  21. The only realistic trade scenario I have seen that reflects what MFC want and the Hawks would want. Its no deal and I wouldnt do it. The only realistic deal of what MFC want/ Hawks want wont happen. And anyone think Rivers spices up a trade deal with a draft pick is dreaming. He is a limited defender with poor trade currency. No. Injuries are just part of the problem with Thorp.
  22. Geez any chance of making the deal worthwhile for the Hawks? Which player would you throw in? Why would they want to trade a player who is critical to their aspirations for a draft pick and what a second tier player. Our trading in recent years.... TJ for pick 16 ----> Grimes Brock for pick 12-----> Gysberts Some shite that is. We woukd have taken Ball through PSD but he did not want to go to MFC end of story. And apparent success is no basis with late picks to trade your first round pick in future years.
  23. I havev heard similar tales of Carey from ex players. Its a pity that some of the key support mechanicisms in his early years did not provide Carey with the tools to cope. The Ox had similar challenges with destructive behaviour but has literally had to face his own demons. He burnt alot of bridges along the way Ox but I admire him for the way he has got things back on track. Good on him.
