  1. Check your post at 7.08pm. Any chance any of the trades would be worthwhile for the other side? They are great for MFC but howlers for other clubs. You might not like the opposition but they are not that stupid. Miller for pick 28? Sheesh.
  2. Meesen and Newton are rookies. And are you sure Meesen will be out for 4 years and back in 2012? Remarkable. Cheney contracted in 2011.
  3. Unless we cut PJ, he is finished. I think he is finished. He will grace Casey for the rest of the season then be delisted off the rookie list unless he want to play for a pittance for another year or two. Nah, MFC will cut him. Any chance of Bate actually starring at Casey to earn a spot?? Hmmm
  4. I actually prefer yours. I am sus on Myke Cook. Myke?? Only if Hawthorn or Richmond did it UGH!! No make that a double!! We are not a repat hospital FCS. The story of his coaching was hearsay from a poster who has no valid evidence of his success. I found hard to believe that a ruckman who at times could not win a tap in a shower in the VFL is coaching AFL. His situation makes Garland's trouble seem like overnight bruising. His chronic crock who is earning an AFL player's salary on the rookie list. Its seems you cant stomach a hard decision when it comes to players.
  5. Check the odds of success Eth38 and see how many pick 50s make it?? Hmmm But which club in the VFL? Seriously deluded.
  6. No it was pick 38. And Adelaide selected Myke Cook. Who would spell it with a "y"? Not a big loss for us. Meesen had a 3 year deal with MFC which expires this year.
  7. The mature bodies of Hawthorn are around 26 to 29 years old and not 34 going on 35. Junior was out there on Saturday. I am not sure he added much on Saturday. Love the guy to bits but I would hate to see him struggle for a spot in the side. I think he will know and make the right decision with the Club. Cousins was having a good season too....
  8. As much I love Jordie, he aint going to win it unless: 1. MFC wins 2. Jordie has a blinder and actually kicks 3 to 4 goals. A TV highlight speccy would help. 3. And no other eligible player plays the game of their lives.
  9. Thanks Demon Dave for that. I think I can recall the issue of delaying play to bring out a stretcher.
  10. No its been like that throughout his career. http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/players/M/Mark_Jamar.html He currently has a conversion rate of 74.1% which is outstanding kicking. When compared to other forwards who have had more than 50 scoring shots at goal, he is 2nd on the all time list of goalkickers (1987 to 2010). http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/accuracy.html Posters can deride it or nit pick it anyway they like but its a sensational strikerate accumulated over a number of years.
  11. While someone can clarify, if a player is taken from the ground on a stretcher then that player can or cannot return to the field of play? When Davey was taken from the ground it was not known if there were broken bones. 3AW thought they were working on his calf on the sidelines when he came off.
  12. I am not sure Cheney or Miller are any closer either. Our defence was good on the weekend why would you weaken it?
  13. What sort of player do you suspect we would get for pick 50 given where our list is? If its a gem (read: = Rohan Bail) then maybe. But you really are getting down to the punting region of the list. Given Gawn is still 2 to 3 years away from being AFL ready and PJ is suspect, I would elevate Spencer. Why would GC17 have to offer anything for Miller when he is OOC? My mail is that if Miller is not getting another MFC contract he will seek a contract to play VFL next year. He and his family are settled in Melbourne and they dont want to move. I know money can change minds but GC17 would be unlikely to do that. Cheney does not have trade value and at best you get pick 50 or so. Junior's decision should be the Club's and Junior. I dont think Junior would put himself in front of the Club's interests. His injury situation was interesting. At 34, the body starts sending messages which the person may not want to hear. Martin, is he contracted next year?? If so, then the Club may release PJ but I am not so sure. Lack of options on the list and Jamar insurance is PJ's only saving grace. He was gone the year he started at MFC. The only thing worse than some of Meesen's games is his chronic injuries. Fit or not, underwhelming at best.
  14. Injuries to Jurrah, Petterd, Wonna, Grimes and Sylvia have hurt us. Martin, Gawn and Meesen were neither here nor there. I seriously doubt it. I doubt they could atm as he is going for X-rays today on his leg (fibula)
  15. While Jurrah is 3 years older, he has not been developed within traditional junior football ranks. Barlow was raised within the Victorian football system Given his background and his lack of natural assimilation and familarity with city life and AFL footballer, its reasonable to compare him to a 17/18 year old. He's 21 but he is raw.
  16. Well put Red. The future is indeed looking good. Well done. Missed the point completely. It isn't reality. Thanks for the cop out. Any chance you focussed on the clearances and the stoppages and who won them???
  17. The Hawks aren't a top 4 side. On current form at the business end of the season MFC would not get close to a Collingwood, Geelong or St Kilda atm. We are 2 to 3 years away from top 4.
  18. Right. He has been shoved to the rookie list and has not played senior football for 18 months and we are still paying him contractual wages. I guess its better than having him clean the boots of the players while we pay him. And I am not sure how you assess that he is doing a good job. I would not put Jamar's great year to him. Jamar just needed fitness to back up his good games last year. PJ and Spencer really have not progressed. And Fitz and Gawn are too raw. His contract is up at the end of October. He will be gone. There must be better options out
  19. Not finding cheap mindless excuses. The umpiring is never good. We were beaten by a stronger more experienced side on the day. I trust you did not miss that.
  20. 6. Colin Sylvia 5. Cameron Bruce 4. James Frawley 3. Rohan Bail 2. James McDonald 1. Mark Jamar
  21. That's better. You can forget the rest of the venting. Blaming the umpires is a cop out.
  22. He must have a read up a bit on rucking because he was ordinary at MFC and has little experience in the top level. A bizarre choice indeed.
  23. Agree. Miller is only chosen if he meets the best side criteria.
  24. Absolutely agree. A lightweight and incorrect excuse for a loss. Its even worse if you were there and you blame the umpires. Think about how the top teams do it.
  25. He is contracted for one more year. And he cant just walk out on the Club and go into the PSD if he is contracted to MFC. For what? Got a price for him and who would pay? We would be more likely to give Nathan Carroll another year. No chance whatsoever for Meesen. Just ridiculous.
