Would seem that there are expectations for some and other expectations for others.

Reckon Viv is stiff. 17 touches at DE of 88% (best). The most disposals 21. Ran with Fyfe for two quarters and whilst beaten provided contest. Certainly was not the worst out there last week by a long shot. His game the week before was exceptional. Think giving a bloke 2 games, one against the best in the competition is pretty poor.

Left out Tammy. I am told she gets $200k. Dawes said she was the main reason he came to MFC.
-
From Inside Footy player ratings. Reckon 5 is a bit generous for some.

You watched a different game to me.

This is meaningful analysis and realistic evaluation of where we are at. I think our real benchmarks are the likes of the doggies. I think their victories over both Adelaide and Sydney were greatly assisted by the weather. The dogs have players better suite to the wet. I think MFC also have better wet weather players and little reliance on big marking forwards. Reading the training threads I think the concentration on ball movement is designed to exploit this and make up for the lack of buddy tippet etc type forwards. We could have done better in the rucking dept this week, seemed to me we ceded the tap to advantage and did not try any options.

This point seems to have been missed when posters are denigrating the mids. My biggest disappointment from the game was there was no attempt at 3rd man up. Just watched the Dogs v Sydney. Lin Jong got more hit outs than Cordy by being 3rd man up. Gave the Dogs a chance and broke the Swans set plays.

Has not played a game at this level. History has plenty of high draft picks not living up to expectations. I for one would like to see him lay a few games before hanging the "great hope" tag on him.
-
His kicking is deplorable. Has all the attributes except kicking skills and turned it over quite a bit today. Thought we looked slow and there was a lack of accountability. No one wanted to pick up Fyfe.

So is my over 50 vets team.

Sorry should have been on the Jesse Hogan thread

WTF? What sort of country would we be in if they can't.

I would feel more empathy for Clarko if he did not have form for the very same thing. Remember he started a blue at an under 10 or 12s game by badgering an umpire who was quite young. Whilst they are trying to downplay the reaction it was a roundhouse punch. In thugby they call it a swinging arm tackle and we would probably call it a coathanger. Clarkson has a real anger problem. I cannot imagine any other coach reacting the same way to the Fwits (okay maybe the Scott Bros or Lyon who apparently gets annoyed by having his photo taken from a distance). I cannot see Roos, Buckley or any of the others belting somebody for being taunted. He should catch the train home from Collingwood games and see what its really like to be harassed. As for the F'wits the cops should charge them with wasting their time and give them a kick up the backside, which their parents obviously did not do. (oooh the old codger in me just came out).

When he does a hammy he does a hammy good.

I hope they study the Dogs v Crows game. The Dogs got absolutely belted in the ruck but they had an obvious plan that negated this dominance. Third man up in the stoppages seemed to be part of it. These 3rd up players got more hitouts than Cordy.

Think you have something there but to be honest our Mids were off that day, particularly Jones. I think as evidenced on Friday they are going much better, Jones has had his one bad game for the year and the rest were pretty good. Want to be biased a bit but Viv added some grunt and his game in the NAB cup against the Dockers was pretty good as you would expect from a team he knows better than his own. If he gets a full game he will be an even better in. Still astounded that from half a game on Friday he got 5 less disposals than our top (Jones) he had the equal most I50s (Jones) and a quarter of the goal assists, From the replay he passed the ball to 4 players who score but I don't know the definition of a goal assist. He does it without standing out which I like cause he sneaks up on opponents.

I know where you are coming from but I think the difference this season will be that whilst we are most likely to be beaten in the next 3 rounds we will be competitive. Tiny steps. I don't like the term honorable losses, that is what I am hoping for in these games (bit like the Adelaide game where with a bit of luck we could have won). Past seasons would have seen us smashed and dispatched without a whimper. I am hoping that this year we will be up there with them even if we lose. But then I think of the GWS game this year and get worried because the next three teams will beat Great Waste of Space.

My first thought as well but given it was the Murdoch rag that announced it I doubt it was Robbo. More likely Caro. (Just kidding).

Michie has a corked hip he copped about 10 minutes before the end. He played pretty much the entire last two quarters with no rotation. He will be fine.
-
Might have to rethink the Dogs. Watching them now giving Adelaide a hard time.

Gold Coast and Richmond.

Corked hip. Will be fine. He finished out the game. He was knackered at the end because he had not been off the ground for the lat quarter and a half. Ran himself into the ground.
