  1. I can see him landing at the cheats next year. I wonder if those on here defending his behavior would be happy if the Dees were talking to him after this has surfaced. Not really team first stuff.
  2. It was retired from 87 and given to Stinga in 92.
  3. Yeah Sue I’m not surmising. I was told by someone who would know.
  4. I was told by someone who would know.
  5. Most of the team was unwell on Saturday night. Explains why they were run over in the 2nd half.
  6. I cant see the NBL holding the whip hand in a television rights negotiation any time soon, if ever. Its a completely different discussion. I''m not sure how we got to this but my point is I just cannot see how the AFL can possibly penetrate the rugby strong hold in western Sydney. There might be market share there but that''s irrelevant if the public don't understand your product. My original post was in response to what the answer is with the Giants is and I dont think there is one.
  7. Im not aware of the why the Northern states played Rugby and not Australian rules. I dont think soccer or basketball are that popular in this country. Im sure they don't see themselves Ʃver trying to compete with Australian rules like the AFL is trying to do in rugby heartland.
  8. Expansion clubs in non AFL territories cannot hold onto players. Tom Lynch did not want to play in front of 5000 people but rather 75,000. So we had a situation where the best player in the weakest team walks to strongest team at the time. You can give them all the concessions in the world but if every year they are going to the draft to pick players who will request a trade while in their prime it’s never going to work. This is not like the US where every school and college in every state play American football. Trying to grow a sport in a geographic where it is not part of the culture is unique to this country. I can’t think of another example. I don’t think there is an answer.
  9. That Hobart waterfront is a world standard environment. Has to be built in Hobart. I just hope it gets support from the whole state. It will need it. Hobart is a long way away from being a Green Bay.
  10. Do you think if the stadium is built in Hobart the people from the North will travel to attend games and conversely if the stadium is built in Launceston the people from the South will travel to attend games. From what I understand this is a huge challenge. Also Green Bay is very unique. Publicly held and 3 generations of not knowing anything else other than loving your city's football team. Not built overnight.
  11. Thanks. That was the following week. Norm Dare ran just about the length of the ground to get the lions over the line by less than a goal.
  12. Demonwiki has him 57 as a 68 reserves player and 50 as 69 reserves player. When he was promoted to the seniors he was given the number 11. That is a mistake by afltables. Short of Greg Wells coming on here I don''t know how to settle it. But as I said I was at the game, clearly remember him wearing 11 and have held onto the record which has him listed as number 11
  13. Yep, thats it. Tassie Johnsons 200th.
  14. Correction. Greg Wells wore 11 in his first game. I attended the game and still have the record. We debated this over at Demonology. Demonwiki has adjusted its record with this.
  15. That was Laurie Fowler who was knocked out at the bounce. Wearmouth. He came to on the stretcher going up the race and had to be restrained trying to get back on the ground.
  16. One year at Arden street as a 16 year old I was complaining to the bar staff there was no CUB beer for sale
  17. I grew up a few suburbs down. Surrounded by cheats fans. One of my close mates had a full beard in year 12. He would enter the ground via the Brewster street gates with beard, full slab of beer under his arm and a junior membership. I stood with them all under the main scoreboard for neutral games and agree felt no intimidation because I knew them. But simply a horrible place to attend the football as an opposition fan.
  18. Thanks for sharing that. Im really pleased to hear Norma is going well. I was friends with Wayne. John and Norma were really good people. Put so much of their time into junior footy.
  19. I just had a look and Demonwiki and it shows he wore 50 in the reserves and only 11 in the seniors.
  20. I was in that discussion. I was at the game and still have the record. It was against Carlton at the MCG, he wore number 11 At no time did he wear the number 50 playing in the seniors.
  21. Look for the old bloke in the Young shirt and young bloke in the Kittle shirt. Happy to say hello. Go Niners
  22. It was Monday morning after his comeback game and he had connected 5 times. He didn't need to give me time but he was happy to give me a few minutes after my cousin introduced me as his cousin from Australia. My son will have his Kittle shirt on on Monday. Heading into deluxe at Fed square where I understand there will be Niners fans watching.
  23. Huge Niners fan. Sat front row in the end zone for the Panthers game this year. The noise was amazing, particularly the Bosa interception. Winning team. Met Montana by chance in a breakfast house in San Carlos in 86. He gave me a few minutes which was fantastic. That sealed it for me as a Niner. Was at Candlestick Park for Steve Young's first game. He is my shirt of choice. Pretty pumped about Monday. Go Niners
