  1. Not sure that is right. I think mates and club culture play a big part. Plenty have rejected dollars for loyalty. Reiwald would be a good example.
  2. Wouldn't doubt it for a minute. Sickens me the crap he spins re the successor and direction of the club. Better off saying nothing.
  3. Can't see how it could work with Bomber. Different coaching styles and game plan. They obviously enjoy each other's company but a working relationship would be very different. Much more likely to go for a successor to be moulded in the Roos brand.
  4. Remember Roos wry smile when interviewed re the successor and Kirks name was mentioned. Body language was very strongly suggestive that Kirk was highly likely. Hardly surprising given their history. Roos always likes to keep close to him his favourites and as he is likely to stay with the club post coaching he would want familiarity. Don't think there is any doubt that what Roos says goes when it comes to the next in line. It makes sense that all is already in place.
  5. Also think some players rise to the occasion in the firsts but stagnate in the 2's. Have an idea Blease may be like that. Can be very damaging on his day - remember him kicking 5 agin the Saints. Been a while since anyone has done that. The ground and weather conditions at VFL venues wouldn't suit Sam. Must be given a go. Same with Tappy. No value with Nicho or Terlich and Salem isn't ready.
  6. Chips stance is becoming increasingly silly. He's painted himself into a corner.
  7. He's worth what it takes to secure him. It's a sellers market - any other team would take him at that price in a heartbeat.
  8. You would have to say that now Strauss and Pickles are gone. No sign of improvent for a few years. Fitz looks to be in the same boat. They all have had long enough.
  9. I'll let it rest but that day has always left a bad taste in my mouth. Doubt I'll want to watch that game again.
  10. Agree they were by far the better side - can't argue with that but I think there was a deliberate policy to target the heads of the younger players that day and they weren't accidental bumps. I've been involved with nasty long term consequences of concussions over the years and can accept accidental episodes but not targeted thuggery.
  11. There must be history behind Lyons comments. I'd say he knows he's going and there's background to the decision we don't know. I've been a defender of Chip on this forum as a footballer but always felt sure he made the decision to leave ages ago ala $cully. Also hated the way he used the successor issue as a smokescreen. Now I'm over him and couldn't care less if he goes. We don't need manipulators as part of our culture. If he hasn't bought in by now then bugger off.
  12. Our current situation isn't ideal with various parts of the club scattered. Would prefer an identifiable home base so I think it's good to look at options. Can't tell if this is the right one without more info. As always the devil is in the detail. Overall I think the President and Board seem much more functional than before and seem to concentrate on the bigger issue stuff and keep their noses out of the footy dept. At this stage would trust their decision making.
  13. I'm probably out of touch but if knocking kids deliberately about the head is what it takes to win a flag I'll pass. If it happened to my son I'd want blood.
  14. Brings back bad memories of Neelds University of Football.
  15. Love his passion. You could see he was furious with himself when coming off for a break for not having a bigger impact in the early part of the game. Didn't play that well but still kicked 2 and was a combative presence. The lack of a good small forward hasn't helped him. Terlich up forward wasn't one of Roosys best ideas.
  16. Think this defeat really hurt all concerned. Will be interesting to see how they respond. Get the feeling the penny has dropped about needing to play 4 quarters and to value your possessions and make them count.
  17. Neita - a champion bloke and player. Watching some of the vision played made me realise I had forgotten how good Ox was also. Some of his marks and goals were top shelf stuff. Will never forgive Essendon for what they did to Brad Green and Troy Simmons in the grand final. Michael Long is held up as a great hero but to me anyone who did what he did is contemptible. Dean Wallis is no better. Strange how that interview stirred up old hostilities.
  18. Good to see us getting multiple goals from the rucks. That hasn't happened for a long time. Maxxy is certainly on the improve. Will be an imposing presence in the future.
  19. From this presser there can be no doubting Roos emotional commitment to the cause.
  20. Sounds like he should be playing for Brazil at the World Cup.
  21. It's clear we are starting from so far back. Roos obviously knows this but nonetheless looked gutted - not so much from the loss but the first half and the lack of care exhibited by players who could and should do better.
