I am a Cross fan and believe he is important on-field and off. The only thing I would dispute is the comment he uses the ball well - he doesn't, if he did he would be elite.

Brayshaw and Vandenberg have been huge gains and Stretch and Petracca are in the wings.

lVince is coming back from injury, Cross is about the same, Jones has had some good games. Dunn has been solid without starring but McDonald has more than compensated. Tyson hasn't been as good but he is still very early in his career and will have form fluctuations - just as Nathan Jones did at the same age. I guess I see the glass half full.

The Suns looked alright for a while as well. Plenty of time for things to go pear shaped.

We are just seeing Spencer emerge at 25. Very few rucks can do a Brodie Grundy and have an immediate impact. I would hate to see us give up too early on him - not many rucks can kick like him. When he develops a body he could be a real weapon up forward.

I think last week was the performance that demanded a response at the selection table. Personally I'm pleased

I wonder - given his talent he hasn't exactly set the world on fire, especially with his consistency. I bet Prestia has a better career, because he really puts in.

I can't see how you can comment so dogmatically on The attitude of Toumpas. Only those close to him could comment on that. From what I've seen he comes across as committed and quite intense - from a distance confidence may be the main issue.

Agree re McKenzie is a good talent gone off the rails. Think he would thrive under our footy dept. His kicking would really bring something that's missing.

I firmly believe we are yet to see the benefit of our new development dept. - it's encouraging that Casey are doing well, keeping in mind Footscray won the VFL premiership last year and look at them now. I reckon Macca and co can bring players like Toumpas, Fitz, Gawn and even Watts to the next level. I reckon we should just sit back and enjoy the ride.
