I'm sick of people having a go at godfrey!! in a game where we got smashed he was one that kept trying and trying... sure he's never going to have the skills of a chris judd but he turns up week in and week out and bleeds red and blue!! A LOT of other player could learn from his example!! Lay off him because he is doing our team a lot more good that most of the other players on the list!

i was very annoyed to see CJ getting about 3-4 minuts game time and then being bought off again... i was watching the bench and he is the most over rotated player on the team!!! let him get some rhythm into his game rather than giving him short 5 minute spells!! really frustrating!!

Huh? Garland is smaller and lighter than Newton... Kids would be great to debut but i also want to win, the season isnt gone yet. Sure we lose the next couple then we'll have a look at the kids and see if we can get juddy back home, but im not ready for that yet.

I have been wanting Newton to play for a long time too... But we still want to win, correct?? I think we need some experience to steady the ship so to speak. He isnt solid or experienced enough to walk straight into FF... Biz knows how an AFL game is played and can play bigger than he is. Newton should debut in a pocket with Neitz by his side to learn off him. When i first thought about it i was exactly like you but a 2nd thought changed my mind. and what would those floaties be?? put him on the bench?? Try and hide him somewhere?? Put Jamar down there to help him??

I understand where you are coming from but it could do more bad than good... Newton could get smashed by Scarlett and lose all his confidence and with the way our midfield is delivering at the moment we wont learn anything. I dont want to fill gaps anymore than you do but i also dont want to throw them in the deep end and hope they can swim, if they cant we lose them...

yeah i like the point about the least risky option... He will be absolutly raring to go after more than a year off Bate could be worth a crack, has a good build and reasonable set shot. Apart from the i think it will have to be a first gamer, talk about throwing them to the sharks 0-2 and tipped to make top 4 and they have to come out and try to fill the place of the club games record holder and captain... If holland could take a mark and then fake a knee injury and have Greeny standing next to him to take the shot when holland cant, 1 min later holland runs on and we repeat the process... It'll be tough for whoever gets it i guess

This may sound stupid, but why isnt he worth a try? Apart from taking the opportunity of a younger player. I seem to remember when he was at geelong he played forward and was reasonably rated there...

Where did i say bruce didnt have a good year last year?? but it was nowhere near mcdonalds!! The reason bruce didnt get AA is that he wasnt good enough... plain and simple!! Macca and bruce play the same position, Midfield, to say that there are more Bruces' than mcdonalds is silly. If anything there are less bruce's because he has the ability to play forward and back in stints too. Giving bruce the captaincy would be rewarding recievers who do well when we are winning and not rewarding the person who actually goes in and gets them the ball when the going is tough

Bruce's performances this year havent warrented the honour of being captain, however saying this, green and McDonald havent litten the world on fire, so for reward on a top year last year im saying macca.

how can you suggest that we should try to lose...?? I dont want to have anything to do with a team that is trying to lose! and nobody else should either!! I definately would not renew my membership if i knew that were the case and i think there would be thousands of other people in the same boat. The club would be lucky to survive if we went 2 seasons finishing on the bottom of the ladder when we are trying let alone on purpose!!! but it is a stupid arguement to have because there is NO way that an elite team would go out and try to lose.

i hope that is sarcasm.... davey belongs in the forward line and the forward line only!

sorry about the vagueness of this response but there is a guy in the age who values sporting memorabilia in the saturday age, sports section, usually the last or 2nd last page. I had a quick serch for him but i couldnt find out his name, rick milne, i think off the top of my head. Buy the age this saturday and have a look, he lists his email and phone number at the bottom of the segment. He will know what they are worth. I would be very interested to know too, they sound good.

According to sporting life today in the age James Frawley will be on the panel of the footy show tonight along with bryce gibbs and lachlan hansen. Will be good to see how he handles himself in media situations such as these. Should make interesting watching

im interested to know what people think of davey's best position on the ground. personally i am sick of seeing him running around the half back flank/wing area loosing his cool and giving away stupid free kicks like the baker one last night. He has always played his best football deep in the forward line crumming of neitz and robbo, geez, its where we all came to love him and where he finished 2nd in the rising star. So many time last night we had a forward on the lead and no crumming players, where davey's speed would be perfect, instead daniher insits on playing him up the ground where he doesnt attack the ball and tries fancy little tap ons and running around the players where all we need is someone who is hard at it and will take a hit, not try something that looks great if it comes off, but rarely does! Davey is the main concern but Daniher has made a habit of taking players out of their best postition and 'trying' them somewhere else, which is fine of we are 10 goals up at 3/4 time but not when we are losing. Bruce in the backline, sure it worked once against tarrant but why persist against a player like blake?? Green, midfield or forward please!! would be nice to see a few players become a bit more settled in their positions, like WJ said in another thread, too many rotations is not a good thing!!

i didnt know that, official MFC website has him at a test... Frawley might get a game if he is.

fletcher and lucas.... sums up the quality of the list. bowden is great for your dream team and thats about it, as far as him as a backman. i think they were the only bleedingly stupid ones, some are too high, some too low but they always will be.

Have to agree with freak here, I cant see any reason to start our best players on the bench... it just gives up any chance they have of setting the standard of the quarter or game. We need to have our best team on at the first bounce, that time is so vital! Best players will be able to set up goals at any stage, thats why they are our best players... the 'second' tier HB's and midfielders will benefit more coming on 10-15 mins in.

agree re: the use of the mcg and telstra dome for reserve games, its too hard on the surface, but i like the idea of using junction oval... why not on a sunday and saturday put the reserve teams from both sides on, let members in, general public pay VFL prices and have the game finish about an hour before the seniors. Geelong could play before at kardinia park cause there isnt as much footy played there. A 10 team competioton in Victoria could work and all supporters would see their teams play plenty of times in the season.

Should win 3 of those (brisbane, Port and Sydney) which going by last year will put us in the Top 4. We would have to get lucky or play very well to beat Freo or WC over there.

i prefer jamar at the moment but who knows whats going to happen in pre season. I think russian has lots of improvement left in him and lets hope 2007 is the year that he really shows what he is capable of. On another note, lets never see all 3 ruckman in the same team again.... PLEASE!!
